What will this topic contain?
This topic will consist of an entire list of "Break Points" for each individual class, it will also list all of the DoTs and HoTs that classes have which are not affected by haste, this is a very similar post to the previous post I made in the "Best in Slots" thread regarding Shadow Priests, since I received a lot of questions regarding the post I thought that I will help the rest of the community by displaying the Break Points for each and every class, I will update this with each new patch, including all of the Mists of Panderia spells, as of now this will be useful for every bracket as it will show percentages which do not change from level to level, although I do have plans to make this usable through ratings for different levels as a lot of people will find it easier to reach the specific break point if they know the rating instead of the percentage
What are Break Points?
A break point is a specific point in Damage over Time or a Heal over Time spell which indicates a new tick; this is one of the reasons why a lot of DoT and HoT classes favour mastery over a lot of other secondary stats as it will be a larger damage increase due to the addition of ticks.
What will the new tick provide me with?
The damage or healing that the new tick provides is exactly the same as your ticks without any haste
for example, if your Seal of Truth deals 244 damage each tick with 0 haste and has 5 ticks in the DoT duration, you will do a complete total of 1220 damage, if you gain 30% haste which is a break point that would give you two additional ticks to the Seal of Truth, you will add 2 times the initial tick damage to the total of the DoT that you had with 0% haste, so with 30% haste the complete damage the DoT would deal would be 1708 compared to the original 1220.
How do I figure out a break point?
A break points percentage can be figured out with a very simple formula.
The formula for finding the percentage Break Point is as follows
(100 / T / 2 ) x ((N x 2) -1) = Nth Tick
100% divided by the amount of ticks a dot has
Half this amount to find the first additional tick
multiply the halved amount by 3, 5 , 7, 9, 11 going up in 2 each time to find out the next individual breakpoint
in terms this would be:
(100 / T / 2) x 1 = 1st Tick
(100 / T / 2) x 3 = 2nd Tick
(100 / T / 2 ) x 5 = 3rd Tick
Where 100 = 100%, T = Ticks, N = The tick that you want to find
Updates
1st Feburary - adding in common breakpoints for multiple classes, and editing the whole post due to errors that have happened during the switch
9th Febuary - added all common breakpoints, going to start finding values
Feedback
If you see any mistakes in the calculations or any spells that i have missed please let me know
