I thought there might be other people on the forum that was also animes and it'd be fun to talk about them. Recently saw one that you want to share? Excited about a new upcoming one? Anything and everything about anime, here for this thread!

I'll start off by just talking about a few I've seen.

Like my favourite anime is Sword Art Online. I loved the whole story and concept of people trying to survive in a game like that. After finishing the anime, I went ahead and read the light novels. Super excited about the second season that's supposed to come out this year, even after spoiling the story for myself with the light novels.

Another one I really loved was Guilty Crown. I like the plot and story in it. I kinda hate how they made the hero the "villain" for a few episodes in the middle... I mean everyone would hate to see the main character turn into a bad guy. But it did add a awesome twist. I really hope another season comes out.

Then there's Angel Beats... The story is just stunning. I heard about it from people saying it had a lot of feels... And I definitely wasn't disappointed. You'd have to have less emotional capacity than a brick not cry near the end. :(

And then there's Pokemon Origins... Don't get me started. It had everything the "normal" show didn't. Honestly, I'd love to see that anime continued instead of this Ash ketchup shiz.

Also seriously loved Fairy Tail. I just can't wait for the anime to start again in March, or was it April?

Problem children are coming from another world, aren't they? was also incredible. I thought Izayoi Sakamaki was like totally the most awesome dude ever. lol The gif on the top is from that anime too!

Tell us about yourself now! :D

Still watching Naruto Shippuuden after all these years, though when I go back to the beginning of the first series, I have to acknowledge that I was a very different person when I started from who I am now. I think some of those super long series like Naruto, One Piece, and even Fairy Tail are difficult to start if you have already watched a series with a similar formula.

Sword Art Online was excellent, especially the first half. One of the few times where I really enjoyed an episodic anime. I wish they had spent more time exploring the social, organizational, and interpersonal side of MMOs, but it was a nice start. And it certainly had better pacing than the snooze-fest .hack. =/

And of course, the current epically awesome series: Attack on Titan. If you haven't seen it yet, go see it. I won't be crazy and call it perfect; it isn't. But it's damn close. Also do yourself a favor and watch it without reading about it; I did that, and am so happy I did. The last time I enjoyed twists in a story this much was when I watched Death Note (though this doesn't focus on being as crazy clever as Death Note was).

I've heard tonnes about Naruto and watched like the first 20-30 episodes of the original series when it used to come on T.V. here. I've wanted to watch it again but the first series has like 200+ episodes and Shippuuden is going strong at 350 with no signs of stopping. Catching up to the current episode will take me forever. Even Fairy Tail (which has 175 episodes) took my whole previous summer holidays... I'll probs use my next holidays to kick start that, though.

By the way, have you heard of Log Horizon? It's also about a bunch of players that ended up getting stuck in a game. They don't "die in real life" but the story has it's own plot and actions have their own consequences there. It doesn't contain as much romance as SAO but actually covers different aspects. Like how the trapped players deal with NPC's, setting up their own laws, etc. Not gonna spoil it but it's got a interesting yet different view of the whole "trapped in a game" idea that SAO had... I wouldn't rank it as good as SAO, though, but it's still enjoyable. I'd totally recommend you watch it, man.

And Attack on Titan is awesome... I can't believe I forgot that. >.< The feels of the people being trapped and fighting for their survival. Death exists in all animes and no one wants to "lose." But this was the first time where I could actually "feel" their fear. Every time there's an encounter with a titan, you'd be on the edge of your seat thinkin' anybody could die.

Some of the scenes where they use their Maneuver Gear and how Eren helps in his titan form were pure epic too. Like, daaayuum. I enjoyed the Levi character too. Sometimes you hate him and sometimes you love him. lol

Heck, I even found Annie to be pretty sympathetic.

And I can't believe I forgot to mention SAO's love story. First time I've seen a love story in anime that I can completely relate to. The only thing that knocked it down a notch for me was how they changed it half way through to a simplistic damsel in distress sort of formula. =/ But the first half was excellent.

I haven't heard of Log Horizon, I'll add it to my list of things to check out when I have the time. Last time I had time I ended up watching The Devil is a Part Timer, which was fun, but pretty formulaic.

Naruto is epically long, yes. If you liked the first 20-25 episodes, which is the first major story arc, then you'll love the rest of the series. However, there is one major tip that I didn't follow enough: skip the filler. There's a decent guide to all the story arcs here, though it has some spoilers. I don't think you need to worry seriously about filler until after episode 170 or so in the original series. After that last arc, though, almost everything becomes filler until Shippuuden. I watched way too much of it. XD However, it means that a 250 episode series is really more like 180-200 episodes. =) As for Shippuuden, it has filler arcs sometimes too, and up until the second half of the series, some of them are pretty good, so you don't need to worry about skipping as much.

Gotta love how the guy ended up eating all the udon till he got sick. lol

I'll try Naruto later on during holidays, I think. That link is super helpful, though. I remember all them fillers in the original DBZ series... I don't wanna go through that again. lol

I watch Naruto, Bleach, Fruits Basket, Trigun, Hellsing, Shiki, Berserk, One Piece, Attack on Titan, Wolf's Rain, Cowboy Bebop, Honey and Clover, etc. There is so much more, but I'm drawing a blank. YAY Anime :)

Angel Beats was just god tier.

Some of my favorites are Code Geass, Angel Beats, Shinryaku! Ika Musume, Blood+, Lucky Star, Cardcaptor Sakura, and Serial Experiments: Lain.

Oh, has anyone watched Spice and Wolf? And out of them, anyone like it? I loved it, but at the same time, I felt kinda strange for loving it. XD

Fullmetal alchemist brotherhood was just amazing, 1 of my fav anime alongside with Death note, One piece, Bleach, SAO, AoT, Gintama

i lost interest in Naruto when most of akatsuki died and its goona end soon... childhood nearly ending T_T but still it deserve its place in "The Big 3"

As one piece, the story development is just the best

Looking at those animes, the first names that come to my head are:
  • Angel Beats
  • Ben-to
  • Hataraku Maou-sama! (a.k.a. The Devil is a Part-timer)
  • Log Horizon
  • Problem children are coming from Another world, aren't they?
  • Guilty Crown
.
All of them except Log Horizon are completed. The first 5 have the "awesome action with bits of comedy and romance" feel that I got from Naruto, SaO, Fairy Tail, etc.

Guilty Crown doesn't have as many comical moments but it has an epic story and action scenes. Personally, I rank it among my top favourite animes with SaO. If you liked SaO, then I think you'll like this one too!

Here's a Guilty Crown gif
