PTR Gems to consider if the Socketed greens stay through to live.

Level One-Derful
The user @Ferender (in Winterly's thread for Shadowlands Beta) showed that BoE items that follow Legion loot rules can proc having a socket (as well as more secondary stats). @Winterly showed already that you can get greens from any mob scaled down to level 10, and all the leveling legion zones scale to 10. This means that we should theoretically be able to farm socketed items for our level one twinks. Also, the item level requirements of certain gems seems to have been removed.

As stats are being scaled really low on gear in Shadowlands, having sockets available to us might be one of our main sources of stats, as the scaling from gems on beta appears to be actually pretty good. There's not a whole lot of info on new Shadowlands gems, and the ones that are out seem to scale worse than BFA gems. Here are the best ones I found.

------------------
EDIT: THIS INFORMATION IS MOSTLY OUT OF DATE. SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST AND READ THE EDIT

These are the best Primary Stat gems from BFA:
https://shadowlands.wowhead.com/item=168637/leviathans-eye-of-agility
https://shadowlands.wowhead.com/item=168636/leviathans-eye-of-strength
https://shadowlands.wowhead.com/item=168638/leviathans-eye-of-intellect
These are the top gems from BFA, scaling to +7 on each. This is a whole hell of a lot more than what gear is going to give us (as far as what we can see on beta). They are unique-equipped, so you can't stack a bunch of 7 primary stat gems. You can, however, get the lower tier Kraken's Eye gems, which give 4 each, bringing it out to 11 of your main stat spread over 2 sockets.

Our best option for pure secondary stats from BFA are these:
https://shadowlands.wowhead.com/item=168641/quick-sand-spinel
https://shadowlands.wowhead.com/item=168639/deadly-lava-lazuli
https://shadowlands.wowhead.com/item=168642/versatile-dark-opal
These gems scale to +3 each, which isn't bad at all. Right now, the stat budget for gear on beta is 2-3 secondary stats total, so this doubles or more the secondary stat output of our gear. These will likely fill out most of our gear, assuming another gem down below in the special category is patched.

https://shadowlands.wowhead.com/item=169220/straddling-sage-agate
https://shadowlands.wowhead.com/item=153715/straddling-viridium
These gems increase movement speed, and stack with other movespeed bonuses. They are unique equipped, but there is a 5% version and a 3% version, giving you a total of +8% movespeed over two sockets.

Our best stamina option seems to be:
https://shadowlands.wowhead.com/item=127765/immaculate-stamina-taladite
Our stamina options aren't so great assuming the gems in the special category below are patched, and this appears to be the best one at +3 stamina.

Here are some special gems, which are odd enough to be something that probably gets patched.

https://shadowlands.wowhead.com/item=76613/perfect-resplendent-tiger-opal
This gem gives strength and armor, which typically wouldn't be notable. For some reason, the armor doesn't seem to scale down, giving a level one the full 80 armor assuming it isn't patched. Winterly tells me that their 27 armor on beta is a reduction of roughly 24% (a better scaling than live atm), meaning we could theoretically get to some big numbers for armor with this gem.

https://shadowlands.wowhead.com/item=40010/sparkling-sky-sapphire
This item has a bugged description on wowhead. I don't know if this is something that is ingame too, but it seems stuck at +322 versatility. Almost guarenteed to be patched.

https://shadowlands.wowhead.com/item=49110/nightmare-tear
This gem doesn't appear to scale down from +4 all stats, which would make it a very solid contender and one of our best stamina options. It is made from jewelcrafting, which puts it higher in likelihood to work for us than the following gems.

https://shadowlands.wowhead.com/item=30556/glinting-tanzanite
https://shadowlands.wowhead.com/item=30551/reckless-fire-opal
https://shadowlands.wowhead.com/item=30608/radiant-chrysoprase
A random amount of the many different kinds of Tanzanite, Fire Opal, and Chrysoprase gems from burning crusade Heroic dungeons appear to not scale down even when linked ingame, giving some very powerful combinations of 4-5 primary and secondary stats. These are all BOP from instances 1s cant enter, but since they are being put on BOEs there might be a way to trade bug them.

https://shadowlands.wowhead.com/item=32634/shifting-amethyst
https://shadowlands.wowhead.com/item=32635/timeless-amethyst
https://shadowlands.wowhead.com/item=32636/purified-amethyst
https://shadowlands.wowhead.com/item=32638/reckless-citrine
https://shadowlands.wowhead.com/item=32639/jagged-mossjewel
All but one of the gems sold by the Aether Tech Adept in the Blade's Edge Mountains do not appear to scale, even when linked ingame. He can be summoned during an event that still works on live, and bought with apexis crystals that are farmable still by clicking on the apexis nodes, even at level one. The stats on these are similar to the BC heroic gems.

