Since the last poll was pretty unanimous, no surprise there :D

I want some more input. The ONE thing I'm thinking about gating is HKs. Not a shitload, but enough to say, "I've tried this out and it works well in bgs or arena."

If they're a PvE Hero I will add them no questions asked.

Let it rip, I'm gunna go watch some more of The Witcher. Keep it civil.

Edit: this isn't as strict of an option as the other poll and people seem to be pretty neutral on this idea and I'm probably creating a problem that doesn't really exist. If it's close I'm probably going to side with the 'no gate' side anyways just because it's not how the armory was before.

Cheers! Hope everyone's having a good holiday!

Again, all you are doing is catering to the old ass people that have been here forever and you are just going to turn it into a 10k HK... GF armory hall of fame that is worthless to 99% of the other people that come here. Those are the people that are going to vote to keep things they way they are.

This already smells like jalapeno chili farts.

Just use common sense if somebody wants to be in the armory, and then also just include the guide links right under the class armory as well... then just delete people/guides ASAP when they don't update after a patch (if necessary). Because this is not a website and its a forum there are so many guides that just disappear into oblivion 2 seconds after they are posted.

Should a Ret paladin that has all Green Aurora Gear even with slots be in the Armory... no... because we already know that 3 piece gem stuff is better... again, common sense. If a guide wants to go over all of the "fun builds" you can do with nutty gear/gemming/wierdo weapons/ and also GF items that new players MIGHT see... then that is the place for that. Should you not include somebody because they are wearing the Electocutioner's Lagnut? No, we also know that a versatility ring with a slot is like 2 million gold... most people are not going to fuck with that. Common sense.

You/whoever is in charge around here just needs to decide if the forum is to let old players have some clout or if its for getting more people into twinking... and those choices are in conflict. I don't think any of you are on the same page about that. On that note I promise you that showing people a bunch of gear they cannot obtain is not going to get new people into twinking... that again, is just common fucking sense.

EDIT: probably too many words and will confuse people, I forgot that forum communication has degraded into various memes so the troglodytes can contribute.

I wouldn't mind either way tbh but I'd prefer not just because HK's are only situationally a good indicator on how the twink is or would be performing. I wouldn't want to exclude someone who has a sub and is geared to the teeth but hasn't been bging much or an altoholic with 15 twinks/PvE Hero etc.

I mean, if I was the gatekeeper (and I'm glad I'm not because that's a hell of a task to keep track of!) IMO there would just need to be some clear effort put in to the toon being added.

For example, I think Hazeleyes - Character (worldofwarcraft.com) would be a good fit for the list, whereas my meme warrior Twooxy - Character (worldofwarcraft.com) is just that...a meme.

Whatever is decided still won't make everyone happy, but I appreciate you trying to iron everything out before launch. Excited to see what the community comes up with!

Merry christmas!

100% not any criticism in any way or me taking sides just wanted to throw in my polite input.

My ideal amory, in my simple opinion, would have categories for each class. Categories would look like: GF/ Ultimate items that have been able to get > best money can buy / vet items > F2P builds that are possible with today's drops.
I love seeing how much I compare to other F2P accounts and also how much I am missing not having the socket i28 items. And it's super interesting seeing what having i30+ items can do for a build.

I feel most people with over ten k wont mind
But if you check out alot of folks,
They aren't hitting those numbers.
Because they are alts of alts.
Proud to say i had 97k on a rogue in 19's about 15 years ago,
So am not fussy,
But i think it's abit gatekeeper mode to be fair.

Gatekeeping and catering to old guars won't bring anything good. People make alts of alts with full gear that will be used down the road, they are a perfectly good example of characters/gear new members can look up to, none of this makes any sense logically.
A - from me

No, I dont know if this is controversial but I think it should be gated by gear.

I don't see an HK gate solving any issues. If I have an old twink with 10K HKs and then after a few years I return to gear it up in a clown suit, we're back to JadeFire's olfactory expertise. Though perhaps Cig meant an HK gate in addition to gear, and if that's the case, I think it's enough to ask that people be fully gemmed and enchanted. Even missing sockets wouldn't bother me, since people can look at gear and figure out what's missing, and (back to our pride) most twinks won't ask to be put in the Armory until they are indeed complete.

The original issue was grandfathered gear, and that sounds like a solved problem at this point. I don't recall much of an issue with armories containing excessively bogus gear.

There was alot of characters lacking gems or even pure upgrade pieces not bad toons but nothing I would ever considering gearing advice, even if most of them were done some people just linked their character even if it was lacking alot of gear.

And I still back the Lofi system for solving the GFd items thing.

My ideal amory, in my simple opinion, would have categories for each class.

Like Sil said, I think it would be best when someone submits a char to format it like: name(f2p/vet/gf). The only thing i wouldn't like is for the armory to be dominated by chars with gf'ed gear. Also limit submissions to max 2-3 chars.

Somehow the community so far seems pretty cut and even.
The HK gate would be in ADDITION to the gf twinks tag being added... Idk how that got lost in translation lol.

And like I said in the main post, this was just an idea because someone in the last poll mentioned that two of their chars on the armory had 0 HKs.

Sure that dude could be perfectly statted and geared to the teeth. And it would be an obvious no brainer to add them.

I guess I was referring more to those questionable stats, for example my warrior with verse+haste gems. It was still a fun build, obviously carried by crusader(the non fucked up healing one) but it still "worked" just not optimal.

This was just an idea and honestly the community seems very split. Poll will close tonight, if it's really close I'll probably go with NO gate anyways, I'm really just tossing shit at the wall and seeing if it sticks with this poll

I'm most likely going to be asking/confirming account status as well. (This suggestion seems to be pretty well agreed upon already)

I do like to throw corn mash down into the pig pen to get all the kids worked up, it's a bad habit that is just the purpose of the forums... but, honestly I don't care if there are blinking stars and animated emotes around some people's names denoting their coolness, I get it that is the wierdo/childish culture here.

It just seems like we are worrying about nonsense. Focus more on guides that matter, and just put a disclaimer at the top of the armory for new players... "This area is meaningless as an informational resource"... will be fine.

I have 20k HKs, still voted no, there are tons of well geared ppl, well worthy of being shown to this community as examples of equipped lvl 20 twinks. Wether you're a F2P, a Vet, or have a subscription to grab these ilvl 28 greens. Has nothing to do with how many poor sobs you've aimshotted down in bg.

The only real issue with armory is the fact that it shows the character when he last logged off. So the outfit, the spec can be inappropriate.

If we're going with the "people like to be included because it makes them feel like they're part of the community" thing, then no gating

That said, I think you gotta at least be willing to tell people they need gems and enchants. Maybe make an allowance for the occasional missing socket ring or something

But this late in the xpac I think it's fair to have an expectation that inclusion in the armory means a toon that can at least be called "bis-ish"

I don't think gating on Hks is needed, Have everyone indicate account status and if you have grandfathered gear beside their armory link. (Vet/GF) (F2P) (Vet), (F2P/GF) ect.
I also want to say thanks to Cig, I may not have agreed with the initial purge but I respect the initative and ability to move forward and get past this.

Gate by gear, not HKs. Some people just wargame, PvE, or what have you (aka have low HKs.)

Generally, I don't think an armory thread needs to be gated at all. However, since the vet armory thread in Shadowlands has received an unprecedented amount of submissions, I think it's necessary to decline some toons that have horrendous gear and are all around bad examples of how to properly gear a twink.

When I say this, I don't mean people trying out a funny build like spell-hance or whatever, those are fine; I mean the people who are using socketless ilvl 28 legs and missing half of their enchants and shit... the list is already more than sufficiently long without those.
