I wanna make a island twink of these 2. Already have a druid but I want another twink but not sure which of the 2 I should gear up. I have at 100 I gotta level a little but then gonna gear 1 of them.

Mage is lackluster for islands. I’ve tried all 3 specs and can’t 1 pull without dieing.

My guess is lock would be much better especially as affliction. You can just dot as you go and might be able to survive a lot easier

I second Veechard. Go lock if you're strictly thinking islands. Way too much CC for a mage to do those large pulls consistently.

Meant to comment on this, but forgot bc the cast I'm in. There in an island aff build if you haven't already started your character

  5. My mage is 272 and got a 40 neck... still die on island pulls unless I have a dedicated healer... but if I do tho.. the pulls are massive and damage is nasty.i run arcane mostly

Nice Gear, I was curious to level up my mage and gear him up, shouldnt frost be insane for Masspulls / AoE?

Honestly it’s not the damage that’s the issue it’s the survivability.

As for pure damage single target arcane rules I can pull 15-20k during lust phase.

Fire I can get some real juicy 80k pyroblast Crits out.

Frost I feel is a bit lack lustre

Affliction with the slow legendary and some levels of leech is really nice for islands, but is this the setup your using on island expeditions for your mage? If so, I would advise you to try a complete different setup when it comes to your azerite pieces, even if it means using 285 in all slots. For survivability you definitely want 3x Quick Thinking, the defensive traits you have are really lackluster, but arcane with 3x quick thinking has like the highest sustained selfheal out of all classes I tried at 110 so far(depending on the situation since it doesnt scale with target numbers, but even with one target you can get 6k+ HPS as long as you only use AE and AB). You still wont be able to endlessly pull, but for me it was like going from not even being able to solo some legion nhc dungeons to being able to solo most of them in hc and some on mythic, although it means sacrificing some damage.
