EU+US Gnome is the new master race in 10-19 bracket

Hello, I just wanted to share my findings that have led me to believe that gnomes are now, as of 7.0 the best race to play in the 10-19 bracket. Here is a list of reasons why.

  1. This is not new, but the gnomes racial passive [Expansive mind], which increases your maximum resource by 5%. Though it was nerfed a couple years back from 5% to 10% it is still a nice little perk, especially for classes with mana and energy. Their other passive, [Nimble fingers] gives a 1% haste increase aswell.
  2. This is not new either. But due to the nerf on humans racial [Every Man for Himself] now sharing a partial cooldown with the [Honorable medallion], having the gnome racial [Escape artist] which removes all immobilization or movement speed effects is just as useful to have if not more useful being that most classes have slows and not fears. This passive is a hard counter to rogues and mages in my experience.
  3. The most important thing that makes gnomes (and goblins for that matter) so special is the 15 level engineering buff. While 15 levels doesn't seem like much you get a few new recipes that make a big impact. There are 3 big recipes in specific i'd like to talk about.
  • The first engineering recipe i'd like to talk about you unlock at 165 engineering, the ability to use and create [Goblin Jumper Cables], a revive that any class can use as long as you have 165 engineering. making it extremely good in a tournament setting if you might not have the time to run all the way back to your body, or rez and run back to the action. The issue that I do have with this item is that it does have to be used while out of combat, which makes it kind of hard to use in a lot of situations. But it is still a rez that you wouldn't have otherwise. And who doesn't like resurrecting their friends?
  • The second item you gain the ability to create is at level 160 engineering, and that is the [Discombobulator Ray]. While there isn't an engineering requirement to use this item at all, It isn't a common item to come by on most realms. And having the ability to make these for yourself and your guildies puts you at a big advantage in BGs as they are really useful against anyone, and they give you quite the upper hand in 1v1s.
  • The third Item i'd like to go over is the [Portable Bronze Mortar], An item that serves the exact same function as the [Small Bronze Bomb]. At level 19 both of these items do the same amount of damage, at 72 fire damage. And both Incapacitate all targets withing a 5* yard radius for 2 seconds (Wowhead says a 3 yard radius), BUT the Mortar does not have a charge time. It is an instant cast, making it much more valuable. And as an added perk the Mortar has 8 charges, so you dont have to worry about making a ton of them all at once, you can make a couple or even just one at a time and use as needed.
  • Before i mislead everyone I would like to point out one downside to using these engineering devices. The [Discomobulator Ray] and the [Portable Bronze Mortar] share a 1 minute CD with [Drums of Fury]. While that is a setback, if you use these three items at the appropriate times it shouldn't be a huge issue.
The reason they may not be the best in the 20-29 bracket is because all races can reach up to 225 engineering in that bracket. Allowing everyone to have these recipes and even better ones.

I hope everyone enjoys my list of why gnomes are now the best race to play in the 10-19 bracket. I tried to be unbiased when making this thread by sharing the downsides to all of the perks gnomes have. Please comment below what your opinions are on what the best race may be.

19 twink - Cogmeister

Race differences are pretty minor for the most part - play whatever you want to. Lots of twinks don't use consumables like mortars, and the jumper cables are a fairly niche scenario. Expanded mind is nice - but really only means 1 extra abillity or cast, if that. Most races have a similar boost to nimble fingers.

Night elves are almost certainly better for rogues (shadowmeld with the 2s stealth cd is pretty strong, elusiveness for stealth speed). Orcs are good hunter picks with the 1% pet damage boost. Tauren get a stam boost and a stun which are pretty strong. Blood elfs have the aoe silence that returns resources which is still probably the best active racial by far. Undead have their fear trinket along with the extra shadow damage that heals.

That's because it is called Quickness.

Quickness is a different thing (2% dodge, 2% movespeed). This one is called Elusiveness and gives 5% movespeed when stealthed. You can see quickness further down on my spellbook.

You can look it up by the spell id on wowhead to find it: http://www.wowhead.com/spell=21009/elusiveness But if you search for elusiveness, it only shows the outlaw talent. It isn't mentioned on the NE race page either.

Had a gnome in Vanilla. That thing always had LoS issues because of it's height. Could barely see over small hills. It was a real challenge in raids. Still got that toon "Ortyshay".

Here is a little diddy written just for gnomes!

Gnomes always been best!
Portable Bronze Mortar is so handy now, before you had to stand still to throw it(still insta) but now you can run while you throw it just like heavy dynamite.
Discombobulator Ray is a fun toy, makes em look fugly before they die
Goblin Jumper Cables, only got like 33% on a successful ress, and when its a success you get electric shocked and dmgd by 50or so hp, pretty fun effect .

Having the benificial effects of ''Escape Artist'' is actually good for duelling/BG's since it i think does not share CD's with HMD.

No, DexaQT, you are right that EA does not share CD's with HMD. And with only a 1 minute CD, it's great. I didn't think it would be all that useful at first, but I have found that it has saved my life a lot. And as a Warrior, mobility is an extremely important factor in PvP, so I'm glad I chose a Gnome. I just hate when people punt me while I'm hanging out in GS. :/

Yeah, i'm going Gnome on my 10 rogue aswell because the mobility is insane, although i would like restealth since 7.1 gives us Cheap Shot.

Well, a lot of people would argue that Night Elves are hands down the best choice for rogues because of Shadowmeld, and I suppose I can see that logic. I guess it all just comes down to personal preference and play style. I can't speak much for Rogues, but I know that I've found Escape Artist to be far more useful than Shadowmeld for Warriors. I've considered trying a Worgen, though I'm not sure how much more of a mobility advantage their racial ability would really provide. I've never played one so I would have to test it out. Same goes for Goblins.

if the cheapshot thing makes it to for low level rogues

human will be master race again cos of 3 min trinket

Thats not to say gnome is bad, they're like top tier too but i dont see how 1% haste or the root break can help when u die in a stun XD XD XD : ) ;)

anyways for scrub bgs u can rape shitters even as a dogshit race like draenei
