Dragonflight Stat Squish

So it sounds more like we're probably gaining slightly more power then. Who knows how it will end out, at the very least ilvls will be higher across the board

Don’t know what to make of this but I have a feeling if the iLvl’s drop and gems are still allowed, people are going to get one shot even more so than now. Everyone losing 1000hp in total would be brutal. We’ll see what happens though, not going to make any early judgement calls just yet.

It's odd because currently on BETA my items are all item level 31 as they have been since the level squish on Retail, but according to the graph provided by WoWHead I should be getting all my items upgraded to item level 50/51..?

...Which would just about double my gear's base stats as they currently are on BETA, putting them back to where they currently are on retail, so.. yeah.

So what I get, based on this, is either they will change our equipped items and already existing items to the new normalized 51 ilvl, and that will not change almost anything, or just leave them at this level, and only new farmed gear will drop with the correct ilvl and increased stats(basically turning all existing gear into crap for our level).

Personally, based on what they did during the last item stats readjustment -(remember legion prepatch gear?) I see the second option to be more plausible, witch means we will need to farm our BiS again, enchant again, gem again, all BoEs farmed before DF will loose huge price value....

Edit: Imagine all that extra grind done to get a item version with speed +socket is wasted time, Blizz just took a dump on that investment.

This is what I fear the most, however this can't work with a lot of existing gear such as raid tiers and legendary weapons. If it did then that would mean that players would end up having two different versions of the same item. That would work with dungeon gear, but not with tier sets and legendaries because those don't scale to level.

I believe that it comes down to itemID changes. They'll simply put existing level-25 (ex-lv60) raid gear at ilvl 51. Same with Legendary weapons.

The question is whether this will happen with existing dungeon drops and BoE items as well, however.

The 'problem' with existing dungeon items is that every dungeon item already has multiple versions at different item levels existing in the game at the same time, so they could very easily only adjust non-scaling items such as tier sets and legendaries, but then not scale existing dungeon drops at the same time to, for example, "save development time and/or resources".

HOWEVER..

..They did state the following, again, to quote this Dev reply:

upload_2022-9-14_5-46-33.png

They want players who already own dungeon gear at lv60 to log in when Dragonflight pre-patch hits and then still have the same stats as before.

That would indicate that they **WILL** scale existing drops that players already own at endgame, due to mythic+ having many versions of the same item existing in the game at different item levels at the same time.

..So, while I can't tell you with 100% certainty that existing gear will still be BIS and won't have to be re-farmed when the pre-patch hits, I think we have a reason to be a little bit optimistic/relieved.

If the graph is accurate then no scaling for lvl 10’s

There is also a real risk here that people with busted ilvl 44 necks or ilvl 59 gear would have even more broken gear. Sadly I don’t have any of those items, but a ilvl 59 helm could scale right up to ilvl 125.

I really hope Blizz put the effort in for this scaling process! :FrogeConcern:

Idk if it was announced here already but on ptr 1 stam = 17 hp (at 29, tested at 3 different characters after i noticed that i got like ~200 more hp) but at 20 it is still 1 stam = 11 hp. Why? Idk, fr, unequipped and then equipped gear pieces 1 by 1 on ptr and retail - they have same stats, but at the end you have more hp on ptr lmao. Base racial stats are the same. May be instead of giving main stat it is giving 5% to hp or smth like that (not stamina, stamina values were identical on ptr and live while i was testing)
Belt buckle is not working on ptr. It exists in items you used it at but inserted second gem is giving 0 stats.
5% bonus from armor type (full cloth gear etc.) isnt working on ptr right now.

blizzard speaks in very exacted thought out legal speak. IH is a lawyer, firm he worked for or was associated with is one of blizzards legal teams.

look what they said with the toys on blizzard store related to AWC, people read it assuming that buying the toys would boost AWC prize pool, people ended paying for the prize pool and blizzard used none of their money.

diablo immortal, several DEVs said it not pay to win which they can legally btw get away with. wyatt said there is no pay to win gear in the game, again legally correct but still deceptive

RAF or store mounts, they run a campaign that the mount will not longer be available after X-date with a small symbol * or what looks like a cross. and way down on page X is a super small fine print, basicly says we can bring it back anytime.

again with blizzard on the squish going into DF. what they say is vague and open ended

- overall goal, this speaks on its own, goal = goal not a promise
- level 60 today logs into DF with same item level, so they are covered nerfing/squishing players 1-59
- approximately the same stats as before, lol approximately, so blizzard can slightly squish even a 60 also. claiming like a better continuity or transition in DL gearing.

Playing on my 59 on Beta for fun earlier, I was getting ilvl 184 quest rewards proccing epic up to 190. I think with that in mind going off of that graph the scaling isn't finished yet, if Shadowlands becomes available for testing from Chromie Time and the stats are all still super low then I think it'll be time to go into panic mode but from the sounds of it right now a stat upscale is the plan. Probably best not to theorize yet, instead best to just wait before some people go into panic mode

If the ilvl of the gear will be increased do you think they might have a oversight regarding the ilvl required for gems, and we could be looking at useable main stat/mastery gems? Like cata/pandaria gems?

PTR is busted atm. It's wholly different from BETA. Last time I checked PTR I got 20% from only 2 avoidance.

If we'll be able to use CATA gems then I doubt that'll be an oversight. I think it might be intended as they want everything to scale from 10-60.

While I'm both apprehensive to level/gear-grind/farm BiS lootz at the moment, & just kindov ready for a break, tbh;
I am beginning to get the feeling that gear won't be an issue, & re-gearing will not be necessary.
My lingering curiosity is: will we be doing away with BoE world-drop gear farmers come DF?
Any recon on that is most welcome.

Considering that world drops have not just highest item level, but also drop with socket+Tertiary and have slots that do so that don't drop in dungeons (BFA dungeons have no chest/shoulder/helms or necks), no; It will always remain a thing.

...Unless they add make all gear in the game from all expansions be able to drop with a socket+Tertiary.

...But even then you'll have to re-gear. At least once. In dungeons.

Not being a negative nancy but my bet is that whatver blizz is trying to do... they gonna fug it up as usual. I'd be ready.
HhahahHAhHA! i know that's right! No matter... it may yet turn out to be very interesting?!
I'm already looking at a complete re-roll for 29's to get level ap. BiS gear, so...
I can't imagine a scenario where all our gear is totally hosed after they fuck up the un-fucking of leveling gear.

.... 0,o it is Blizz, tho

How much HP did those 2 mages have? And sadly I have not played mage - how much damage do the arcane missiles tooltips say on retail right now? Thanks for showing the comparison :)

Screenshot (135).png v Screenshot (136).png

29 on live, 3,056 HP, missiles hit for 1,019 Dmg.
20 on live 1,837 HP, missiles hit for 733 Dmg.

29 on Beta, 2,329 HP.
20 on Beta, 1,210 HP.
