They can be a free/easy source of 2/2 gems for F2P
I have a handful of them stashed in case the TW changes in the new patch cause them to count as "less" of a gem than the ones we typically use, but outside of that, they are at best equivalent to available sources of 2/2 gems.
Of note, there is one that shows it gives like +12 str or something, but its just a tooltip error.