https://shadowlands.wowhead.com/item=28361/delicate-blood-garnet
https://shadowlands.wowhead.com/item=27812/brilliant-blood-garnet
https://shadowlands.wowhead.com/item=27809/jagged-deep-peridot
There are other gems sold by BC vendors such as these that don't seem to scale. It is unknown how many of them are actually going to be obtainable by level ones, but timewalking events may make it possible, assuming the scaling isn't patched.

------------------

Just about everything else scaled down to one, whether they were one stat or two, or less than something mentioned above. Most of the really cool effects with good scaling were meta gems, and unfortunately you can't put meta gems in prismatic sockets.

I am hoping the greens with sockets makes it to live, because even if it forces me to farm mobs endlessly until I get socketed titanforged greens with leech for every single slot on my body, it's better than having no way to increase power at all. I did my best to find every gem that might be helpful to us, but I may have missed some given how many there are. If you find one, please post it here!

EDIT: Looks like a lot of these gems have hidden Ilvl requirements and don't scale as low as wowhead shows. The best scaling gems currently working on PTR for low levels are the Honor mark "ornate" gems.

https://shadowlands.wowhead.com/item=28363/deadly-ornate-topaz
https://shadowlands.wowhead.com/item=28123/potent-ornate-topaz
https://shadowlands.wowhead.com/item=28362/delicate-ornate-ruby
https://shadowlands.wowhead.com/item=28118/brilliant-ornate-ruby
https://shadowlands.wowhead.com/item=28119/smooth-ornate-dawnstone

Apparently, the new shadowlands ones are great too, but likely will be fixed.

From Legion mobs on my 1 on Beta, still Beta though, but we can have hope right.

sl beta 10.png

So, the bfa gems require ilvl 50, the WoD one you linked requires ilvl 44, The MoP tiger opal is ilvl 38. The sky sapphire is +2 vers, I can try to check the last few vendor gems you linked but i'd have to look up the event and everything
Fuck man, that sucks. I was hoping since it didn't say anything on the gem they wouldn't need anything. Welp, hopes ruined!

The new shadowland gems have no ilvl requirement though and they give +16 stat for the blue gems and +12 for the greens
At level one? Holy crap, can you post some screenies? Just goes to show how much I need beta because Wowhead is useless for being helpful at testing D:

Guys remember back in BFA Beta / Pré patch PTR, we we're all hyped about the value of the BFA enchant on ring for exemple, and then it was hotfix and the value was scale to +1.

So the SL gems would be probably be the same

If these boes proc for example speed or leech, how much speed/leech does that give? 1, 2? And how much is that in % on a level 1?
I feel like a level one with a lot of leech would be fun for pve stuff.

Usually it's about 2-3% per item with tertiary stats. However, those stats inflate very quickly, so you'd get a total of 4% on two items and about 5% on three (just an example).

Overall, there are many potentially bugged gems and the highest I saw was some PvP Epic ones sold in the Halls of Champions.

During Korrak's Revenge I was farming some very specific TBC dungeons gems for my mage: https://www.wowhead.com/item=30600/purified-tanzanite and https://www.wowhead.com/item=30547/reckless-fire-opal, because they didn't appear to scale down to lvl 60 and would give stats as a lvl 70 item.

Despite many TBC H Dungeons gems having the same name, some of them have different IDs and are different items (for example, https://www.wowhead.com/item=30603/purified-tanzanite).

If it ever becomes available for lower levels, https://www.wowhead.com/item=153716/jewelhammers-focus would be a cool item to have as it allows you to switch gems e/o destroying them (specially good for handling the epic ones).

What about the 5 primary stat 5 crit pvp gems? On the ptr they cost 1 medallion and at level 10 give 5 primary 5 crit

I havent checked to see if the legion boes can scale to 1 or socket etc since like the first week ptr came out haha. I will before prepatch though.
I believe that pieces with 3 gem slots will trump legion gear ( crafted boes scaled down to level 15) especially slots like belt if we can use the extra gem slot belt buckles, things like that. Artifact weapons are definitely king, and the legion dungeon trinkets are looking solid too. Im overall hyped for vets more so than endgame now, lol.
