Queues alread 9m long and growing :/

Just came back to check in on any news regarding 10.0 and boy am I informed now. I had actually just resubbed this summer and leveled jewelcrafting and farmed enchanting materials for my level 20 warrior, paladin, and deathknight, along with catching up on end-game, as I do for at least one sub during every summer and winter since the end of legion. I allow my sub to run out because I wont pay to play a few battlegrounds a month while work, life, and university all take up so much of my time,m but I've always loved the game and was very excited for Dragonflight. This all changed with this horrible idea of dropping vets and f2ps into a dead queue.

The "power creep" of end-game is in such a horrendous state that our iLvl ceiling at the end of an expansion is nearly double that of when it began, which makes it feel like you're fighting or competing with someone who is double your level. In PvE content, someone of the same class with the same spec and rotation but with twice your item level is doing nearly an order of magnitude more damage than you, and in PvP that person is nearly one-shotting you. The graduated growth experiment of 5% power gain for every "tier" of content difficulty was already killing this game, considering there's over 10 difficulties to choose from, but compounding the problem are the expansion-unique power systems that truly break the game. Sure, walking around and killing npcs feels ok, but it certainly isn't ok when you're made to feel as though you're on the level of an npc compared to someone else. There should be NO amount of effort that rewards THAT MUCH advantage.

You might be able to infer that the one thing that kept me even sporadically interested in the game was playing battlegrounds in a bracket that doesn't have that much of a power gap, excluding those ridiculous broken grandfathered items that certain people attained during the level and stat squishes. This change, however, merely takes the one refuge I had and stuck me back into the same disgusting state of end-game pvp I'm trying to avoid, with the main difference being that I can NEVER close THIS power gap.

I'd lately been of the mind that joining parties outside of matchmaking should also be restricted to subscribers, just as a stopgap solution to the awful premades we've been experiencing and to level the playing field, since most players aren't party syncing to game the legacy loot systems of all the content we got from shadowlands, but this change has highlighted something important to me: this game is no longer worth any thought, and nor is it worth paying any more of my money into. Classic is just going to end up becoming the shit game I took a break from over 10 years ago and the game in general is growing a higher proportion of the types of know-it-all yet know-nothing players I never have and never will want to play with.

And I've been dying to get this off my chest to those assholes I don't like:
By the way, those skeletons in Auchenai Crypts drop threat, so you died because you know nothing about the dungeon: my tanking ain't the problem, your pulling the room is.
Those rogues and casters are silencing me. I know how to heal and I know the dungeon: You are the one who doesn't know shit.

Finally, thanks for all the resources I've used from this forum. Maybe I'll return if they take xp gain out of battlegrounds and put them back to how they were when they worked "best."

Im gonna channel my inner chops here and say that based on this comment, perhaps a MMO with gear is not for you.
Dumb comment is dumb.

The amount of dps toons at 20 are doing due to how broken gemming makes the bracket, this is no longer an MMO. Its counter strike with more buttons.

I truly mean it when I say you have to be nearly a drooling moron to enjoy the bracket in its current state. I have no issue with gearing. I twinked with the best of them since BC. But we are doing nearly 4x the amount of dps now and stam is nearly unchanged. Its just stupid game play.

Sure, because gems are clearly the problem.

Not things like Balefire giving a set amount of int regardless of level, making it stupidly strong from the moment Waycrest becomes accessible, or the division between caster specs in having to choose MH/OH exclusively thanks to enchants making staves a nonstarter, or weapon proc spam from Whirlwind (double Pulv moment), class and spec design being inherently imbalanced as kit parity is not maintained well with milestone abilities at lower levels, interactions with some enchants and abilities that would not happen on other classes (Lifestealing on MW most egregiously), level scaling, items with stat on proc (Destiny, Hand of Edward the Odd, Singing Crystal Axe, etc).

But sure, gems are the problem.

Not like we already tried that solution *before* with Talasites and Shattered Halls gems.

Nope. Definitely didn't.

Definitely fixed the bracket.

Uh huh.

... man, it's almost as if most of these problems have nothing to do with gems at all.

