i-DK what to do

I am wanting to build a dk and have a love for the frost spec. But I can't seem to find what the preferred weapons are for this. I have found everything for both unholy and blood. But can't seem to find this information for frost.

Going off mirrorbenders spreadsheet, Cudgel/Truncheon looks like the best available combo for DK (assuming OP doesnt have Hellscream heirlooms)

I'd also recommend https://www.wowhead.com/item=10847 as an extra/alternate main hand as DK kind of sucks and the dragons are a lot more fun...

Unless you get an epic cudgel reward proc, then just flaunt that shit for swag.

edit- gonna look up the tooltip difference between the two, before i get yelled at for bad advice....

ok, here's HB tootlip damage side-by-side on my DK, outside BG. Left is Dragon wep and right is green cudgel:

Literally 2-3 damage difference with all the melee attacks, in favor of cudgel obviously, not gonna show those. Have fun!

(ermm... just saw ele force on my weps... guess I decided that since crusdader is melee-proc and I wont ever do that, ele is better.... not gonna suggest that, but theoretically it's sensible... I think. I never bothered to BG so no idea.)

Now here me out on this fellas, I have been toying around with frost dk recently and I am going to just lay it all out on the table. You should be avoiding melee as much as possible. keep things at bay with chains of ice while rotting them down with frost fever. Only enter melee when its safe. run with deathchill pvp talent to keep enemy teams rooted while using grip to pull vulnerable healers/etc into your melee.

frost fever will be your top damage, rot enemy teams down in team fights and rot enemies down while kiting them in 1v1's for ranged just stay on top of them permanently because dk. Run tailoring for nets and eng for bombs for extra cc. Some of the biggest threats atm are surv and fury warriors which need to be in melee. Don't use the eng trinket warriors will heal off your pet with sader procs.

Play it with a team oriented mindset and not a 1vX xxgodxx mindset. The reason why I dont use sader myself is because I only enter melee when tis safe so not a whole lot of opportunities to proc the enchant, also you wont win in a straight up brawl with a warrior...they will out proc sader on you anyday.

I could be 100% wrong and I am open to feedback.

Yeah... might negate my whole wep suggestion. Not sure if those are targetable or not tho.

edit- HEY! while we're on a plate topic, is doomplate 2 pc 9 crit or 12 in BG's? I saw i never got the gloves on my DK....

Weapon damage enchants aren't really good for anything besides ferals now. https://www.wowhead.com/spell=60707/superior-potency is better than any of the available weapon damage enchants since they were nerfed for the mage tower.

Were they? I will have to go and recheck then. If not weapon damage on mh then just straight up potency or ele force.

Yeah, based on the numbers from Chey's feral thread, it looks like they are all +3 weapon damage or less now except https://www.wowhead.com/spell=20030/superior-impact which is +4 and 2H only. +3 MH damage is worth (3/2.6)*6 or 6.92ish MH attack power, whereas https://www.wowhead.com/spell=60707/superior-potency is 7 AP at 20, 10 AP at 29, and it applies to your off hand attacks too.

Nah, thats just what the tooltip says. Don't trust the tooltips. If you do a head to head against superior potency, it'll lose.

I think the best combo for a ranged frost dk is like Chops said, cudgel/truncheon. Cudgel, due to having a weapon speed of 3.6 its amazing for proc based enchants, even if its green,and it synergies extremly well with EF enchant and a haste stacking build. I would like to ask tho, for the off hand, truncheon or not, wouldn't razorrice rune enchant be BIS? Due to increase frost dmg?

I went with crusader on my UH DK, just like everyone else, because of how OP it was (100 str) back then, now it's even more OP (40 str, 1.5k heal). If it gets fixed, who knows.

Back on topic, Purple Cudgel is BiS MH imo. Not sure if OH dps is relevant on a frost Dk, if not you can get creative, vibroblade, truncheon...

Maybe? I have no idea what frost DKs are doing dmg wise these days (I just... never see one) but I would assume if you're going for a "plate wearing warlock" build, you'd want to run double ele force. I'd never even considered Razorice but lookin at it now that looks like a really compelling choice if you're in a game where the clashes are going to be a bit longer. Thinking like... fairly twink heavy EOTS here or something like that.
