Twink Info is not "cursed"

Mocha

Legendary
There is no "curse" on the website domain preventing it from developing further. For years this site has thrived as the only lasting information resource to twinking.

I feel as though there are many in the same boat whom have been thinking "Where's this f****** CoC already? Are there going to be moderators? Is there going to be a CoC? Will we be moving to Xen? Will this site even be up a few months from now?"

Communication has been absolutely 0 since my return this summer and in my attempts to communicate with the TI staff back when I was the most veteran staff member. I trust a similar lack of communication and direction is still present amongst the TI staff. We haven't received any signs of progress to my knowledge.

This site needs direction. It needs to be shown a future. The chapter has been closed without another one being reopened. The community deserves communication or at least signs of progress being made. It's been MONTHS without a CoC. There is no CoC yet as we've seen, people have been disciplined and banned recently.

The TI staff can only ward off discussion, questions, speculation off of the shoulders of the Admins for so long. It's completely fine if the Admin is mainly holding the title, keeping the site up and has another staff member more hands on with the site. Right now we have nothing of the sort. Appoint Yde or another staff member in charge of being the hands on admin if the one in charge refuses to take action. Leadership is at a 0 right now.

Another staff member needs to be in charge of taking care of this site. Shane was pretty afk, but he had also upgraded and improved the site whilst keeping it running. Other staff members handled the site directly and addressed the direction of the site, the stance on the CoC and enforcement and was constantly trying to develop the site further. It appears right now as though the staff members are not able to take charge of anything without being overruled and/or demoted.

I can only think back to earlier this summer when I was a staff member and I had made many attempts to communicate with the new admin before enforcing any CoC. I had told the staff that I was going to enforce the CoC as it's written and if anyone feels otherwise than to simply let me know and I will not take any action. After several attempts and being shown no response, I threw out a few warranted infractions and woke up the next day being asked to step down, yet remain in communication with the staff to help moderate without holding the title and provide ideas for the future of the site. That was the first, and last time I had ever heard anything from the admin.

If other staff members find themselves worried of seeing a similar occurrence that I had, I strongly urge you to do what you can to help this staff produce a stance on a CoC and help to ensure the future of the site. Don't lose your title over anything if you hold it precious to you, but this community (staff and members alike) deserve a stance on the CoC and deserve a vision for the future of this site. It's been months of waiting and not being sure what the rules are.

Why are new moderators being appointed if there's still no CoC or progress being made on one? Why are there so many staff members if they're not allowed to enforce the current CoC? Why are there so many issues right now that have never been an issue in the past? (Spam bots, no ah section, lack of direction, lack of funds etc)

I'm not looking to be harsh on anyone with this thread, I'm just trying to get acknowledgment that progress is being made and the community's concerns with the site are being addressed. It's been a complete free for all for 6 months now with no progress being shown to the community.

good thread, but i don't think at this point it will get the response we're looking for. myrm seems to have lost faith and distanced himself more and more from the community, i can't really say i've seen any involvement on his part since the announcement that there would be a new "CoC" or "twink charter of rights", whatever he decided to call it. at least this is the conclusion i've come as just another twinkinfo member. i'd like to say i have faith that this site will take a turn for the better in the near future but i've been distancing myself from it personally with the "community" dwindling down to trolls, toxic shit posters and hypocritical egotists being appointed "bracket manager" even after trying to sell their account openly on the forums... i understand there's some friendships or whatever that i'm probably oblivious to between myrm and a lot of the people i think deserve a ban but it shouldn't be that way.

It does seem to be running a mock now. People seem to feel free to say whatever they want and fear no repercussions, to the point of cursing directly at mods. Which I think is completely ridiculous.

It seems to me the mods are afraid to address these issues since they seem to be coming from more "important" members of the communities. But that can't happen. By in large the 19 community is toxic af. It just is. 20-29 has been infiltrated and, although better, nothing like how the pure F2P forum used to be.
Allybeboba had an interesting idea of moving all these non bracket related threads to the "General" or "Tavern" thread. Keep the bracket forums for actually helpful bracket information. It certainly would help new users more and it just seems to make sense.

I hope things get better. I see no issue with the current CoC. It just needs to be enforced.

I had some super long, thoughtful post typed out for this, but canceled it in favor this.

I agree with the OP. Something has to change, soon. About a month ago, several of my friends and/or guildmates were showing some interest in twinking. I directed them to Twinkinfo, thinking it'd be a great start for them. Rather than them seeing the guides, armories, and experience I had intended, all of them just saw the general attitude of the forum. I think two of them have made twinks to play in the 20 bracket, but the rest just didn't like the first view of the community they got. That's just my personal experience. I've got several twinks on my friends list that basically refuse to come on here, unless they've got something super interesting to share.

TL;DR, the whole above post is boring. Don't read it. At all. Ever.

This site has changed for the better. You are just too dumb and deluded by your PC morals to grasp it. You are in no position to educate anybody on what should be done with this site or the CoC. Get out of here you.

Report problematic content.

Trust Mods' discretion - there's a banlist w/ reasoning, and lately Mods have been more open to discussing their decisions.

Hashbrowns, you've gotta scroll by the information in the stickies before you get to the potential shit. Bump recent, relevant information if you want it seen.

I second Allybeboba's suggestion to move rando threads to the General Twinks section and slap that bracket's thread tag on the title.

Did I forget to say report problematic content?

Seems to have always happened when there isn't much about twinking left to talk about until next xpac.

It's difficult for me to speak for the whole staff but I do apologise about my own inactivity / lack of communication the past few weeks. I have my yearly exams currently ongoing, so I've been really busy. Besides checking for daily spam, any time I can spend on TI is usually on the weekends. My last exam is on monday, so hopefully I should be around more afterwards.

Last weekend I talked to Myrm and got the mod applications started due to the fact that we're kinda lacking people to moderate. Two awesome Mods recently resigned and another two told us that they'd be unable to moderate for a while (due to RL stuff). There's been quite a lot of applications and many of them seem genuinely interested in helping out the website. I'm looking forward to their arrival.

This weekend I talked to Myrm again and posted an update on the Twink Charter. We're planning to have it finalized in about a week, when the new Mods are appointed.

I do apologise we haven't been able to communicate much lately. I can't always guarantee a fix but I'm always ready to hear any complaints and try to help out.

Broken, you're awesome! Myrm is lucky to have you on board!
