    Start Date 09 November 2018 /6:00 PM PST / XPoff.com Discord Here

    What are the In-house Wargames?

The Horde In-house Wargames will be a bi-weekly event that will give players looking for a casual-yet competitive environment a home.

We will be organizing 10v10 or 15v15 Horde Only Matches with an RBG Ruleset through the Wargame feature in World of Warcraft. (Alliance welcome to Join )

Currently there seems to be a lot more active Horde Twinks on at all hours so this be will be a great way to get some true TWINK vs TWINK only games.

    AGENDA
    • Create a competitive atmosphere for those searching for an even playing field with a strong sense of community.

    • Create a fun and easy way to play the characters we have spent so much time gearing and learning.

    • A weekly or Bi-Weekly event that will run multiple hours giving us a varied and incredibly fun Insta-Q gaming session.

    RULES
    • Teams will compete with RBG Rules (No consumables, etc)

    • There will be a certain gear expectation to make sure teams are balanced.

    • Games will continue until we lack numbers.

    • Discord is mandatory for communication purposes. (Mic is highly encouraged)

    • Battlegrounds chosen will depend on the amount of players available. (CTF for 10v10 and AB for 15v15)

    • Max of 3 of the same class allowed. (Looking at you warriors)

    • Max of 4 healers. (Any Spec)

    • Trolling behavior will NOT be tolerated. (1 strike rule)

    JOIN US

To join the Wargames all you have to do is create and Xpoff account and sign your name on this thread with your character name and a link to your armory.

By signing up you are required to abide by the rules set by the leaders of the Wargames.

If you have any suggestions or special skills you could bring to the table please comment that as well!

Really excited to kick this thing off the ground and see you guys THIS FRIDAY in the battlefield.

    IN CONCLUSION

Taking matters into our own hands!

Part of the reason we have decided to start this was the fact that lately we have been waiting an incredible long time between games and once we are in game they don’t seem to be very even in terms of the amount of twinks. We believe that bringing the like-minded players together can be the start of something great.

Follow up dates will be decided over the next few days and I will be updating this post to make things clear.

Should be fun, someone ought to stream them.

This strikes me as something that might work in the short term, riding on the waves of current enthusiasm and all, but I think the life blood of any bracket is always the pub games (and by extension a good way of determining the health of a bracket). The same kind of thing happened during WoD revival, pub games were horribly imbalanced, queues died and people tried to switch to wargames. Ofc, games will never completely die with levelers now added to games but I think the principle is the same.

I'm always skeptical when people say, 'we want competitive games' but then never roll the opposite faction and gleefully continue to pub stomp with 5-man tier-1 comps, guzzle wildvine pots like water, pop drums against levelers, gy farm with flag, etc. until the queues dry up. It's pretty damn easy/fast to get solid gear and last time I checked there are some guilds offering funding. If you're concerned about pops, why not roll an alliance toon instead of treating queue droughts as some sort of unexplained phenomenon?

Keep in mind these are just in-houses we're talking about. In no way do we want to exclude or forget about the Alliance. This is simply something to have a consistent basis in which we can get fast games that are also balanced. This is to encourage the ENTIRE 39 community to pull our time and resources together in order to move forward and create a well-oiled-machine through systematic process. That being said, this is just the beginning.

Such gutless trash talk when you’ve got no intent on backing it up.

I believe this was more of a passive-aggressive nudge towards encouraging the Alliance community to do the same. Instead of complaining about imbalance, organize yourselves and create the balance. Throw all toxicity and personal-grudges aside, it's up to us as a community to make this happen because nobody else is going to do it for us.

But saying that doesn't make the games any less trash or extend pops later into the night. Not to exhaust the comparison, but this was exactly the same sentiment expressed during WoD revival -- 'alliance should just get better'. I think it remains the case that if horde players are truly interested in fostering competition, the surest way would be rolling an alliance toon to help shift the scales for when those 5 good alliance players aren't on hand. It's basic bracket stewardship.

Yeah, I just think it acknowledges a problem and then doesn't really address the root cause.

Removing 20-30 twinks from random Qs is certainly the way to promote bracket wide activity.

I understand what your coming from but we are looking for specifically wargames so we can have higher level premades, not half of horde going alliance and still having mediocre pugs.

The great thing is is that the queing system can que 10v10's alliance v alliance/ horde v horde or horde v alliance, theres no reason not to do wargames to reach higher level/more balanced games. Its not just about skill its also about balancing classes/specs in the wargames for optimal competition.

There should be no reason for alliance to get upset as they have more then enough to create their own 10 man. Also half the alliance have horde characters and if they dont, it takes maybe 2 days at most to gear a 39 to a competitive standard.

I believe theres enough alliance to get together for 10 mans i just believe not enough are driven enough to do wargames like allot of the horde players are. (There are enough good players to play, alliance just doesn't have as many leaders as horde does, thats the problem)

Anyways i see only positives to this, even if this lasts for a few months we can go back to pugs anyways so theres no real loss to this, only gain.

Also, you guys have to think about it how people that twink, there are some that go where the competition is... I personally love the competition and just like to make a toon in every bracket that has competition.
As a comparison, i know its not 100% viable, as 19 is the easiest bracket to get into, but 19 had wargames nearly every day for a while, and i haven't seen much of that happening anymore and it might just be due to the TC being done with and everyone is burnt out.
Otherwise, players that like competition will gravitate to the bracket that shows the most competitive edge. If we can make a community of competitive minded people, i think there will be activity to be made there.

Also, with more activity in competitive players, people also gravitate to the bracket with the most activity, if we can show the activity in general, people will come.

I guess what i'm trying to get at is that it's all a domino effect, we get the wargames that are lacking in other brackets, but some people only play twinks to play vs other good twinks, so they will go where the wargames go. After that the activity will bring more to our pugs, etc, etc.

I might have it all wrong, but it's not like i can't be optimistic.

Also, i do 100% agree if people want more competitive pugs, more good people need to make ally toons, i personally did this at 29 because its the same deal.

EDIT: I'm not at all saying there are not any good ally 39s, as i'm sure there are, its just not as common as what I've seen on Horde.

So as many of you know, I'm doing my best to queue with many of the new alliance players and teach them our ways, but it takes time to bring them to a level where they can be competitive against the horde right now (you guys have two people with jackhammers for crying out loud). I'm one of the only alliance players who has never rolled horde precisely because of the problems we have had in the past with balance in the bracket (I know a lot of people have asked me to go horde lol). Right now we MIGHT have enough GOOD alliance to roll a competitive 10v10, but literally ALL the good players would have to be on the same night, which doesn't happen often.

Now that Asmongold is out of the bracket (which I predicted would happen), the surge in enthusiasm has died for many alliance players. The few that stuck around are either hardened veterans like myself, or completely new to twinking in general. And when the vets are not on to help the newbs, it gets ugly quick and in a hurry. Just as in any sport, you need coaches to help cultivate the next generation of talent. We can't expect the new players to be any good unless we coach them. If you guys really want to see the bracket get better like I do, get on your alliance toons, and start queuing with the new guys. But you need to be constructive in your criticism, or else this will backfire pretty spectacularly.

Eh, wargames are totally different when there are infinite pops in merged BGs. They don't have to be a long term solution, pug games will always happen. It can be hard to catch opposing groups, especially with queue times getting kind of offset (maybe getting people specific queueing a couple BGs could help with this?). Evenly matched games just aren't going to happen consistently with levelers. Making that happen a couple nights a week shouldn't hurt anything.

This is true, and treating the factions as separate communities is ridiculous. More people should play both factions. It's not a reason to avoid wargames though, you can have both.
