Some Hunter concerns regarding the upcoming 4.0.6 patch

The upcoming patch 4.0.6 will bring some drastic changes to the class and it might affect lvl39 twinking.

These are the important changes that will change our lvl1-39 spells and talents:

* Aimed Shot weapon damage has been increased to 200%, up from 150%. In addition, the base cast time has been reduced to 2.4 seconds, down from 3.

* Hunters can now use Auto Shot while moving.

* Explosive Shot damage has been reduced by 15%.

* Arcane Shot damage has been increased by 15%.

* Kill Shot's attack power scaling has been increased by 50%.

* Hunter vs. Wild has been increased to 5/10/15% Stamina.

* Into the Wilderness has been reduced to a 10% Agility increase, down from 15%.

* Concussive Shot duration has been increased to 6 seconds, up from 4.

* Freezing Trap now has a PvP duration of 8 seconds.

* Wing Clip now has a PvP duration of 8 seconds.

I hope I haven't missed any other changes, keep in mind those are not the final patch notes and changes might be made before 4.0.6 goes live.

So far Survival Hunters lose 5% Agility and Explosive Shot deals 15% less damage, however we receive 5% extra Stamina.

Also Aimed Shot becomes a bit more appealing, Arcane Shot gets an extra 15% damage and we will be able to use auto shot when moving, which is a huge Marksmanship buff in my opinion.

So what do you think about those changes, will Survival still be the best PVP spec?

Will we be forced to use Glyph of Arcane Shot(12% extra damage), instead of Glyph of Explosive Shot(6% extra crit)?

Should we stack more stamina in order to benefit from the +5% increase, or focus more on Agility to overcome the 5% reduction?

I think that this opens up the option of other specs, iirc Survival is by far the most dominant spec.

To be honest, I think that the 5% drop in Agility is too low to push the few Hunters off their ledge, where they sit with Feral Druids and DPS Paladins.

The ignorance of the lower brackets is inept imo, and should be looked to - at least scaling-wise.

Biggest change there without a doubt is Auto-Shot whilst moving. Not sure I like the Arcane/Explosive change as it will just promote more Arcane Shot spam imo.

I still think erring on the side of survivability will be the way, especially with the Hunter vs Wild buff. I still weight 1 stam more than 1 agi, in most cases, so overall a slight buff too. The key will be if any gear can be switched out to hit the sweet spot, health wise, whilst maximising offensive stats.

Seems to me like a slight overall buff which wasn`t necessarily warranted in this bracket, although obviously needed at 85.

I still think Survival will be king. The Aimed Shot buff is actually quite nice, but with auto on the run, you have even less reason to need to stay still now (which hunters shouldn`t be doing that much in this bracket anyways, mobility is king). Survival will still be king with it`s retarded upfront, instant shot damage.

Regarding glyphs: I think it will weigh it more towards Arcane Shot definitely. The ES Glyph is still nice when running a high crit build though. Dual spec=both possibilties ;)

Any idea how useful Haste is for Hunters? They said that it will also affect Steady Aim in a future patch making it more valuable, but I know for sure that it affects your focus regeneration.

Again, will require more testing with a high haste set. I may get round to testing it eventually. I tried it with a low amount of haste and didn`t really notice a difference, plus it gimped other stats a little too much for my liking. There just doesn`t seem to be enough gear with decent amounts of it on, to make it worth it.

The litimus test would be to be able to get just enough haste to get off say, 6 Arcane Shots (or 1 more than you currently can) in a row from a full Focus Bar. Then you can just stack other offensive stats from there. This would further enhance the retarded initial burst.

Not sure if it`s possible to get enough, will have to experiment, but gut feeling says "Don`t Bother".

One thing I don't understand is how haste will actually affect Hunters after the upcoming patch. They said that they want to make haste equally important as crit rating so I am wondering whether the increased focus regeneration and faster autoshots/steady shots will compare to having extra crit instead.

Did anyone play some after patch 4.0.6? How is Marksmanship compared to Survival spec now? I was browsing the 15-19 section and it seems that MM Hunters got buffed quite a lot, they are dominating the bracket!
