Honestly, ever since the "BiS" acronym was introduced into this community, there has been a growing feeling that that's all people care about.



Not that everyone is purely obsessed with becoming the "best" through their gear, just seems like things are changing too much



I feel like people should watch this movie.

wow man that video really opens my eyes. that mage at the end kicked ass. ty for posting that vid i never goto that website and it amazed me. keep up the good work.
 
Imo that's what twinking a char is all about. Getting the very best gear available so yes, it's a large part these days cause it's very popular to make a twink. I love the concept of maxing something low lvl and do it in other games too.
 
Well... If you aren't going for the best possible gear, whats the point in twinking? That is what twinking is all about, obtaining the best possible gear for that specific level.



Awesome movie tho.

I feel like the challenge of PvP is becoming second nature to obtaining the BiS gear
 
New gear is great. I just hope that pvp doesn't lose it's zest anymore than it has because of BiS

I'm not BiS - But i still enjoy playing my twink, alot.



+ It's always fun to beat someone who's BiS, when you're not.

What I have always liked about twinking, was being an underdog
 
Getting BiS gear is more of a formality when it comes to twinking and just requires a bit of time. When it comes to XP-off it boils down to skill of the person behind the Class because everyone is BiS or dam close to it. I've seen amazing things come from gimped classes by people who make due with what they have in front of them. True enough the fact that some classes are definitly lacking while others are facerolls but a little time learning what your class is really capable of can make for some fun times. I have had my ass handed to me on my Resto Shammy many a time but at the same time I've saved the FC's ass just as many times. Those are the moments that make twinking great.
 
BiS has always been a facet of twinking that doesn't mean that people ignore skill now or that just because people are BiS we think they are good i know several BiS people who are total trash.

but BiS isnt hard anymore i takes a while and a little luck but by no means hard
 
I was talking to some people in vent a few weeks ago about this. I decided that what initially got me into twinking was the discovery. Finding OP gear nobody had thought of before (LFH, AGM), then later on discovering things that clearly werent intended/people wouldnt think of (armor kits, 450 profs to an extent but I hated those...). I started twinking back when people knew almost zero about it, and it was fun to be competitive with my friends, 1upping their gear, helping each other find better items, etc. TBC was a lot of fun and is imo the best days of twinking: you still had to balance XP with gear/travel, meaning you actually had to plan ahead. Shit, I still get nostalgic every time I see a Nethercleft kit on the AH.



I still love twinking now, and Id say its a lot better in some aspects (playing versus only other twinks is great, if only we had better Qs) but its also a lot more....mathy. Look at any post about gear or spec and you see people arguing percentages and stat maximizing and shit...yes, its the definition of BiS, but in my opinion it took some of the fun away and replaced it with cold boring min/maxing

If you really were from the times when "people" didnt know about things like AGM and LFH then you wouldnt get nostalgic over shit like nethercleft

I started twinking in Vanilla, pre-battlegroups. My favorite time to twink was when leg kits were around. Leg kits are in the past, nostalgic means a desire to return to a previous time.
