  10. What effect has World of Warcraft had on your life outside gaming?

I guess i'll kick it off!

  1. My cousin played the game in late vanilla beta and i saw it. From him i got a 10 day trial a few months after the game had been released and i've been playing ever since then.
  2. An undead rogue named Oliks, which was my name in runescape before that.
  3. My cousin had an undead 60 priest, so i rolled an undead aswell since they were cool and I he told me i could raid with him when i got to 60.
  4. My most memorable moment was probably on a private server (called burningfusion) in patch 2.4.3 in TBC. I was a donator on the website and played there with 4 other IRL friends who were donators aswell. It was some of the most fun i've ever had in wow.
  5. PvP and Twinking (obviously). I've always been into twinking ever since i saw my friend with a 19 troll rogue in vanilla with double cruel barbs with lifestealing on. I then made a nightelf rogue twink on another server (since you couldn't make both factions on pvp servers back then) and started twinking.
  6. Westfall on Alliance and outside Orgrimmar on horde. (for dueling purposes on twinks)
  7. My most played on 1 char is 264 days on my vanilla rogue. But i would say that overall i probably have around 900 days played.(yes i know)
  8. Hell naww
  9. I've deleted A LOT of grandfathered twinks
  10. Not really any. I've always been an open person with lots of stuff to do. 9/10 times i choose IRL stuff over playing wow if it's a choice and when i'm bored i take breaks. (Which happens every 2-3 months or so) and then i return after a few weeks.. I've also met with people whom i met ingame to begin with, such as Juliye from here.

1. Why did you start playing World of Warcraft?
Couple of my class mates was playing it, and one of them came home with me and showed me the game.

2. What was the first ever character you rolled?
Well I did make a few characters and lvld them to lvl 5 or so then making another. The first one was a dwarf hunter called oldgimli with grey hair and beard. Which is also the hunter in my sig.

3. Which factors determined your faction choice in game?
At the time Lord Of The Rings was pretty huge, and seeing as i liked gimli the natural choice was dwarf.

4. What has been your most memorable moment in World of Warcraft and why?

Oh god, there has been so many, I think the one that stands out right now would be that time where me and a few friends in the middle of the night was fucking around in durotar and one of us killed a school of fish. Then we started a weird RP segment where we had to go to stormwind cathedral to ressurect the fish by shooting those JC gem lasers on my pet ontop of the alter, we were all in RP Gear and things started to get hillarious when alliance players started attacking us and we managed to kill them and escape without dying.

5. What is your favourite aspect of the game and has this always been the case?
For me it's always been PVP.

6. Do you have an area in game that you always return to?
Twinking, thats where i started out and its always been a aspect ive enjoyed.

7. How long have you /played and has that been continuous?
I'm really not sure, i think my hunter has something upwards against 300 days played, i think it would be reasonable to say ive played atleast 600 days. And its been on and off over the years.

8. Admit it: do you read quest text or not?
I dont think ive ever read the quest text.

9. Are there any regrets from your time in game?
Not reaaaally. I sometimes wonder what would happen if I didnt focus on fucking around and having fun rather than grinding arenas etc but i cant say i have any regrets.

10. What effect has World of Warcraft had on your life outside gaming?

Well there is the cliché wow over hanging out with friends scenario which have lost me a couple of friends i suppose, besides that I'm not really sure. I guess my point of view and attitude towards stuff and things are somewhat shaped by the people that ive met over the years, ive been influenced by the people that ive connected with and spent many hours playing the game with in other words.

Why did you start playing World of Warcraft? Cause my cousin played it.
What was the first ever character you rolled? A warrior.
Which factors determined your faction choice in game? I play both factions.
What has been your most memorable moment in World of Warcraft and why? Probably most of TBC, most of the time on my old 39 warrior with ravager and pendulum.
What is your favourite aspect of the game and has this always been the case? The content, has always been rich and full of excitement. That is if you have an open mind.
Do you have an area in game that you always return to? STV
How long have you /played and has that been continuous? 192 days on my main, around 300-400 aaccount wide
Admit it: do you read quest text or not? Yes.
Are there any regrets from your time in game? No, I chose not to regret my choices.
What effect has World of Warcraft had on your life outside gaming? Yes, eet haz emproevd my englisj skeels

I started playing WoW because of a small and cute game called Murloc RPG, my brother saw in the description "Based on the MMORPG World Of Warcraft"

My first race ever played was a Night Elf Priest.

