Achievements.

MetalIllness

Criminally Insane
Hey there folks, some of you know me as Guanyin, my 10 monk twink, or "that twink with double slayer's bands". I am pretty actively getting achievements and so far I am pushing 3,5k personal points on the armory. I am aware that there are 10-14 twinks with more achievement points than me, and I am kindly requesting their help. Time to dwell in a past implementation of account-wide achievements has long passed, we can still show personal achievements only on both the armory and upon inspection, so a kind of competition is still very well possible, as well as e-peening to some degree, if that's what you care for. Whatever your reasons are to get achievements on a twink in this bracket, let yourself be known here. This idea is far from dead and with goldmines like the Isle of Thunder and the Timeless Isle, as well as accessible raids, just to give some obvious examples, we should be achieving more than we currently are. Let's revive this thing.

I am offering my assistance to keep a hall of fame running as well as one thread with an expansive source of information as well as plain and simple answers regarding achievements. I used to run the level 1-9 achievement hall of fame but because I am so much more active on my 10 monk now, I can as well start running something similar in this bracket. If you have any question about level 10-14 achievement hunting, feel free to ask anything, I might just be able to provide you with the info you need.

Some responses from active twinks who don't just dwell in the past but move forward with what we do have, would be appreciated.
Hopefully I motivated some people to get their share in the competition.

it says i have 6010 achievement points on my armory but which i know isnt true but i killed 2 of the 4 world bosses and have 540 cooking on my 10 warrior... prolly the best achieves i have on my 10s

My 10 Hunter Gringötts was at one time 7th for achievements and was approaching 3K when I took my last WoW break 1-1/2 years ago, you know I'm down to keep pushing it. Question though, I still can't figure out how to show the achievement "points" on Armory or 'compare achievements' in person, only the number of achievements earned. The issue with this is it is showing account wide total earned achievements and it appears I still have to look through them one at a time to see which that character has earned. Granted I just came back to WoW 10 days ago so I'm probably not doing it right.

The other issue I'm seeing is with the validity of the number of achievements for the account. If I go to my 90 Hunter (main achievement character on the account) it shows 881/2057 achievements earned under Summary. If I 'compare achievements' between my 90 and my 10 Hunter it shows as 1016/2337 vs 909/2337, but then if I jump on my 10 Rogue (had around 1900 points before account wide) it shows 909/2337 [10 Hunter] vs 911/2337 [10 Rogue]. So what I'm gleaning from this is that somehow my account and 10 Hunter have less physical achievements than my 10 Rogue which would be overall like 6th with my 10 Hunter being 5th. This is because I have raided on my 90 Hunter/Druid/DK/Pally quite a bit since TBC through now (less emphasis on the now part) and all have maxed professions.

Account shows: 881/2057
90 Hunter shows: 1016/2337 on comparison
10 Rogue shows: 911/2337 on comparison
10 Hunter shows: 909/2337 on comparison

These numbers are totally screwed. For one, there is now way in hell that my 10 Rogue has more total achievements than my 10 Hunter. And there is also no way in hell my 90 Hunter only has 107 total achievements more than my 10 Hunter, it should be volumes more as he alone was nearly 9K points vs my 10 Hunter at ~2800 points when I left in Cata. And what's with the personal screen showing 2057 total achievements vs the comparison screen showing 2337 total achievements? Like I said I'm probably reading it wrong since the account wide points thing is new to me.

This should help.

When you only show personal achievements, do keep in mind that any achievements that are flagged as account-wide, for example almost every pet battle achievement, will not show as completed. So it's not as it used to be before shared achievements, but it's a viable way to track your personal count in a reasonable way.

Thank you Metallillness, that worked, at least now I know there is an option. The problem is just like you say, it still doesn't show the true value since the account wide flagged ones are lowering the number some. An example is my 10 Hunter shows 2185 points now in Armory but I can say for a fact he was closer to 2800 when I left. Even my signature has him at 2455 (pulled directly from Armory back then) and I didn't update that any time close to when I took my last break. But, something is better than nothing and I'll take it. Achievements were what kept me going on my 10's during cata, and after Blizz kept fucking us over again and again. Granted now that enchants/embossments all scale now I'm having to work on them all over again which brings new life into them, so happy days.

EDIT: Alright since you showed me how to click for character only I got exited and started working on some more and that's when the problems started. MANY achievements that I absolutely have on my 10 Hunter are not showing as valid. When I "track" the achievement and hover over the name of it it says completed, but on the achievement page when I hover over it it says not completed. So I see us trying to bring this back being tricky at best but I hope it works and folks get re-interested in it.

Which achievements are you refering to, DeLindsay?
@ Crystalpall, I intend to get a list going based on what info I get in this thread. It makes maintaining such a list much more possible as I don't intend to spend hours a day on it.

