F2P Vet: Adventure Mode unlocks

I had an old account but Blizzard did not give me "Vet" status, because I haven't subbed for a full month since 2017, which is also the minimum requirement to purchase wow tokens with gold. So I decided to sub for the last ~18 or so days of Legion Remix, and managed to accomplish much (obtained 35 hidden weapons & all 12 class mounts).

Since I had 12 more days of retail left in, I decided to prioritize unlocking Dragonflight Adventure Mode with my remaining days left. Here are my findings:

  • Dragonflight
    • As of path 12.0, in order to unlock Dragonflight Adventure Mode, you need complete the main quest lines in those zones with a lvl 70+ character:
      • The Waking shores (10-70)
      • Ohn'Anran Plains (20-70)
      • The Azure Span (30-70)
      • Thaldraszus (40-70)
      • The Forbidden Reach (70)
      • Zaralek Cavern (70)
      • The Emerald Dream (70)
    • This is in contrast with earlier in Dragonflight expansion, where finishing Thaldraszus is enough to unlock Adventure mode. Now you need to complete the main quest chain up to Siblings Until the End
    • After all this is done, your zones will look like this:
      • The Waking shores (10-70)
      • Ohn'Anran Plains (10-70)
      • The Azure Span (10-70)
      • Thaldraszus (10-70)
      • The Forbidden Reach (70)
      • Zaralek Cavern (10-80)
      • The Emerald Dream (10-80)
    • F2P toons can now see world quests in Zaralek Cavern and Emerald Dream, however apparently Blizzard broke something with patch 11.2.7 and alts (even level 80) cannot obtain the starter quests for those 2 zones. Hopefully Blizz will fix this one day, but obviously this is not high on their piroity list right now
  • TWW
    • Once I found out Dornogal is already accessible (I thought it would happen after Midnight launch), I immediately set out to to unlock TWW Adventure Mode immediately. I decided to use my freshly leveled Remix druid w/ his ilvl 102 gear this time around. Instant flying mount and cloak is really useful for speeding things along.
    • The top comment in that link is still accurate as of today. You only need to clear the first 4 zones to unlock it.
      • Isle of Dorn (70-73)
      • The Ringing Deeps (73-75)
      • Hallowfall (75-78)
      • Azj-Kahet (78-80)
    • After unlock the zones looked like this:
      • Isle of Dorn (70-80)
      • The Ringing Deeps (70-80)
      • Hallowfall (70-80)
      • Azj-Kahet (70-80)
      • Undermine (80)
      • K'aresh (80)
    • I did this in a single sitting, roughly 10-12 hours or so. I sat around for lore & cut scenes so it slowed me down. I am sure if you skipped all scenes and lore, you can probably cut that process down to 8, perhaps 6 hours.
    • I believe the first 4 zones will become (10-80) after TWW becomes part of Chromie time.
    • I am contemplating finishing up Undermine & K'aresh with my remaining time. Perhaps questing will unlock travel options to alts (like Argus portals)
  • Midnight
    • I see they have this already in the game Midnight Adventure Mode. Looks like this will be standard for all future expansions
  • Shadowlands
    • Shadowlands does not have a true Adventure mode, but instead have this Threads of Fate campaign skip
    • Apparently it unlocks world quests but will mess up your dungeon drops?
    • Someone fill me in on this. I don't have this unlocked on my account yet
  • BfA
    • BfA does not have a real adventure mode either
    • I hear you get war campaigns & Nazjatar is prerequisite to unlock Mechagon for your alts (an primitive version of adventure mode?)
    • Someone fill me in on this. I don't have this unlocked on my account yet
  • Legion
I also updated my F2P spreadsheet. There wil be another update once TWW is part of Chromie's rotation

Thanks for all your work and sharing!

I managed to finish Undermine campaign on my Lemix druid. Very fun and interesting zone. Hopefully F2P will gain access to it in the future.

But now I don't see the quest giver that starts the K'aresh campaign, how annoying. Instead I see it on my other Lemix characters.
Now I need to pick another class to speedrun K'aresh quests quickly. Would Nelf Rogue be a good choice with double vanish?

Lord have mercy... is the intention to influence players to NOT go back & complete the old campaigns;
for fear of dying of boredom while slogging through literally every quest in every craptastic WoW-imposter xPacs?!

I was about to re-sub one of my acct's to knock out some of these, but now...?!
That feels like a bit too much Dragonfetish misery for me...

Any intel on weather the 'Catch-up' mode completes the achive, or must one also go whole-hog through all of TWW?

With the free game-time, besides accidentally leveling a character to 21 :p

I used a higher level veteran character to unlock the Void Elf Demon Hunter spec, than paid to switch faction my Level 20 Blood Elf with enchants and gear to Void Elf. But due to a bug, I leveled to 21 when I went to Dragon Isles to craft a few DF enchants - normal this is grayed out as in no experience because I was already in gray skills but for some reason this granted me lots of experience to ping just over 21. I tired a GM ticket but was unsuccessful.

+ + + +

When I got TWW expansion on a Black Friday sale last year I used the 30 days game-time to do as much as possible. I was sure to complete the Earthen allied race quest chain with my veteran higher level character as well as get up to Undermine in case that was adventure mode. With the pre-release patch, my linked Starter Account was able to make Earthen but I had made a <= level 20 Earthen after unlocking them as mentioned. So this Earthen had the three slot necklace and some enchants.

The key with the Earthen is that can be Alliance or Horde but have access to Dornogal via the main city hub portal <= level 20 (for now - as when in Twilight Highlands the portal to Dornogal requires level 68). So I made my hearthstone Dornogal inn, in case the city portal is fixed.

Checking Adventure Mode as Willy Virus suggested, I saw that the Azj-Kahet mobs were level 70.

The funny thing is with the pre-release patch I was able to access the housing area and grab the lumberjack item, and the lumber in Azj-Kahet was loot-able but the chests where not yet. Not able to grab a house due to not having Midnight but seems like accidentally granted to housing area.

Devs are lazy. They will do the bare minimum work necessary.

Case in point: I noticed Blizzard nuked this lore important quest chain Dawn of the Infinite on the last day of free weekend. Fortunately someone uploaded a quick run-through 2 years ago to youtube: WoW ~ Dawn of the Infinite Questline

The reason why? Because devs didn't want to create new a story mode scenario for this dungeon. Nor did they want to add a new heroic dungeon to the follower dungeon list. Bascially if some content is not current, they feel perfectly fine breaking things left and right.

Only way old stuff gets fixed is if the expansion receives Remix treatment.

Any intel on weather the 'Catch-up' mode completes the achive, or must one also go whole-hog through all of TWW?
I have no clue. I read about people complaining about the recap, so decided to do the full run-through, since I like lore anyways
