Do you consider toast with jelly spread on it one?
A hotdog is a single piece of bread, with a topping. Which is by most accounts in culinary, considered an open faced sandwich.
So yes, by most regards..it would be.
Well it's sandwiched between two pieces of bread (it's kind of almost two pieces)

Yes a hotdog is a sandwich.
Corndog, however is not a sandwich. It's more of a meat popsicle.
While a hotdog is a sandwich to me I would NEVER think of a hotdog when someone says "imma get me a sandwich"
