How to set up a Power Level: Retail

This thread is dedicated to the exploration and exploitation of methods involving starting, maintaining and enhancing a "Power Level" aka "Boost". Ultimately this thread is to be built up so it may be added to the Power Level Tier List.

Tips before we start: Advise your customers to slowly tp out with the eyeball button if they need to. Phat fingers can ruin a power level or set it back several minutes in order to reform. Please only advertise in allowed channels in-game. You can and will get reported in mass for abusing the wrong channel. Many people hate twinks so just laugh and continue wrecking npc health bars. Don't feed the Angry Troll!

History of Xp off Debuff

With PVE Boost Twinking fresh off the high of 101' Legion toons, we all looked for the next best thing. We found 110 twinks for Isle and freehold carries. Sadly Bobby needed a new boat so he himself coded in all the changes concerning this article Freehold/island 8.2. Changes. This resulted in the current system where xp off players nerf xp of manually invited party members. No doubt Bobby got his boat form the sales of shop boosts. /clap for bobby and his new boat

Methods to begin a Carry

Chromie Crawl

Method #1 The Chromie Crawl: Assuming your customer is level 10 have them queue for a random Mop dungeon. At 10 the only random MoP is Jade temple. As the Booster you need to specifically que jade temple if you have more than 1 dungeon in the mop list. Communicate with your customer when the queue pops. If you've received the prompt to enter simultaneously than you're good to go. Once in you're ready to begin the 2-3 hour boosting process. after the Jade Temple switch to Chromie time classic. Work your way though Randoms until most are done. At this point specific que to finish all the remaining classic dungeons with quests remaining. Switch to BC and then Lich when finished with the prior expansion. Takes roughly 2-3 hours for a Chromie Crawl Power level barring no obstacles.

The Wod Grind

Method #2 The Wod Grind: Same as method 1 but the booster exclusively queues for WOD dungeons after the Jade temple queue fishing. This results in an additional hour added to the boosting time. WF items will give your carry the feeling of reward whilst also being boosted. This will Net you more gold and more gear.

Isle Expo

Method 3 is pretty simple but due to less party slots can be slightly less relieable. Late at night/morning is best. Just que isle expos and spam those over and over. HAVE TO TEST IF THIS PARTY CAN BE CONVERTED TO INSTANCE GROUP FOR 5 MANS 3-5 hours

The ole switch-a-roo

Reports are coming in that turning off your xp after getting into the dungeon can allow for easier targeted party formation. BEWARE!!!!! Methods such as this are all Chainsaws and Rainbows until you end up getting xp somehow. BE VERY CARFUL IF EXPLOITING THE SWITCH-A-ROO. Turn xp back on when resetting this process for a new buyer group.

Retail value

Whatever you can fool people into thinking 5 minute levels cost between a 1-5 minutes CD. Actually making for a 8-10 minute level. lets not sugar coat this by saying its just 5 minutes of time a dungeon. There is seldom an instant queue if you are finishing in under 6 minutes. Most will sell and buy for around 2-5k a level. It is better to the customers eye to see an ad like "50k gold per 10 levels" Rather than "5k a level". I could put as much effort into following a booster as I could questing. Now, that's obviously not what a buyer thinks. But 80% of the time they don't know a wod queue has like a 20% chance of containing a twink.

Actual value considering free boosters

500-1k gold a run. No one is geared enough nor skilled enough to charge 2k without it being a bad deal; even in exploited gear! At that point you are ripping the person off. regardless of server 2k-5 a run is too much. You might as well learn to exploit DH skips and play 20 boosting, skipping to last boss when possible. That being said, if you can have someone pay you 2k+ a run, more power to you. Ripping people off might spread bad word-of-mouth though. actual value is 500-1k because you are not unique and any wod queue can bring a twink into your carries party. That also means if you run into another twink while boosting and don't outshine them you actually become a joke in the eyes of the carry especially if your charging a ridiculous amount. If you're not a giga-chad-twink don't sell runs just yet. Imagine paying for something just to look over to the left and see it cleaner, faster or for free..

No, that's not me but its someone I go to church with.
Literally every wod dungeon I get into I go over the history of twinking, xpoff, power progression in general and so much more. Gotta spread the good word of the xpoff scripture. I may have motived this person to do what they are doing. I was One of the only 11 bear in BFA AND SL. but I doubt if I did inspire this person it was that far back. I've gotten like 40 people to make 11 bears and constantly ask me to help feed their toons. I ABSOLUTLY LOVE IT!

Reading the comments on that reddit make be EL OH EL. People often don't understand half of the things they pay for. They just skim the surface thinking this is a new thing or an exploit because it looks like cheats.

This may not even be a boost but rather they are farming 2nd boss for speed tert pants.

I do have negative things to say about this video though. from a methodology point of view. I'll just say pulling for glory makes us look sloppy.

 

Supply and demand lowers the value. They can get a twink just by queing for wod without needing a power leveler to manually run them. If you want to charge 2k for 5 minutes of work it sounds like a good trade. Until another twink shows up or they get a twink organically on another toon. Since we are already running wod it is not bad gold per hour at 500g a run x1-4 people. Idk what else we got going for us? 6goldx4 per 5 minutes. Get all that 2 gold from looting thrash....wait we don't loot trash cause we only loot bosses. how much is a WF vendor? 16 silver.

Therefore, yes, it is good gold per hour...

I wouldn't worry about blizzard doing anything. We are such high hanging fruit. Always have been always will be.

This is what im coining as "Glory Pulling". When a tank doesn't care about mob agro/hp/kiting. Resulting in sloppy runs and dead questers. Draining our already sketchy standing in the community of whatever honor it has.

 

There are social contracts between roles that need to be met in order for the game to run smoothly. I do personally feel that pulling for glory is against these social contracts. I am not speaking about blizzards new PC attempt at a tos.

Twinks that don't know this are the problem, not the solution. Each moment can be a one off but if anyone constantly pulls like the above reddit video they are indeed a bad twink imho. Somewhat @thready so I'll stop there about that example.

Dependency on others pushes us to work together. Self Sufficiency leads to enabling micro and macro vacuums of bandwagoning. Instances where a player expects a role to interact and intervene; so they pull as if they will be safe regardless of the dictation of court vision. All roles interacting with one another within in a Twink environment will organically create bandwagoning; often many times a run. Even near 1 shotting toons seem to be victim to this logic as well.
