Epic Fight Over Hot Chest

there's a lot I've missed in this thread, but I think it's pretty obvious addons carry you to at least some extent. they obviously don't make you better players, but they do have the ability to make players who are normally bad play on a level comparable to truly good players.

"can I cast or is his counterspell up?" a good player will have counted down mentally from when they used it. this means both timing and awareness: to know how long ago they used it, and to know that they used it. you can replace all of these skills with afflicted, which places a nice icon on your screen: you no longer need to know when they use CS, or when it will be up again; you no longer need to pay attention to your surroundings, but instead the icon.

The champ has spoken...

definitely still need to pay attention to both. it just lessens the amount of things you have to be splitting attention on. they wont make bad pvpers good or even on the level or a great player, but it will marginally help. they will also take a good/great pvper and help him up to the next level. since they already master the act of watching cds/ccs/target switches, etc. the addon will just streamline things and allow them to become that much better. but its not like it bridges skill. you still have to have situational awareness, general knowledge of enemy classes, etc.

as for playing an interactive spreadsheet.....what else did you think wow is? pve and pvp are both constant min/max situations and even while leveling you want to maximize stats and talents to level faster and more effectively.

Do you play paladins? I bet you have a lot of fun counting down 20 mins when the time comes to use Loh.

I think, at some point during that 20min cd, I could find a time to glance at my bars.

It may be difficult, but I think i can handle it

Holy shit how many times do I have to say this.

With addons you can move shit to one spot so you don't have to look everywhere, this does not carry you, using shit that watches the enemies CD watcher just amkes it so you don't have to count your oppenents multiple CDs used each time by yourself, you can keep saying " a good player will count down CDs", well go PvP at 80 then have some fuckin fun counting down every single spell they cast since some classes are bassed off CDs. (See: warriors, paladins, so on) having one little bit of benefit does not hurt you. It does not carry you. Tell me how me being able to move shit carries me, tell me how being able to see how much health my heal will approx add to my health bar carry me? how does not having to count to 2 minutes/30 seconds at the same time starting at different times. (e.g the 30 starts while the 2 min is at 1:21) and being able to think about other shit (how I'm going to counter if he uses x and what I'll do if he y's, or whether or not using z would be a good idea now), that gives me a bonus, it does not carry me, if you guys think having a small bonus is stupid, have fun, once some one with the same amount of skill at the class your playing 1v1s you with all his addons on you can have fun getting rolled because he'll be more prepared then you while your glaring around your screen while counting in your head.

this might be helpful:
Code:
/run for _, f in pairs{PlayerFrame, TargetFrame} do f:SetMovable(true) f:SetScript("OnDragStart", f.StartMoving) f:SetScript("OnDragStop", f.StopMovingOrSizing) f:RegisterForDrag("LeftButton") end

unlocks your frames for dragging without addons. i assume since moving your frames is all you wanted, that will be satisfactory.

(no i didn't read the whole post!)

It's not but I will take that command into consideration.
