Cataclysm Classic Confirmed

As much as I want a mop classic I kinda agree that cat onwards isn't classic. It's not modern either it def falls into a middle catagory

Classic is vanilla tbc wotlk
Middle ages is cata mop wod
Modern is legion bfa slands and maybe df? Df might just be a renaissance though who know.

Adding qol updates from other xpacs in lnto wotlk would be fun to try out though I would be all for it.
 
I have 3 active accounts right now, but I don't see a survey in my emails. What am I missing?

I just have something about a free Shadowlands expansion and L50 boost.

Personally I am holding back from investing heavily into Wrath Classic because I don't want to be forced to Cata in the future. Or something stupid like needing to pay for every toon I keep on a Wrath server.

i would conclude the interregnum w/ mop, wld and onwards is when their fucking ass-ideas finally completely took over and ruined the fucking game; wotlk the writing was actually on the wall already wrt dumbing down (rip downranking), and cata is when all of it begun in its earnest

that being said, lfr is a necessary evil. that's not what killed off/ruined the game.

Survey for refining Classic Cataclysm were sent out to some players yesterday, basically confirming the continuity of expansions.

Wotlkc isn't even released and they're already putting a bad taste in our mouths.

To those who don't know what this represents, Cataclysm is basically like removing Naxx40 to 60 twinks but to all lower level twinks. The Shattering brings the removal of A LOT of BiS items gathered from quests. So Cataclysm despite bringing some good (OP specs/talents at low level pvp, insane Explosive shot dmg for hunters), was actually very bad to the twink community as it created a dichotomy between gfd vs non-gfd twinks.

Would love to hear your thoughts

Tldr Cataclysm potentially confirmed; huge grandfathering of low lvl twink items coming.

WOTLK removed Naxx40 and Onyxia's lair from 60's, CATA removed ZG from 60s and ZA from 70s making it 85 content. blizzard robbed or borrowed Van WOW content from WOTLK thru MOP. many influencers always slam CATA as the reason private servers for 60's started. news flash, private servers started in Van WOW, and grew in BC. the one that everyone talks about most was the one shut down in MOP or WOD, that lead to blizzard considering doing classic wow

as for CATA boomkins became tier 1 over hunters, no cost infinite spam of rejuv, never OOM spam dots, a ton of hunters rerolled, BH twinks should still know this, they even pretty much named their druids using asci/map characters to match their hunters.

arcane mages came into power and were a serious match for hunters

feral druids also came into power one of their attacks, infected wounds i think? it was like crippling poison which rogues at 19 did not have. was huge in 19 bracket, blizz ganked i think in MOP, ferals also had bottomless rejuvs and moonfire spams

is blizz allowing player copies to WOTLK, if they allow it GF gear will be a issue. 49 bracket was able to farm gear they could not equip in WOTLK from vanilla dungeons they could enter, load it up with WOTLK enchants because it had the item level req, when CATA rolled, instances in old content was nerfed, and 49s who farmed the gear were able to equip it and all the enchants and leg armors etc worked. killed what was left of the bracket

I totally agree. The one thing I am afraid tho is: Classic servers, Wrath servers, Retail servers (for now). Whoever is playing wotlk rn would say that the game lives again, but classic and (I heard) retail's population is kinda bleeding.

I believe they should stick to only two modes. Classic and Retail and not segregate the population into all these servers.
But then again, classic what.... vanilla? wotlk? I'm really curious what will they choose to move forward, and I totally support those surveys they are sending. As long as the questions are relevant and make sense, it's a good way to find out what your playerbase wants.

fair enough, I think wod had some good ideas but also a lot of bad ones, I personally liked the gear scalling in bgs but I know others did not.

You know i actually agree with that, I really dont think lfr is what 'killed' this game.
 
oh, every expansion had some good ideas, just like not everything hitler's done is bad (hi godwin :KEKW:) but yea

I believe what happened is they wanted to allow flying in Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms, but in order to do so technically they needed a team to draw over the territorial Z coordinates to establish flight boundaries. While doing that the devs decided why not create a bad guy who mashes all these things together or tears them apart, their actions not unlike a child playing with Play-Doh. This then broke lots of stuff and the game changed drastically.
