How do you twink?

I have been working on my 80 twink hunter for some time now, every week i try to get into the raids i need drops from (uld10, toc10 malygos and icc25 heroic). Took me 14 kills to get the gun off of XT 10 hardmode and still waiting on the trinket from Algalon. Still trying for drops in ICC25 heroic 16 kills or so on first couple and lot less on the last few since most grps dont finish.

Either way more so what i am asking is do you have sets (herald, icc and cata) you work on like myself or do you set out for a title like herald then lvl to 85? Do you PvP or just raid? Myself I just do the raids, i am not much for pvp. Soon as i have some money i want to transfer my 80 to an active guild i can do things with.

If you have some time tell me a story about your twink(s) and the work you have put into them.

As always have a good day!

Personally I made my twink in order to pass the time while there's nothing for me to do on my lvl 85.. I enjoy gearing up in BIS cataclysm blues, heroic icc/RS gear and obviously Herald gear. :) I also PvP quite a bit, so I'm also collecting wrathful for when it will be useful, I try to mix it up with cataclysm blues for more offensive power in bgs tho. :)

You mean there's stuff to do at 85? I stopped raiding DS heroics because they're boring as hell.

On topic; I play my twinks like I play(ed) my main at the level cap. I'm trying to find new challenges, and I like to do theorycrafting. Since twinks have finiite power, I like to try and maximise that in all possible ways, be it in pvp, pve, achievements, and soloing. Admittedly I'm slacking hard on the achievement front, but I'm having a lot of fun trying to solo raidbosses, as it's quite literally the biggest challenge I have ever had in WoW (As i said, heroic raids at levelcap are boring, and I get overly-frustrated with my old guild's rather low dps), which is nice.

I find the 80s bracket to be (on-average) more fun than the 70s bracket because the balance is better. Sure mages are really strong, but you have way more tools to counter them, and I've found if I use the right gear in PvP, it's more fun than my dk is at 70 (even with the lolglaives). Mastery is powerful (for nearly all classes), but the gem limitations basically put the gear in the right place, rather than sockets >>>> all.

However, I'm basically the only 80 twink on my server who puts the proper effort in, and as such I'm kinda stuck in a rut. I've been considering a realm transfer for a while now.

Hey there, my 80's twink used to be an alt in wrath of the lich king, the reason why i started twinking is because i just got bored of end game raiding and player vs. player, i'v been a 70's player for a wile now and when i reached my limit in terms of community ( 70's has a real terrible group of people ) i decided to try 80's, went into a couple of battlegrounds and i met Astrea i think the name was, one of the most skilled and friendly 80's players i have ever met, he and boedha ( a lvl 80 shaman ) are the main two reasons why i got into twinking, they made me see the potential of a good and geared 80's twink and i just felt a click, i decided to go healing because it was something i had never experienced in wrath.

As Splosion pretty much said the challenges are subjective, for me a challenge comes with arena wile trying to fight teams who more than anything else rely on cataclysm gear ( see cata mastery stacked mage with cata geared rogue ) or similar compositions, i enjoy getting groups to complete my set of achievements ( just finished all of the ulduar 25 achievements and nearly done with 10 man ones ).

In terms of raiding and creating groups i'm quite lucky to be on one of the best player vs. environment servers at the moment, i currently co-lead a icc 25 hc group ( 12/12 hc since months ) and lead halion 25 hc, totgc 25 hm and ulduar 25 hm, i was even more lucky meeting my 2's partner, another paladin, a great and amazing friend, who puts as much effort into his toon as i do with mine, and it turned out to be a true pleasure to raid lead with him, or just the two of us doing arena.

The bracket as Splosion said is more balanced than the 70's is, and the tools to compete are a lot more, just to make a blank example his ( Splosion ) gear set to counter frost mages is a pure blast making my duels against mages a lot more balanced.

To end it, i think that what gives me joy right now from twinking is, a better community overall, meeting real nice and enjoyable people wile achievement farming.

Balanced = Making lvl 85 fully pvp-geared frost mages cry because you resist everything he throws at you.

Nerf frost resist! :<

@Splosion How about Draenor? I could easily get you a social spot in the guild both me and Angel are in if you'd want that. And about things to do at 85; I agree, pve is dull.. Which is why I'm primarily a PvP'er on my main. (warrior)

Perhaps, but it's quite a move. I've got a rather massive base here on Lightning's Blade, hence why I'm considering it, but perhaps not doing it straight away.

Okay very slightly off-topic, but not worth making a new thread over (imo):

I used the Scroll of Ressurection so I now have a level 80 druid. Now, I already have a level 70 druid but I am wondering whether to make this 80 druid into an 80 twink.

What are the best tanks at 80? Is a Feral Druid PvE tank viable? How do we look for gearing, mostly Cata gear or requires a fair bit of raid gear? How viable in PvP? If viable, what is the most efficient spec in this bracket?

Regards.

tanks are viable, and its mostly all cata gear
good in pve as cat too

but cat for pvp, its pretty good

all 3 specs are pretty good at 80 tho

Blood dks > bears > warriors >paladins. Paladins lose out because their mastery is easy to cap and they don't get a shield wall. However, blood dks are ahead by a rather wide margin.

Cata gear is better than wotlk gear, but t10 4pc is pretty powerful.

Feral is rather crazy in pvp, I've seen 20k ferocious bites before now.

4pc is nice but the mitigation is hardly needed with si and barkskin + the massive armor, hp, dodge/mastery of cata pieces

You end up with choosing between burst survival (4pc) and higher average survival (cata gear). Both have use, but cata gear doesn't have that much more armor, even if you count contribution from thick hide.

Armor is just gravy. But there's really no need for 4pc with higher stam, agi, and 2dary stats on cata gear. You have si and bs for burst, can use Sindi trick for magic burst too. But with insane heals nowadays + bear mastery hp & dodge you'll be fine...it's really more of a choice between better tanking gear and gear for that one possible fight where you REALLY need one more CD at the cost of overall stats, and I can't think of that situation off the top of my head

I'm a collector twink, which means that my bank is full of gear I'll never use and that I have at least a hundred epic staffs 'cause I like how they look,

I pretty much collect everything for one level and then, never move on. Don't know collecting stuff keeps me busy. I even got a level 50 whos collecting all 40-50 weapons.

Sindragosa. And tanks ONLY care about burst damage taken, which means an extra cd is far greater than a few more stats, with the exception of a few encounters. Healers don't tend to care how much damage you take outside of the burst phases, which means extra gear doesn't mean a lot.

tanks only care about burst damage? not necessarily...its about long term survival hence EH and TTL n all that jazz. between bs, si, frenzied regen, dodge, mastery, you do not need 4pc t10 for fights, even sindy
dont forget about healer cds too, the tank doesnt have to cover everything when its a team game

Tanks only care about burst damage, because in most situations that is the only way you can die (other than healers moving/dying/ooming). Don't even make that argument. the tier 10 set bonuses are very strong (unless you're a paladin). EH an TTL revolve around burst damage taken.

4pc is extraneous. Theres no need for it with the CDs in a bears arsenal and their healers
Burst is kind of a misnomer anyways.. Bosses don't crit, you should know their swing timers, what abilities they use, when they're coming and when they're on cd. You then use that info to coordinate CDs with ur healers and fellow tanks. Icc was not designed around the 4pc bonus, it's balanced around existing CDs, therefore it's really not needed..Ao it's not really burst when it can be payed out and planned for, unlike pvp
