Classic Launches summer 2019 (Official)

Highly doubt they will develop a separate payment model for Classic Servers. Most likely just combined subscription for all servers. Wonder if there are plans to make Official Blizzard TBC & WotLK servers.
TBC I would say I'm near positive, depending the success and reaction of Classic, would likely happen down the line. Mostly due to the fact that TBC is heralded so much, and arguably even more beloved than Classic.

If they do one for WoTLK, I'm not sure. Then you kind of have "Well what about ____"? and you'll want to see a expansion locked server for each expansion, and it'd probably get out of hand.

I would say WotLk could be the cut-off, as that was a loved expansion as well. Besides; Cataclysm was the most severe Expansion in terms of cutting old content, which leads me to an opinion that WotLK could be the best cut-off.

i can guarantee there ar no such plans
B. doesnt expect classic servers to be benefitial - its just a reverence gesture to fans

How can you guarantee it?

You can't guarantee that.

Just like Blizz said for 12 years they would never do a classic server.

@Crystalpall had talked about Old School RuneScape's new contents somewhere. If Classic WoW gets new content like it, I'd gladly accept their payment method. But if they'll keep Classic as vanilla as possible, subs. must be separated and less than retail wow in my opinion.

I strongly believe, that if Classic gets released as is and then left and not developed in any way, it's pointless in the long run.

That's how the majority of people whom I have talked to want it, myself included.

After all, besides nerfs/buffs, many twink brackets are essentially (Besides some pets and mounts) that way, no? It's not like twink brackets are just rolling out new content left and right. Some, like you and I, enjoy the PVE aspect. But most just want to do the PVP.

i said there are no such plans(yet), not like this will never happen for next 12 years(lmao)
i'd love to see TBC content somewhere else but on shitty private servers, but this is how big game-dev industry(cinema too btw) works nowdays: unless classic wow will bring em billions, B. management will consider it as a decoy, holding some amount of players from quitting and paying attention to actual wow content problems.

Ahh. Fair enough.

Yeah, I don't expect to see it for at least another 5 years. :p

But hey, if it happens, be glad, right? Because I'm so stoked for Classic.

I hope they offer a sub for classic only. I have zero interest in playing whatever barf bowl is offered on live.

I would at some point like to have TBC and WOTLK servers but I won't hold my breath for that. Thy would also cause a fracturing of the community and are probably a bad idea.

I thought for sure 2020, or 2021. They weren't giving any updates or hints to where they were at with it for quite some time. I'm tentatively happy for a '19 release, although playing the demo, I could tell a lot needed to be fixed and adjusted. I'd like to see other zones as well, perhaps even a raid to really get a grasp on things.

I've been following all the information from my boys Esfand, Staysafe, and Tips during Blizzcon. It seems the developers are wanting to do what's right, and what should be a very classic experience. A few points of contention are obvious though, namely what Blizz wants in terms of sharding and what we want. Personally, I believe a fucking mass of people and having to sit there and wait for mob respawns was a part of classic. Yeah it's fucking inconvenient and annoying, but it allowed time for social interaction. So I'm against sharding.

I honestly cannot wait to see where people end up quitting. A lot of people assume it will be in the 15-20 range. I'm thinking people will drop around 40-50. That grind was pretty extensive.

And please put moonwalking in.

I don't care much about the authenticity of waiting in a line of 50 people to kill a plainstrider or to feed a wolf but sharding will kill classic long term, not for us twinks but for the endgame players and specifically the world pvp players, they will throw a real Taren mill versus south shore battle and no one will come, well everyone would come but they would all be on different shards!

That's the danger there and why everyone should be vocal about NO SHARDING.

It will be a hell of a lot better to twink on active high pop realms than to try and do it on dead servers.

As to where people drop out, on live servers before I quit I was able to hit level 39 in just a hair over an hour, and I was not really trying, I think a large number of people on classic will drop before level 15 with a lot more throwing in the towel somewhere around 50-55

@LecolaEU I wouldn't worry about if the subs are actually split or not. If you only play Classic their metrics will show it and they will allocate the revenue on their internal charts correctly. If you play both they will probably sensibly split the revenue up by % of play time or something else. Bean counting companies usually know how to count beans at least :)

@Symandria Buy2play and no sub. was the first method which I suggested on this forum. Retail players'd probably hate this idea because they think they've already bought this product for years ago. Separated sub. is also a bad idea for them. This'll make BFA players and Activision Blizzard happy, not players like me.

imagine wow tokens on classic is just a matter of time.
I'm not really sure if this is a good or bad thing for Classic wow.

social interaction.
Totally agree with you. LFR and sharding killed WoW community.

I quit on my first toon (pserver) at 30 taking something like 30 or 40 hours, but later I came back and leveled two chars (mage and lock) to 60, taking about 7 days /played each.

But yeah, classic will be a revival for the twinking community for sure. I wonder if it will ever get to a point where classic servers become prime twinking servers after all the hype followers get burnt out.

I agree on the 40-50, that was my least favorite part. I enjoyed 50-60, even though it took a good while. I just enjoyed those zones the most.

I agree on what you said, and I think it will end up on release very much just like Classic. Which, I think is the best way to do it.

They've said that would never be in it a few times.

Uh as stated so far tokens are 100% in classic, "WTB enough gold for token on live, paying x gold on classic"
