US The PVP Best Linked/F2P's in the Bracket?

Malgibbon

Veteran
I don't mean classes. I mean actual players. Vets occupy too much of the spotlight. Some of the F2P's recognized might never read this but let's throw some recognition out there for some of the better F2P/Linked players who clearly have some skill but haven't bothered to commit to vet twinking. There will be some inevitable bias against F2Ps, especially melee based dps since no weapon procs really hurts them and it may be too difficult to evaluate whether they're actually good. F2P's have less margin of error in their gameplay and generally have to play a bit differently due to the discrepancy in capabilities between vets and F2P. For example, in AB, sometimes the best play for a F2P in solo que is to not even engage a solo que Vet directly at all 1v1 (especially as a DPS vs Healer) and instead support or form the core of their main group attacking bases where the vet is not. This might be said to go to their ability to BG well. It might be hard for a vet to appreciate the advantages they hold over F2Ps but their comments are nevertheless welcome.

Food for thought for BGs:

Do they cause more trouble than they otherwise should? Especially when they go toe-to-toe versus vets? In a pre-made, do they pull their weight or more versus some vets? Do they target you if you're playing glass? This might require some evaluation over time since some F2P's like to test their boundaries vs vets.

Have they been a gamechanger? If you're a vet, have you ever popped consumables against them? Have you accidently lumped them in with vets?

TLDR: Which F2P's come across as strong?
On either faction:
Who is in your top 5 for heals?
Top 5 as DPS?
By Class?
In 1v1's?
In battlegrounds generally and objectives-based play?
Arena Skirmish?
Best XMOG outfit?

There is a special place in my heart for xarisonor for never quitting, body ressing and still going for objs in the most lopsided of games. I may kill you a lot but know I do it out of love and kindness. And they get kills on me alot too because I’m a glass cannon player almost always which is fun when it happens
[doublepost=1596232253,1596231589][/doublepost]èx the monk is another good one, very very strong ftp in terms of character power, and plays mid well

lilautismo is a good one

alien the priest is never afraid to heal me in fights against vets

Thanks for this it got me thinking about a few more people and other considerations that might be indicative of good F2Ps that vets might not immediately think of. Looking for more input from this community!

Some additional food for thought:

Maybe an indicator in the context of BGs to consider when identifying a good F2P is to recognize that even if they have inherent disadvantage vs vets, especially a premade, is to ask yourself are they consistently preventing a lopsided game from being a blowout(5 CAP 1500-0/GY farm fest ) when it otherwise should be? Especially if they put up a big fight both from playing objectives well and kiting? That is, without them, the games should have been over much quicker and without any potential to lose just based on the gear discrepancy of the vets between the teams with f2p.

Additionally - while it might be harder to appreciate, do they set up kills well in team fights on high priority targets like healers or vets who otherwise shouldn't be dying? Vets often bring the damage for the killing blow, but a good F2P can get you in range for it before a heals can react fast enough. As heals do they do this in some capacity or are otherwise clutch when it comes to keeping the team alive? Are they usually one of the last ones alive in a wipe without playing selfishly?

Yea its a good sign if vets think your f2p is a vet. One of the things I considered when making this thread was to list people who I know are F2P/Linked since vets might not think to comment on them or their skills when they're under the impression they're a vet. I don't think anyone could make a comprehensive list of F2Ps on their own or even the semi-active ones though and wanted to allow for people to bring up people who immediately come to mind even if it may be more reflective of the very active f2ps playing in like the last two weeks.

Also, since some twinks are more active at certain times it might be difficult for me to name people who otherwise would be playing at 3 AM my time.

Also, if you only ever run premades in the same vein it might be difficult to appreciate how skilled the F2P is on your team especially if you don't get to clash with another team of vets consistently.