I've been going over my achievement list since you showed me that option and It's not validating the points for so many it's kinda irritating me. Some I can even prove like Coin Master since I have the Titanium Seal of Dalaran in my bags on Gringötts and all of the Explorer achievements as I also have Tabard of the Explorer in my bags. Now when you click on the achievement on battle.net and it shows the drop down of the required steps to complete it those DO show as fully completed but the meta achievement is not lit up nor do the points reflect on my character. Here's the list as best I can figure out:

General > "Stable Master"

Quests > Northrend > "Mine Sweeper"
Quests > Cataclysm > "Have... Have We Met?" (was a serious pain due to phasing issues)

Exploration > all 7 of the meta achievements
Exploration > Outlands > "Bloody Rare"
Exploration > Cataclysm > "From Hell's Heart I Stab at Thee" & "Stood in the Fire"

Professions > Cooking > "A Bunch of Lunch"
Professions > Fishing > "Mr. Pinchy's Magical Crawdad Box" & "Gone Fishin'" & "I Smell A Giant Rat" & "The Coin Master"

World Events > Darkmoon Faire > "Faire Favors" (really pisses me off after the time it took to redo professions for that one)

That happens because those achievements are account bound. They are earned by your acc, not by a single char. Thats why you wont see them in the armory, if you have the char-only tick. The acc bound achis have blue bar on top, instead of the default one.

This, but this counts for everyone who only shows personal achievements on their armory, personally I find it a minor hindrance, there is so much to do besides those account-wide achievements that I personally don't think it matters too much. I sure wouldn't let such a change dictate to me how I should play WoW, nor should anyone.

'From Hell's Heart I Stab At Thee" is an achievement I can do right now and see if it checks for me.

There in lies the problem I have with the new account wide system. I personally on my 10 Hunter got those achievements. Some took a VERY long time with a ton of patience to get. Also every single one of those I got before the account wide achievement change and they were reflected on my personal battle.net (armory) back then too, but now they don't.

Now going along with the "Account bound achievements are in blue" theme I still have some issues. The ones I'm listing below are NOT in Blue, I know for a fact I had on Gringötts before the account wide change, and they still aren't showing valid on his armory link.

Quests > Northrend > "Minesweeper"
Quests > Cataclysm > "Have... Have We Met?"

Exploration > Cataclysm > "From Hell's Heart I Stab at Thee" & "Stood in the Fire"

Professions > Fishing > "Mr. Pinchy's Magical Crawdad Box" & "I Smell a Giant Rat"

This I doubt, Mr Pinchy has a level requirement.
Although I didn't read every single page the oldest comment I can find on Wowhead regarding a level requirement for Mr Pinchy is 01Aug 2012. My 10 Hunter fished his first pool over 2 years prior to that and both hit 525 Fishing as well as finished 'The Coin Master' in December of 2011, nearly a year prior to that comment. Meaning I had MORE than enough fishing skill to fish him up well before the date of that comment. So, it IS possible that there wasn't a level requirement before and now there is, of which I honestly do not remember. What I certainly do remember is spending days on end up there fishing for him until I got him, on my 10. Blizzard is famous for adding level requirements well after the fact when they find low level twinks doing things they think they shouldn't be doing, like I don't know, locking them out of ICC for no more Precious' Ribbon perhaps.

I also have an idea/request to help this along. For the entire time that I've been twinking 10's it's been 100% solo either running my ass all over the place for hours on end or getting a ride via 2-seater with my 2nd account while dual boxing. Getting an AGM 100% solo at 10 with nobody to defend you is a bitch. You can imagine just how slow and tedious this can be to earn certain achievements, not to mention impossible to get some, like Raid. What I'm wondering is if cross Realm raiding can be done with 10's. I'm not sure if the character being a 10 will be able to take an invite via cross Realm, I know you can form a raid group with a 10 in the party and on the same Realm, I've done that plenty of times but I obviously can't solo most raids, save Onyxia. The other 2 issues are if most of you are EU and Alliance that makes it tough on me being US and Horde.

If we can figure something out I'd suggest a trade, no coin/money required. One or more 10's from various Realms join up with players that have 70-90's (depending on needed raid/dungeon content) and head in for an evening of licking the floor while the highbees kill each boss. Then we switch on a different night, the 10's from the previous run jump on their 70-90's to help out. This would vastly speed up the achievement/vanity/bragging rights of many of our 10's while also not costing anyone anything but time, something people who twink are all too familiar with.

I'd be interested in ANY Dungeon/Raid achievement/vanity items we could get with a level 10. I already know some/all Pandarian ones are out, been there tried that, couldn't enter unless I'm doing it wrong. Also for those who'd be interested in the gear side of it. Yes I know we couldn't gear 10's to do BG's with and it'd be uncool let alone possible a bad idea to even log out wearing items received from bugging into Dungeons/Raids not meant for a level 10 but it'd really just be for the RP fun of it. That makes me wonder what items we could use to transmog our actual gear with. Normally it has to be equipable by that level 10 (meaning cannot have a level requirement of 11 or higher) and follow the normal rules of xmog. I do know that many items that drop in Dungeon/Raid and via the loot satchel do not have level requirements so that could open up a whole new level of xmog fun for us.

Let me know if anyone is interested. I have a 90 Hunter, Druid (Resto/Balance), DK (Blood), Pally (Holy) and my 6 Level 10's. I'm best on my Hunter, 2nd is Druid, my DK was great in WotLK but haven't done much with him in Panda, and I'm meh on my Pally.