Edit: literally just checked my gems on my arms. Oh man, 36str from gems that are accessible to F2P through the wrath versions, that... can also be made up for by simply equipping Destiny, mostly made up for with post-nerf Crusader, Daelo's on-use, Scabbard on-use, Lessons of the Darkmaster on-use... and 36 stam, which makes me tankier and higher dps from other characters less relevant.

I feel like this is more a complaint as to how busted Versatility can be for some specs in this bracket rather than a consequence of gems directly.

you’re not going to like DF beta given current scaling then.

numbers have to be outrageous since latest build.
[doublepost=1664475336,1664475258][/doublepost]Remember when people only complained about i49 artifacts. It’s almost like we can wish for those days back.

But sure, gems are the problem.
You can get 18 gem slots w/o even counting neck, rings, or trinkets which would be another four or five.

60 primary stats static if you choose pure stat gems.

Thats the equivalent of a str class having 2 crusader procs constantly up.

That is broken af.

There was nothing good about the bracket before the merge. It was laughable. A bunch of goons playing in it. Its just entirely worse now. But its worse in the sense of comparing stepping one shoe in dog crap versus both.

Kind of sad that people are still playing 20s :/ well, I hope you never get queues. Got to stop feeding 29s false hope that this bracket is their home.

I mean there can be multiple things wrong with the twinking, gems are one of them. Broken items that are overtunned or just obnoxious ( stun maces, balefire) def need to be adressed as well.

Dont you think some classe are fuk broken in base line? After all dont need any gems for op classes to get other players.

Yeah def, some classes have really over the top damage by just existing as well. lots of things could be better at lower levels.

Am I the only one to think that gems make somewhat balanced gameplay? Sure, OP classes get even more bursty, but with full str gems unholy dk smacks but as a baseline its kinda meh. I recently geared one and putting every gem felt so impactful because of how awful no gemmed dk is. Same thing with dh. Now if you take hunter, sure he gets stronger but you already do 200dps as hunter with lvling gear no gems no enchants, and gems somehow close the gap in damage

Before they nerfed steady talasite perhaps

The problem with the "This busted item makes unplayable classes/specs playable" is that when the optimal classes start abusing the items, they become an abject fucking insanity to deal with. Yeah, DK is a pain without gems, and fully gemmed, it becomes a relatively enjoyable experience...until you meet Hunters that are one class and a half at this bracket, and when fully gemmed and abusing the same items others abuse, are walking chernobyls on the battlegrounds.

But is the loss of brain cells from prolonged exposure to hunter gameplay worth it in the long run?

These guys don’t understand. At the beginning of SL things like talasites, ilv49 and 54artifacts, and other gfd gear actually promoted diversity in the bracket. People played their classes from BFA because all that gear had to be obtained before community decided “tier listings” were out

once 99% of it all was removed everyone just rerolled to what was most powerful. Hunter.

The way DF is shaping up, I think there’s going to be a lot of gfd stuff. And at the very least it’s looking to be a very alt unfriendly xpac. Good.

I mean, i don't disagree that it made classes playable. I'm just saying that the swap would have happened anyway because Hunters are busted in any scenario you think of. Was it better back then? Absolutely, you're right. Was it *GOOD*? God no.

I dk I think I am done fighting for or complaining about 20 PvP. If you enjoy low level PvP the games you get just throwing on now gear and quing up are much better than the xp off games. Much better than our games have been for a while actually.

Looking forward to exploring the pve aspects of my 20s.

I am sorry for what seems like the death of true ftp pvp.

Instead of arguing whether this bracket has long queues or has good games, just queue up and try it out yourself...I have seen plenty of 20s that hold their own. Games are often really fun and competitive.

edit: you can see here second place is 29 hunter, third place is 20 hunter, dmg done difference is negligible. 20s healers like coda also hold their own against 29s as long as the two teams are evenly matched in terms of dmg output.

if anything, hunter is now less oppressive in general than before (still OP).

wish more people would pay sub and make 29 twinks so that you don't gimp your own team on purpose (as opposed to being on a 29).

But if you don't want to pay and I am just letting you know that 20s are still relevant.
