Expanding hit has nothing to do with expertise. And in pvp there is 0 chance at 79 you ever get to a point where your crits will be pushed off the table.

expertise is easily the lowest stat for a warrior in pvp, but I’ll play nicer and say you do you

Do you not understand the hit table? Expertise pushes your hit into enemy dodge parry portion.
 
If landing more hits doesn't affect hit I don't know what does mate. You can call it whatever you want but we both know what I'm talking about.
 
Omg wrath is fun. My 70 'prot' war (unrelenting assault in arms) is getting 5 k revenge crits on boosties. Only wearing 6 pieces of brutal too. Sweeping strikes + revenge spam and cleave down a whole group. This is my dmg as an arms warrior using sword and board. Zero dmg on npcs, all pvp.

Wanting to play a prot spec at 70-something and cant decide between pally or warrior... kind of over the pally thing already but I did like the prot pally playstyle back in the day (at 60 at least). Any insight on warrior beyond revenge spam?

Or any big difference between 70 and 79? I at least have a pally at 70... omg trying to level a warrior from scratch too. :kms:

Not really, revenge spam is king (in full pvp gear). Well actually it's charge > sweeping strikes (it's off the GCD and glyphed it's 0 rage) > def stance > shield block (also off GCD) then revenge. Revenge is glyphed so you get free heroic strikes. Sweeping strikes sometimes does 25% of my total damage. Last night I had a 6 k sweeping strikes hit. I've also gotten a 7 k revenge hit on a clothie since upgrading my gear. Can also destroy rogues in battle stance with 1 second overpowers. No problem verse clothies in battle stance either. Overpower procs + shield slam + spell reflects and mortal strike as a rage dump. Second wind heals are nice.

Full prot just doesn't do as much dmg in s4 gear. Maybe if you have access to pve gear and got over 2 k+ block value you'd get some juicy shield slams. I'll say that playing any type of prot spec without piercing howl is massively frustrating. Hamstring and shield bash are too unreliable. Heroic strike also does more dmg to dazed targets. Part of the problem is that at 70 you are quite limited in what specs you can play. For instance you can't get shockwave and piercing howl at the same time. Those extra 9 talent points make a big difference imo. At lvl 75-76 you get 3 big abilities. Enraged regen and a new rank of shield slam + HS. Shattering throw at 71 can help turn the tables on pallies.

The main reason I don't like full prot is that if I charge into a group of 4 dks (happens constantly in AV right now), I won't kill them all. As 38/11/12, I can most definitely kill them all. Keep in mind I out gear most people tho. Full s4 gemmed and enchanted. Also I'll usually lose 1v1 to a geared blood dk in frost presence. Prot pallies are also a pain to fight.

My favourite thing as revenge spec is to find a priest who thinks they're untouchable and use their teammates to feed me revenge procs straight into the priest.

w/ 78/79 full prot will be good again since now you can actually spec both shockwave and impale, amongst others
you can also go for like, 75 or something for better crit/arp scaling, but it's actually a good & legit spec at that point

at 70 deepprot is probably not that good due to the lack of impale

also, prot warrior >>>>> prot paladin
 
Well I boosted one cuz screw hours and hours of leveling in my free time... it's ok. I like it so far, just fooling around PvE, fishing for revenge procs is kinda meh but I expect there's less fishing in a BG. Can actually just do battle stance in PvE.

If I dont like it I can always just switch to arms with the same-ish gear and I know I'll enjoy that.

The complete lack of any self-healing at all is a downside for me, relying on my fellow BG participants to heal is always a sketchy proposition... but it'll be fine. If i need it super-easy I can always just hop on a pally and faceroll. :monkaLaugh:
 
if you like turtling & self healing and shit like that, id suggest you try preg then ... missing the last point of 1h spec or sheath is kinda :monkaS: but it'll work @79
 
Well... there's a difference between turtling & self healing and shit like that and not having any healing at all.

If i prot pally I'll be tossing around that shield of silence, more yuks from that than frustration of a poorer potential. :KEKW:

edit- not sure how it will translate to PvP but finding a lot of utility swapping stances with the assault spec and not just fishing revenge procs. We'll see, not too worried about it just getting used to it. That's half the fun anyway, IMO.
 
preg is much better than prot tho, bc prot you cant really heal yourself either other than by using the fucking anemic sol

preg however you get taow and also powerful heals since you're using a spellpower weapon
 
Playing prot in pvp just confirms your place as a misanthrope. Glad to see people wanting to play in the bracket but god is it annoying to deal with something intended to tank bosses in a bg. And with wotlk trying to balance tanks by making them higher dps than dps just makes for an annoying experience

Not near as annoying as getting into a BG and having jack shit to help against good/geared/twinked players on the other side. SO as far as this temporary farce of a reenactment goes, i'll play whatever gets me some yuks when I can.

There is no legacy here... no lasting detriment. This is something you get for free while subbed for something else.

If normal, routine games get going then I wouldnt enjoy playing prot anything. But to hop into a random whenever... yeah.
