Someone stopped me in game today and told me that the best gear for 10 twinks was using doubloons from IE for ilvl 30 gear. I'm a recent returning player and know nothing about this. Is this true and if so what gear are they referring to? I always thought the best gear was BC dungeons.

You are correct. IE gear no good.

I believe the Dubloon gear tokens will scale to your level which is ilv14 for a 10 I believe. They can upgrade as well I believe but are probably nowhere near the power of TBC gear with slots.
