20 F2P in Shadowlands

World of Warcraft already updated their Twitter bio and banner to Shadowlands theme, but included a little tidbit in their bio about being able to play the first twenty levels for free.

Hopefully this is confirmation the F2P level cap is not being changed in Shadowlands. Still not 100%, but I'm leaning towards them not changing it now more than ever.

Fingers crossed - best news yet about any SL twinking. 10s looks like it would just be straight terrible. Hopefully they will fix/remove Black gear/gem gear/ overpowerd engineering/HoA and Artifact weapons right away and we won't have a snooze fest for twinking for the foreseeable future.

That stuff seems cool, but it just ruins twinking, always best when its as close to even as possible.

That was the same bio they had in their Instagram right?

Technically it is FTP now for the first 20 levels.

I’m still not sure it’s truly representative of their plan (if they have one)

That's already fixed on the ptr/beta. The container Item requires lvl 50 to open now.

It would make sense to raise the bar to 20. Their biggest Competition is "final Fantasy xiv" (1 million subscribers worldwide <-> wow has 2 million subscribers). max lvl over there is 80 and their free to play option goes up to lvl 35. So it would make sense to let us play up to level 20. Also, that new "new player" chatchannel is available up to level 20. So, it would make sense to "raise the" f2p limit.... If not I give ffxiv a try! I don't want to play gimped chars!

Well that is good about the black gear. Gem gear at least lets F2P not completely suck, that is a huge factor in having more people involved in the bracket than just a handful of vets. Traditionally Blizzard has been pretty good about killing the engineering stuff quickly so again... fingers crossed.
 
... didn't we went over this in hashbrown's thread a couple days or weeks ago and agreed that's possibly fake due to intern(s) just slapped that part on the end then called it a day?

Sorry, yeah it is the same thing.

It's worded in Blizzard sell stuff lingo.

You would read this in english: Statement 1: game is [currently] free to play for 20 levels (which is true in BFA)... next Statement 2: Prepatch is coming out.

They have worded things like this before especially when it comes to reputation sales... 100% reputation! when really its just a bonus to grinding and not instant rep.

don't worry about it.

although, in the same thread it's been discussed about level 20 being the vet cap and 10 was the ftp cap. so ya can re-cross those fingers. ;)

can they give them to their level 20s now tho and open them and then have the item unfairly scale when they get leveled scaled? I have not played in a while not sure how opening them right now works.
