30-39 MrCer's 39 Twink Paladin Guide

I am done with my FC set (excluding those 28 stam shoulders [5099 unbuffed]). I now want to work on my Ret set. I followed the guide as shown and was wondering if there was anything additional someone could add as far as gear goes. I am missing the Bear ring and that's it. I need to replace some enchants also ie cloak, chest, bracers and boots. I was wondering about the trinkets mentioned. I still have the Mark of the Chosen. Is that still worth anything? Thanks :) Ooch @ Uldaman - Game - World of Warcraft

Mark of the Chosen was an awesome trinket back in the day when it was available because it was an easy trinket to obtain until you got your AGM. IMO you won't need it when you get your AGM(you have 2 agms so your fine). When your PvP trinket is on CD it's nice to swap out your other trinkets and use their special abilities until your PvP trinket's CD is over and just continue to rotate.

IMO Mark of the Chosen isn't worth using in a ret set. When I messed around with ret I'd usually rotate my trinkets like this: PvP Trinket, Gnomish Deathray(fun when you combine it with HoJ), Gnomish Battle Chicken, PvP Trinket, Gnomish Deathray and then the BG would usually by over by then. I liked keeping my AGM on at all times.

Hey, isn't the new 2h from the Dire maul quest called The Treasure of the Shen'dralar

The weapon Im thinking on is Fras Siabi's Cigar Cutter

I am not 100% sure if Fras Siabi is > Mograine, but I will figure that out asap. I will add it to the list tho until I figure out which one is better and replace them.

Another thing, what's this "28 Stam shoulder"? Is it the old Plate-Shoulders from Satchel bag?

Alrighty, I'll add it to the guide tomorrow, I'll look into what other stats it gives too.

umm, i have a rogue and warlock ill be queing with, which race would be best in this situation? i will have all specs(shockadin, healadin, tank, prot dps, ret) i will be mostly prot dps and shockadin, which race?

Horde or Alliance?

EDIT:

For Horde I would go with blood elves, the War stomp shares Diminishing returns with the rogues Stun locking so adding another AoE Stun(2 sec which will be smaller because of Diminishing returns) Plus HoJ stun. The positives in that 3 man cell set up is you have a handy fear, stuns from both the rogue and paladin, and plenty of DPS. And because of the stun locking+fearspam, your target is very vulnerable to dmg which can be nice for 3 man'ing 1 guy down FAST. But what you lack is silences. Warlocks have a silence IF they have their felhunter out and rogues have 1 silence. IMO having the extra silence from blood elves would be nice; this way you have fear, silence, stunlocking, and plenty of DPS.

For Alliance it's either or. Humans are the default choice for paladins since you get the extra PvP trink slot, which is always good and totally is a fine choice to go with. Or you can go with Draenei which can be nice for your 3 man cell. Draenei offers 1% hit rating to all allies within 100 yards plus the extra HoT which is a "so-so" good heal. The 1% Hit isn't game breaking and neither is the extra Heal, at least nothing compared to Human's racial ability; but the 1% hit rating allows your teammates to put more stats into other stats other than hit which can mean either more survival or/and more DPS. But like I said, Humans are the default choice. So that's up to you and your other 2 buds.

Wouldn't "Miner's Hat of the Deep" be best for Holy? Just wondering is all since I have been using it for the longest time now on mine. Any thoughts on that?

Int does give SP now, which gives a larger mana pool and crit.

In some cases, Int > SP. Example:

Enchanting your 1-h BoA healing mace will be 22 Int instead of 30 SP. The difference in the SP is only 8 SP if you go 22 Int(about a 26% decrease in SP)

Another example would be: Using the +12 int to wrist instead of +15 SP. The difference in SP is only 3 SP(about a 20% decrease in SP)

However there are times when SP comes before Int. Miner's Helm of the Deep gives 12 Int(12 SP) and Green Lens of Healing gives 29 SP. That's almost a 59% difference in SP; Your losing way to much SP if you were to use Miner's Helm of the Deep. You would be getting a larger mana pool, 20 extra health, and extra crit. But a 39 holy paladin should not have troubles running out of mana, if you have BiS gear you'll be pretty close to 3.7k mana which is more than enough; You'll most likely Die before you run out of mana.

To answer your question, the only time I would consider not using Green Lens of Healing is if you traded Engineering for Mining then used the BoA Mail Helm, not miner's helm of the deep.

If you were to do that, you'd gain 42 Armor, 13 int(130 mana + crit), 8 SP, 19 stam(9 from helm and 10 from mining) and 8 crit at the cost of 16 SP and engineering toys.

Hmm alright. I'll just stick with my miners hat until I am able to grab a boa helm then. Just another week or so until then ^.^ Oh and ty very much for your input !

I'm thinking of making a typical Prot / Holy Paladin, switching between FC and heals depending on what is needed. Assuming I'm going to run flags, I figured I'd take Mining for the hp. Now for Holy, I was going to pick up herb for the haste, but you're making a good argument for the Green Lens of Healing. Seeing as how Holy Light is really the only long casting spell, mostly everything else is either instant or fast casting, perhaps haste isn't as important? Especially with all the talents to bring down the cast time for Holy Light. So Green Lens SP+Engineering tools>Lifeblood?

Also, how often do you find yourself casting Holy Light in PvP? I was looking at your first Holy talent build, and saw that you put a full 3 points into Clarity of Purpose, bringing Holy Light down to a 2 second cast. I was originally thinking of just putting 1 point in Clarity and putting the other two points in Blazing Light instead. I assumed I'd just use Holy Light whenever Infusion of Light procced (bringing it down to 1.5 second cast). Is it reasonable to go with Blazing Light for harder hitting dmg instead, or is Holy Light used a lot?

In the past, Lifeblood used to be a huge thing because of how much it used to heal you. Now it's a haste benefit and minor healing. The haste you get from lifeblood is 11.74% haste increase. If you want my honest opinion, I'd go Mining/Eng. But if you don't go eng then use herb to replace it and use the Shammy BoA Healing helm to replace the green lens of healing.

For healing, go for the first build holy build. I don't think blazzed speed is necessary for a healing paladin for a few reasons. With Denounce, your exorcism will already do plenty of dmg without ooming you. The 2nd reason why is because of Infusion of Light, I think it's slightly overpowered because of how often it procs for me when I heal. You won't need Blazzed Light because Denounce is more than enough to do topend dmg as a holy paladin. You'll be using Infusion of Light Procs more than you'll use exorcism imo.

Thank you for this. This is the type of stuff I look for in guides that all so frequently seems to be missing. Looking forward to the FC tips 8)

Had some questions on Hand of Protection. It can remove physical effects from other people (like gouge, blind and sap), right? Can you use it on yourself if you've been physically debuffed or no?

Yes, if you cast it on someone it will remove a gouge/blind/sap(it also dismounts ppl if i remember correctly tho i might be wrong). If by "Physically debuffed" you mean stunned or CC'd by a non-caster ability then yes. There will be plenty of times when I am with my FC and a rogue will sap me. I immediately use Hand of Protection(it has a 5 min cooldown just like the pvp trinket) so I don't fall too far behind the FC when a rogue saps me. I hope that answered your question.