The only reason i played Night elf was because i couldn't play Blood Elf, so when Cata made WoW F2P i rerolled Horde

I would say the time when Wotlk had came out because i remember seeing Frostwyrns flying in Stormwind Harbor and killing everything. Too Epix

I dont like the how questing works in he game now. Dont read anything, check map, collect, kill, escort etc.,turn in, grats you have no idea what the quest or anything on whats going on is about.

Not really

ive played starter since late BC

At times, only to know the story.

Not upgrading

Better ingrish skyls and lurning tu type

Why did you start playing World of Warcraft?
A family member was playing it and I decided to make a character as a joke. The joke was on me - I actually enjoyed playing it.

What was the first ever character you rolled?
Human pally

Which factors determined your faction choice in game?
Horde were ugly and evil, so Alliance it was! :p

What has been your most memorable moment in World of Warcraft and why?
So many... I remember finishing my first twink and how awesome that felt. I remember the guild vs guild war in the STV arena when it was my turn to get AGM on one character, and how it took probably a good hour to get my last one. I remember the amazingly fun times I had queuing with Lethal Synergy on Elune and the awesome people there. I remember a few occasions of being surprised at STV with TCG gifts by good friends. I remember taking selfies with a GM character in-game when my main's guild got stuck in a raid and he came to help us out.

What is your favourite aspect of the game and has this always been the case?
Twinking and socializing/meeting people

Do you have an area in game that you always return to?
The 19 bracket!!

How long have you /played and has that been continuous?
I've been playing WoW since 2006 and twinking since 2009, with a few breaks here and there.

Admit it: do you read quest text or not?
Ain't no one got time for that. :p (No, I don't read quest text.)

Are there any regrets from your time in game?
My regrets have often been not getting to know people better. People often just think about other players as just people on the internet, but it's amazing what you learn about people when you take the time to get to know them.

What effect has World of Warcraft had on your life outside gaming?
Some of the friendships I've made in the game have translated to real life. People who I've met in-game have helped me through IRL crises and my current best friend is someone I met in the game.

1. The "Play FREE now! (until level 20 cap)" advertisement. That and I just got a new laptop. (this was 4 years ago)

2. Stereotyped f2p Blood-Elf Frisbee Tosser scrub. (in which Paladin remained my favorite class to this date)

3. Horde looked cool at first and the Blood-Elf starting zone was beautiful and fun to explore. But eventually I became a neutral player, in which I choose certain factions depending on the community on the server.

4. When I first learned there were different starting zones and I could ride a Zeppelin to different cities and lands. This was a solid month after I started playing f2p. I still think it's funny how long it took me.

5. I was used to shooters such as Halo for the longest time. And I forgot how amazing RPG games were. As soon as I explored more lands and content, I realized how much I would eventually submerge myself into the game (for better or worse). I still don't know nearly everything about the game. I do love WoW lore, as well as halo lore :p

6. Eversong Woods, without a doubt. Cant get enough of that music and atmosphere. I look foreword to more Bloodelf themed content in Warlords. (doubtful, but would love to see what they do with Quel'thalas)

7. Probably somewhere around 125 or so days.

8. When the questline has interesting mechanics or the tasks/enemies are conspicuous :)

9. Well I had virtual sex with some under-leveled female mage in the Goldshire inn bedroom a couple days ago (but I had my Lucky Fishing Hat on). I've never really been up to par with my fellow guildies' raid schedules, and miss out on a lot of endgame content, as I like low level twinking. And I never maxed out any professions or made more than 12k gold at a time, without the urge of spending it.

10. I'll keep this serious. I've put so much time into this game, my sleep schedule is averaged around 2:00 am to 12:00 pm and my High school work ethic was terrible and embarrassing, to say the least. First day of College starts tomorrow and I've been conditioning myself lately. And having an apartment and having to lookout for myself adds a little responsibility. But honestly, it isn't so bad :D

I hate you Blizz, but I love you.

Why did you start playing World of Warcraft?
A friend of mine in high school had a family member who worked for Blizzard and got him and I very early access to the game. I'm talking so early that not all the classes had been added yet, Hunters could use shields, and Tauren didn't have mounts.

What was the first ever character you rolled?
A troll shaman named Zuty on Burning Blade US. I went Elemental with him.

Which factors determined your faction choice in game?
I was and forever will be a proud member of the Horde. Nothing really determined that choice for me.

What has been your most memorable moment in World of Warcraft and why?
I have so many that I couldn't nearly list a single one ... The first time I wall jumped into Hyjal, getting into Old IF, standing outside the cave for WSG the day that BGs were added to the game, taking down world and raid bosses ... Really, these were all things I did with my friends, so any moment with them has been memorable.

