Questions from a returning player

Yo, I have been considering returning to twinking for a while now, and was wondering if any of you active players could answer some questions for me. It would be greatly appreciated.
  • How active are the 20-29 and 30-39 brackets in EU?
  • How is the class balance? Are any classes highly superior atm? Especially concerning healers
  • Is this spreadsheet up to date regarding enchants? https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...6Hsjw9Rs6uprLUykbHJE2wQy6s/edit#gid=510639916
  • I'm seeing a much larger variation in gear on the armories than back when I still played, is this because people cba to 100% gear their twinks, or because there isn't one absolute BiS anymore?
  • I havn't leveled a single char since Legion, so could anyone explain how this new 1-60 dungeon scaling thing works? And how does it affect BoE drops
  • And wtf is all this stuff with asmongold?

1. 20-29 is pretty active. 30-39 is active 2, but not sure how active.

2. Most classes are viable, but these classes stand out the most:

Top tier dps: balance/arcane/fury warr/MM hunt

Honorable mentions:
- Arms warr: pretty strong 2, but ppl stuck with fury cus' its broken and 2 blind to notice I guess.
- Outlaw rogue: not as much dmg as the classes above (still good tho), but the CC makes up for the lack of dmg compared to the top tier dps.

Top tier healers: disc/MW/rshammy
*Since u are mostly interested in healers:
- Disc: best overall healer
- MW: insane healing, but the dmg is pretty strong aswell (Probably best pure healer)
- Rshammy: insane dmg, tanky and strong healing (3rd best healer, but 1st/2nd when it comes to healer dps and even 1 of the best dps classes in general)

Honorable mention:
- Rdruid: insane mobility and tanky (best fc), 2x swiftmend is OP and tops people (hots are good), moonfire/sunfire with ele force pumps.
***But in a real mid fight it needs to be paired up with another good healer to really excel so u can put up ur hots, spread ur dots and top people off with swiftmend.

3. Spreadsheet is updated.

4. A lot of people just don't have bis / don't know what bis is or they prefer their own build over "general bis".

5. Dungeons scale to ur level and so does the gear. Not sure how BoE drops work exactly, but u can find loads of threads about it.

6. Asmon is trying out 39s, cus' his friend asked him to and people are being retarded on some threads for no reason.

I don’t play 29s/39s (I have an old 29 and used to have a 39) so if anyone wants to correct me feel free.

About your questions regarding armories being different, that answer is for several reasons.

#1) now adays, there are many more items available than there used to be, and these items offer much more customization. Scaling dungeons helps add to the list of potential items.

2) back in the day, certain enchants were CLEAR winners and thus made certain gear “required”. In 29s, I can think of the weapons that had an item level higher than 35 so that you could use enchants like mongoose (which didn’t scale back then). Master hunters bow, crescent of forlorn, etc.

3) GfD gear. Pretty simple. Lots of the BiS gear is flat out no longer obtainable. Simple right? Well.. not really. There may be 4 items that are “Bis” or, a better term, better than anything currently obtainable. What ends up happening is that you get various people gearing based on what they still have from the old days.

4) A little bit of what you said. Some people can’t be bothered. Not in the sense that you mean though. These BG crates have a chance to drop items with different stats, and have a very small chance to have a “single stat” (adaptable anyone?). The grind for these is somewhat similar to the charged gears, but you have to run endless bgs and can’t just farm them. Idk how many of these crates I’ve gotten, but I have more than 20 blues of each slot, and still don’t have a single stat blue on my rogue.

Hope this helps.

1. Rather active and pops most of the day. dies usually after 3am. Some epic bgs at 20-29 after 4pm sundays.

2. Class balance is decent bar few exceptions such as fury warriors, disc priests and arcane mages living that dream.

Premades are strong negative factor.

4. Dungeon bop gear scale to same ilevel so the only difference is secondary stats. Blue bg box gears are still best you can get now. world events scale to 20 so able to get items from love in the air, mid summer, brewfest and hollows end event.

5/6.

Dungeon scales to your level. 20s still get same total number available to them however if u level 60 you can que any vanilla dungeon and it will scale to your level.

Loot
Blues: character level +3 ilevels.
Greens: character level +3 ilevels but most of the times the greens you get are dropped as if you are level 16-19 so you endup with fewer ilevels from it overall.

some exceptions on world drop boe blue gear goes to +i6 but only from gnomeregan dungeon where you basically cheesing the system. Sometimes you get old unscaled i25 greens from dungens and rare mobs.

Values are off and difference between i24 and i26 for example basically none existing.
Hence you can get green bg ring with same amount of stats as blue ring.

There are several stages of rng regarding bg boxes. random slot item. random quality of item. random stats on item and random amount of said stats. So as an example you can get a blue ring with 3 vers and 1 crit and you can get a blue ring with 4 vers and 1 crit.

Also any future patch can remove or add those extra stats on blue gear retroactively so try get as many as you can.

Mic drop.

Worth noting that discs are taking a hit due to the return of weakened soul in 8.1 (making pws have a cd effect on x target that recieved a pws prior to that).

Personally I'd go with MW for healer in the lower brackets. Insane throughput, got sweet dmg and are pretty mobile. For 39+, play whatever interests you the most.

Thanks guys, exactly what I was looking for!
Final question, does anyone know the stat priority for strength, agi and intellect users?
So far I've heard that 1 agi = 2 vers = 4/5 crit/haste, and same for int. Can anyone give some info on this?

For casters you'd usually wanna go for a 0.2 sec cast reduce and fill the rest out with int/versa, but if u wanna go full int/versa that'll work aswell.
For str users you'd want str > a good mix of haste/versa for warriors and retri, but warriors can also use crit depending on what u prefer.
For agi users you'd want agi > versa > crit.
I'd say 1 agi/int is probably around like 2,5 - 3 versa.

Edit: At 29 you want 51 haste for 0.2 sec cast reduce.

And for ele shammy you'd want a bit of crit aswell cus' earth shock is ur only real big dmg ability
For some reason I found the breakpoint for 0.2 sec reduced cast time to by 48 haste on my void elf priest, any idea why?

Some races have racials that give u extra haste, but it might just be that priest needs less than other classes. I haven't touched priest in a while so not sure if it's the race or the class.
