I don't think you can scale them down to lvl 5 with the GM trick, only up, because if the GM sends the item to your mailbox it will just scale to it's lowest/original ilvl?

Atleast a Vibroblade couldn't get scaled down further than lvl 24 for me, got it sent to my mailbox on a lvl 19 by a GM and it appeared as lvl 24 the original version.
 
It was off a GM, tried to get them scaled to 29 but he fucked up and sent level 5 version
 
yall outright asking at this point or just timing out your mail and hoping for the best?
 
I've realized that most GM's don't even understand their own scaling system after chatting with one of them about it. So, I'm pretty sure tricking them into scaling an item will be more success than failure.

But if you do get caught by one of them, how long of a ban would you get?
 
Excuse my ignorance if I'm wrong on the method but are you guys just buying boes off the ah and letting the mail timer run out then asking the GM to restore said lost items? Also if this is indeed the method your chances of getting banned are probably pretty low. If the GMs are as stupid as yall are saying they are they probably arent checking on influxes of keywords in help requests.
 
To clear the air on this... I only know of one person who has been banned trying to get items like these to scale- and it was for like 3 days. The reason he was banned was not because of what he was doing- but because he opened like 10+ tickets for the exact same thing.

I know countless others who have lost their items, with Gms not completing the request
 
I did this with Blackened Defias gear and what I noticed was that after the GM restoring and scaling it, I would be able to restore my old unscaled item myslef (Basicly duping it). So ofc I restore that one and make a new ticket so they could scale it again. Got caught and only got a warning. Dont think you can get banned for it.

This is one way and another way is equipping the item, and having it sent to whichever character you wanted it on. There's a chance for it to scale down/up to the level of the character it's being sent to. From what I've seen/heard, not always successful, but this does work.
 
So to do the trick you just buy an item from the auction house on a character which is of the level that you want the item scaled to? (For example I buy a lvl 21 BvB on a lvl 29 rogue).

Then you leave it in the mailbox for 30 days and open a ticket and asks a GM to restore it. What if the GM just tells you To go on their website and restore it yourself? Do you just use the excuse that it's bugging and not working?