What is your favorite aspect of the game and has this always been the case?
I don't even know how to describe this, but there is just something about WoW that no other game has. I don't even know what that element is ... It has to do with the exploration, the adventure, the battles ... Everything was so new and fresh when I started playing. It wasn't until TBC that this feeling slowly diminished. Sure, they added new content to explore and battles for me to partake in ... but it just seemed bland and boring compared to how unique Vanilla was for me.

Do you have an area in game that you always return to?
While I enjoyed every nook and cranny of the game, the place I find myself time and time again going back to is Crossroads. Blizzard worked hard on the major cities and I appreciate that, but when I played WoW in Vanilla, Crossroads was the server hub. Players of all levels would go there to chat, trade, duel, and help low level players out. It was also not to far from the WSG cave which, at the time, was the ONLY way to que. When AB was released, players did start heading to Hammerfall, but the population of players at Crossroads remained strong.

How long have you /played and has that been continuous?
I started playing during early access, I waited until the second the game went live, and I officially quit right around the time of Cata. Within the first month or so, I was level 60. I didn't hit 70 until WotLK came out, because I spent so much time helping others level and gear out that I didn't have any time for myself. I logged off for the last time wearing my T2 gear from my days of raiding sitting atop my Brewfest Ram in the Valley of Trials where my story began. I had roughly 4 years of /played time on Zuty alone.

Admit it: do you read quest text or not?
Of course I do. Even if it's a quest I've done before, I'll stop to read it.

Are there any regrets from your time in game?
I regret the fact that Blizzard ruined this game starting with TBC and then progressively getting worse and worse each expansion. I guess my only true regret is that I didn't have more time to enjoy the game with my friends.

What effect has World of Warcraft had on your life outside gaming?
It's helped me socially as a nice way to break the ice with people. If they have played, it gives us something to talk about. I've made lots of friends in game that I still talk to regularly. I've been playing tabletop RPs with several buddies of mine who all played WoW for the last 10 years now and we'll reference WoW many times during our games and use it as a means to describe situations.

World of Warcraft will always hold a special place in my heart. I'll always be upset with the road that Blizzard took, but it's their game and they can do whatever they want with it. I have YET to play an MMORPG that matches WoW; don't get me wrong, I've had fun playing other MMORPGs, but the unique touch that WoW had on my life when I first started is something I'll probably never feel again. This must be how an old man feels when he looks back at his childhood and how that childlike innocence is gone forever.

Q: Why did you start playing World of Warcraft?
A: I was waiting to long for Warcraft IV and read alot about games back in those days and came to the conclusion that WoW was actually Warcraft and controlling a single character with people who are doing the same instead of a single person controlling all. So I pre-ordered WoW.

Q: What was the first ever character you rolled?
A: A Ne hunter. After investigating on paper I just chose the best average class.

Q: Which factors determined your faction choice in game?
A: I just started to play as alliance cause of nelfs with the idea that I could go horde later and check out that side.

Q: What has been your most memorable moment in World of Warcraft and why?
A: The day we formed a level 19 twinking guild back on Anachronos called "Partysquad". I think the why question answers itself: fun and I liked low level pvp to much.

Q: What is your favourite aspect of the game and has this always been the case?
A: Making people happy with a twink and creating my own. I didn't have the tools to do that untill half way tbc and to be honost I never liked twinks when I started, they were ruining my game-experience till I understood how wow pvp worked. I started to fight fire with fire with semi-twinks but never made bis-twinks, if that was even possible back in the old days, I just enjoyed lower level pvp and I still do and adapted by creating bis-twinks to play in the locked brackets.

Q: Do you have an area in game that you always return to?
A: Now I think of it, I always go to Teldrassil to level if I make a new toon on alliance. I guess that counts.

Q: How long have you /played and has that been continuous?
A: I don't really want to know how much time I've spend on gaming in general. I'm having fun is all that counts but that number is really huge for WoW. There are 2 or 3 months in my 10 year of WoW history that I haven't payed so I guess I could say that I've played continuesly on my accounts with exception of my vanilla account which I haven't touched since the end of vanilla.

Q: Admit it: do you read quest text or not?
A: Yes I do unless I know the quest and done them several times. Back in vanilla reading the quests was a must withouth quest tracking. Old habbits.

Q: Are there any regrets from your time in game?
A: I'm having fun with it so no regrets here. I've not deleted any twinks, I do have 3 or 4 19s dinged to 20 because of the shattering changes, I discovered major cities again and gained xp. Maby I regret that because of my own stupidity not locking their xp but then again it couldn't be predicted.

Q: What effect has World of Warcraft had on your life outside gaming?
A: I've never had a real bond with my nephews, that changed when I noticed they played WoW.
