Is the currently known "meta" for 30s in timewalks still to go off-stat gear with sockets?

So ignoring "normal" dungeons and "normal" world content - if we're building a character for timewalks specifically, at level 11 the "meta" is to get wrong stat gear (so no strength as warrior, for example) and get as many sockets (with secondaries) as possible on rest of gear.

Is that meta same for 30s? Do we just want to go for, say, mail/leather/cloth gear with no str, and focus on sockets as much as possible? Or does it feel different at 30?

Has anyone tried some timewalks (either SL that was just post-squish, or cata that just ended)?

You definitely don't want to ignore main stat with 30's. The old guide that Druidman had for almost all the classes said "Main stat is king!".
We are using gear from all over the place. Mostly Sunwell, Ulduar, BT, RS. Rings, necks we got from DF with only secondaries, but you can't socket them anymore. Trinkets vary widely depending on class. You can check out Legacy 30's armories in the "Retail 30's armory" post at the top of the forum.

You are missing the fact that since Midnight prepatch, they changed how Timewalks scale. Having more mainstat is same as "having more ilvl for scaling" basically, meaning mobs have more hp and hit you for more.

At level 11, the meta strat is to have no mainstat on ANY gear. Including wearing agility mail gear on your warriors. Because the less str you have, the "less" mobs scale, meaning your high secondaries overwhelm them.
