Due to work i donth have time to play so Much anymore and now toying with the idea of making a brand New f2p char/account.

Than my question is. What class would you reccomend for mostly pve Stuff, like solo abit tougher mobs or generaly farming?

    Druid - 9/10
All specs can solo content with ample healing, mobility and damage.
Fun class to have as you fill all 4 rolls of the game, tank, melee dps, ranged dps, healer.
Loads of gear sets to look out for so it will keep you busy for months.

    Monk - 8/10
3 specs to choose from, all can solo pve content just fine.
Mistweaver will have the best chance of taking on tougher mobs and exploring. Having access to the fang set makes gearing pretty easy.

    Warrior - 4/10
As a free to play and no Crusader enchant your solo ability is greatly diminished.
Still a fun class to play with 3 unique specs to choose from. If you want a challenge go for a warrior.

    Paladin - 9/10
Strong heals, cooldowns and damage. 3 specs to give you a variety of playstyles & gear to obtain. This will keep you busy

    Shaman - 8/10
Resto shaman is one of the strongest free to play classes imo. It doesn't rely on enchants or professions as much as other classes/specs do (just hidden damage multipliers blizzard deems fine...smh).
Enhancement is a fun and rarely seen f2p spec, damage is fairly lacklustre.
Elemental can do some surprising burst.

    Rogue - 7/10
Although rogues don't have any built in heals they have evasion and stealth. Both of which allow you to do things most classes can't.
Being a stealthy rogue exploring, teetering on the edge of agroing mobs or alerting enemy players is always a fun game to play.

    Hunter - 8/10
Pets, kiting and mobility give Hunters their high marks. They can tag mobs from afar and burst them down without much trouble.
Tracking and Eagle Eye make for great tools to explore.
Tracking down pets to tame and building a collection is a lot of fun too.

    Warlock - 7/10
Under-represented in the f2p crowd but offer a lot of potential for pve and exploring.
Pets can tank, dots can tag mobs and they have aoe to burst them down.
Drain life heals for quite a lot & healthstone is useful.
Mount at 20 is nice too

    Mage - 5/10
    Range, cc, mobility and damage.
With no sustain, damage mitigation or similar they will struggle in pve situations unless you prepare well.

    Priest - 8/10
Disc priests have always been amazing. Having a bubble allows for you to do much more than other classes. Damage is good too without relying on enchants too much.
Shadow is a fun spec to play but the damage is low without enchants.
Holy is a solid healer and a fun spec to play if you want to break up the Disc playstyle.

Every big patch change class/spec's mechanics so don't decide your solo char. base on the patch avaible now.

I advice choosing a class with
    -Heals
-have tank spec. (You don't have to play tank spec.)

//Paladin is always a good chooice. I've experience since Catac.

Druid and pally absolutely the rank 1 pve classes.

Available tank spec means you won't get dazed running through higher level zones, making exploration a breeze.

Strong heals and good physical damage (this is important on higher level mobs) mean you can actually solo things.

And to Lecolas point, shit is constantly changing but through everything, in any patch, low level druids and pallies have always been strong. The kit is just really good.

I would highly recommend a tauren pally or druid.

If you are farming groups of weak mobs, I suggest mages since they are the only ones with spammable aoe (Arcane Explosion).
The lack of heals should be mended if you can have acess to the BoA trinket that heals 2% on enemy kills.

Druid or Paladin, both have access to all 3 specs. Healing for keeping yourself alive, DPS if you feel like doing damage, and tank for not getting dismounted while PvE exploring. Protection is also probably the best spec for big dungeon pulls. I lean more towards paladin because you can customize armor more than a druid (like prot using mail and leather pieces that provide more survivability.) Every other class just isn't as good, but that shouldn't stop you if you REALLY like warrior or something.

I mean, Tenshin is a warrior. Babydoll is a hunter. It doesn't matter *that* much

I think the only silly classes for pve adventures would be like... mage and warlock. Though I suppose a case could be made for the current iteration of demo lock but that could change wildly from xpac to xpac

As long as Warlock keeps drain life I think they'll be fine.

Having dots and pets makes a huge impact on what you can do on a class. The case of missing abilities on tougher high level enemies can be mitigated with dots. Landing it once will secure substantial damage compared to classes that rely on a rotation of one hit abilities.

I'm trying to think of why Warlock has never really peaked in the low brackets and it probably comes down to their lack of burst. They're great at padding out the damage meter but it's difficult to make it meaningful. I had a f2p lock in cata and affliction could easily top the charts every game, killing blows are another story.

there's a difference between playing a lock in pvp and trying to tackle stronger pvp mobs.

Spells just don't hit. You're gonna die waiting to land a drain life or hoping your agony ticks for 12 damage are enough to justify missing 15 times before one lands.

Trying to do the SM clear as a mage was infuriating. Some pulls were fine but most of the time holy shit nothing landed. Could spend your entire mana bar + evo just to land a single spell

fwiw I've played nothing but twink warriors since wrath. I swapped focus on my F2P account to my Druid this xpac because it's just fundamentally a better class for pve shenanigans.

Kudos for starting a thread with so many great responses! I think a few of the aforementioned insights are probably worth highlighting...

I think your question as phrased was answered most-simply by @LecolaEU:
...that's really all you need to know. The ability to endure harder-hits and heal damage just makes tougher-encounters easier. ;)

Underrated observations. WoW isn't a static game: gear-stats change, class-specs change, times change... so when the biggest "changes" strike, whichever class has the most gear/spec options is the least-likely to suffer.

    ...and that's Druid.

(I'm proudly #TeamPally4Lyfe... but I've wasted hundreds of hours soloing dungeons for strength-items that never dropped, and I lay-awake at night worrying that a future patch will revoke our Divine Shield like they did our Lay on Hands.)

Combine that with the Druid's ability to "shift" their role mid-battle, and they literally become "an army of one".

I can't stress-enough how comforting it is to encase oneself in full-survival-plate and just ride in a straight line to wherever your destination is, with complete disregard for any threats along the way. :D

Which brings-up an additional point... if you eventually "catch the bug" and decide to push the limits of what a solo F2P can achieve, then the Paladin's Divine Shield is quite simply a game-changer. Whether it's a bugged objective, or surviving just-long-enough to reach/interact-with/get-credit for something... immunity has the potential to make "the impossible" possible.

(Heck, sometimes I'm lazy-enough that I use it just to accept holiday-quests in the wrong-faction's city! :p)

...but seriously, if your "free time" is limited then there will always be more-than-enough content to keep you entertained, no matter what class you choose to play.

TL;DR -- All of our advice it worthless, play whatever-the-fuck-you-want... because the Shadowlandsleveling-redesign is coming and until we get details, anything-is-possible and "F2P character planning" has no meaning anymore.

Rolling Paladin or Druid because it has access to all 3 specs is advice that will stand forever. Everyone else's advice is useless, sure. x)
