I did this last time and it didn't work for me. So that's why I'm unsure now.

There's a way to delete the wand and use item restoration so u can keep it after completing the quest. I forget exactly how it works, been awhile. I'm sure you can find someone who does. Only matters if you want to keep the wand to transform in a furbolg whenever.
