Nostalrius all over again. Now we have to wait like 3-4 years for an official release that may or may not actually be good.

... I miss when Bungie owned Halo. They specifically wanted to be independent back in the day and didn’t want Microsoft to buy them out. Now even Bungie doesn’t abide by those standards as they’ve been merged with Activision/Blizzard

Rip bungie's Halo
Halo reach was already borderline bad (except it's replayability that's probably the best of the original 5 bungie halo games)

Microsoft is taking so much Youtube content down and even banning streamers on Twitch to minimize publicity of it... So douchey. Of course they don't ban Summit, lovely double standards for top streamers.

edit: maybe it's not being completely screwed. Just screwed in the sense that they can't release more updates for the game... Uhh not sure if this is bad in terms of patching glitches..?

what do you guys think as far as intellectual property and the ownership of it?
should creators constantly get butt-hurt about derivatives of their product?

or do you think once the idea is out there its for the market to bastardize anyway it sees fit?

I think that if a service is nearly obsolete after time and/or updates, and the developer fails to re-introduce it as a continued service, the community should have the right to host it themselves if it's non-profit. Having I-property ownership over a game that isn't fully available as it used to be (or at least in terms of server quality/ platform /etc), that's like owning a type of entertainment and barring anyone from ever reliving their enjoyment of it so long as it's your IP.

Just as Nostalrius situation, blizzard failed to continue provide a service (vanilla wow) separate from the modern version of the game. Aside from it being owned by Blizzard, it's a part of people and for many it is a means of enjoyment.

Over and over, companies fail to see this and utilize this to both of their benefits. They hurt themselves and the community.

I hope more companies realize this in the future just as Blizzard did (if they stay true to what they promised).

In Microsoft's case, they're a bunch of hard-asses and fear of losing Halo as an Xbox exclusive title. Their ego is clouding their sense of reasoning and they fail to see how most consoles are a dying fad. PC will live on for ages until quantum computing is standard in every household.

As a result of failing to meet the needs of gamers.. Stolen IP isn't a matter of 'if', it's a matter of 'when'.

Microsoft would be smart to hire the ElDewrito team, but that's highly unlikely.
