Adsense Approval

It's been a journey, but it's the staff members' great pleasure to announce that XPOff was approved for Adsense a little while back. We have been working diligently over the weekend to set up and test some ads, and because this was outlined as one of the more important reasons we wanted to make the switch to a new website, we felt like the public should be notified of our progress.

Some of you might have already noticed the ad banner at the bottom of the page. This one is set up similarly to the old one on TI, and in conjunction with another one below the features, will stand for the majority of the ads we plan on serving on the front page.

We all dislike advertisement, especially when it's crammed into our faces, but it is our hope that you at least consider whitelisting us from potential Adblock services, as the ad revenue will help us fund the hosting of the website as well as future events. For those who opt out of the advertising, we have instead made plans to introduce our own local ads, which will serve information directly related to the website and community. Right now, it's limited to an Underbelly ad, but we will make sure to include others in the future once they have been created.

This transition also marks a shift in our priorities for the website. We want to focus more on quality content moving forward, and members who contribute to the community in a worthwhile manner will be rewarded appropriately.

Hopefully this is all something the community can get behind. We all realize the downsides of serving ads, but we hope that you can all see and focus on the many upsides instead. Absolutely nothing is set in stone when it comes to this ongoing process, and we will make changes whenever it's deemed necessary to better serve the community. We'll be conducting some test runs moving into the foreseeable future, and any feedback you might have regarding ad placements and/or content should either be posted in this thread or in the feedback forum, where we promise to listen to everyone.

Sincerely,
XPOff

Anyone who would like to create some local ads, artwork for the TC, GG19, streams, or pretty much any other community asset you can think of you should whip something up and send it our way, if we like it we will use it!

We rock! ;)

Seriously people, this! The ads are not intrusive at all, it's a very small gesture that benefits the entire community. Do it!

Awesome that we're already getting to this point. I'll see what I can scrape up for add art when I get a chance.

It`s not (only) about the intrusiveness, but rather Google`s (lack of) privacy policy which is definitely the worse part of it.
Again, are we getting any significant revenue out of those ads? Because if not it seems like a lot of hassle for a minimum gain
