What is the point on grinding out TF Invasion gear?

So I just educated myself on the Legion PVP system and I am a bit confused.

Here is what I read: https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/news/19994381/legion-pvp-preview

    Here's the important part:
"In Legion, as soon as you zone into a PvP instance, the stats on your gear will be nullified, and you'll be given a pre-determined set of stats that's uniquely configured for your specialization. Furthermore, any set bonuses, enchants, Legendary bonuses, or trinket effects will be deactivated (although your Artifact and its related Artifact Powers will remain active).

The only contribution your gear will make to your overall power is through a small modifier based on your average item level. For every point that your average item level increases, your pre-determined PvP stats will increase by 0.1%. That means a 25 item level difference between two players only results in a 2.5% difference in stats, compared to the 25% difference it makes today."

I'm going to ignore the pvp rings (http://www.wowhead.com/item=7337/the-rock) and necklace (http://www.wowhead.com/item=74918/problem-solving-pendant) that all twinks will be using to take advantage of this scaling in my analogy.

Lets say you are using full looms and other BiS gear w/o Invasion gear or gear you get from crates.
Your average Ilevel will be around 24 or so.
Now lets say you are in full Ilevel 34 TF Invasion gear and your average Ilevel is around about 32 (due to no Invasion trinks, back and sometimes weapons).
If these 2 players were to fight the one with the Invasion gear will have a .8% advantage over the guy in looms.

Is there something that I missed? Because if not, is .8% even worth it?
I can defiantly see the point in getting a full set of Invasion gear, but not TF.

It's about putting work and pride into a character.

Now that's an answer that I like. I don't think you can quite call afking for a chest "work" though.

I'm not saying it's hard or takes any skill, but even AFKing for the gear is more work than not doing it. And if there's one thing I've learned about grandfathered gear, it's that you'll regret it like hell if you skip out on getting it while you can.

I mean, we used to pay money, time, and tons of gold to get items that gave us slight advantages over other twinks. I don't see much of a difference with the current system compared to that.

People think Blizzard will go back on this new PvP system one day so they grind their hearts out hoping that it'll be more than a 1% increase at some point in time.

Twinking has always been about getting 1 more, as in +1 Stat over what anyone else has. "TF" Invasion Gear is of a higher iLvL than most of what can be obtained elsewhere and therefore qualifies under the "1 more" rule.

Well I see a lot of twinks out there with an item lvl of 43 at 19. Most 19 leveling through have empty slots or white items. On average a noob leveling through will have around il 20 even with looms. 2.3% stat difference doesn't sound like a lot but it really is. Back in the day people would spend talent points for just a 1% int increase.

Even "serious" end game players will grind their little hearts out for a tenth of a percentage point. It can make or break you sometimes.
You can trust me on that one.

said it in another thing but the only main interesting factors with this invasion gear:

looking way cooler (my mage looks like a lvl 60 + to me) but more so, blizz might one day allow low levels to benefit from mastery, mastery of which is all over this Invasion gear set..

that shit will add a LOT of interest/value worth gain to your characters that have mastery sets if they ever choose to do that, whhich isnt a far-fetched change to consider may happen some time in the next few months, years , etc... added to the fact the gear is so good stat wise,

we dont want to get this shit but we haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaave to, at least some of us OCD tinkers that just need to have all possible potential BIS's just to be prepared.

i want(ed) em so im not left out incase somethin along those lines happens!

I had a twink before this one, and something happened that i leveled it out. Later an item i had on that twink become a coveted Grandfathered item. Helm of Exile. When i come back for twinking, there was several conversations brought up over that dang helm. Man, wish you still had that helm! Dang sucks you dont have that helm anymore! To the point i was like .. DANG I WISH I HAD THAT HELM!. Every single piece of Gear from this invasion that is what some call "Titanforged" is of the same level as that helm.

NO WAY IN HELL AM I NOT GETTING IT!!
