EU+US F2p BG's Still Active in 2017?

I just got my Paladin to level 20, and the queue times for Warsong Gulch have been 20-40 min... Which seems too BAD to be true. Is it even worthwhile to try and continue gearing my f2p level 20 twink?
One more question, is there any way to get additional weapon illusions besides the ones I see available right now such as beastslayer, crusader, etc? I would love to have a two-handed axe with a bright glow!

Hey!
Queues are short during the weekends and peak hours, longer during the night and mornings.

As for illusions, I think there was one but for rogues only, nothing more apart from that, sorry

but, how long is short? BG's were fun but Im afraid I wont be twinking if they are 40 minutes apart
