How to: Loot Destiny, Hand of Edward the Odd, and Skullflame Shield under Level 20. (lvl 13 or 18)

Did you think these items would remain unobtainable under 20?

Hi, all. A long time visitor and appreciator of the site. I have been working on a level 45 Classic => Legion Prot Paladin and I am very curious about the level requirement needed to min/max the BiS version of the Skullflame Shield for my paladin @ 45. At this point, after visiting wowhead and playing with the slider scale for ilvl on the shield, I want to confirm that I am correct with the potential drop being level 45 with an iLVL of 50? This would imply that I could farm this shield on my Paladin instead of having to make another character, correct? I have no problem with making a farmer, I just was not sure if the wowhead slider was as accurate as I'd hoped for and I've seen some conflicting information crossing ways.

P.S. I have made an account and I am happy to be here. Thanks for all the hard work and information you've all put together. I really appreciate the fact that there are other people who enjoy playing the game in a similar fashion as I do. My main intentions for the current project I'm working on is to play the game at a rate in which is comfortable to me, without much needed aid from others, and to increase a main character's strength significantly over the course of a few years and enjoying upgrades fully while wielding some for a long period of time - this way of playing makes the game far more enjoyable and I feel like the time invested is honored way more than the mentality of going fast, getting gear, becoming bored, unsubscribing, and never achieving anything worthwhile.

Cheers

I wanted to share some tips on the way I farmed this. As some have mentioned layering / server hopping is the way to go.

Server hopping addons are mostly if not completely dead to my knowledge so here is how to 'manually' hop to maximize kills per hour.

The basic rules:
  • Every server should have its own layer with the exception of connected realms. I dont know the rules for posting external links here but wowpedia has a list of all connected realms
  • Chromie time has its own layer within each server
  • Warmode has its own layer within each server
  • The person who initiates an invite will pull anyone they invited to their server
  • Leaving a party will return you to your home server
This leaves us with 4 possible layers for each server / connected servers:
  1. Warmode off Chromie off
  2. Warmode on Chromie off
  3. Warmode off Chromie on
  4. Warmode on Chromie on

If you don't care about likely having to transfer a character from a different server, just make characters on as many different servers as you want to jump between them after you finish killing the mobs.

If you don't want to transfer, create 4 characters and have them in the 4 layers mentioned above

Multibox - Solo

This is how I did most of my farming.

Up to 4 characters on the 'home' server and 5-8 hopper characters on different servers

Hopper characters should have a macro to invite all of your home server characters and another to kick them all from the party. Technically a third macro to follow but if you are multiboxing it probably goes without saying.

Hopper logs in
Hopper hits invite all macro
Kill mobs
Hopper hits kick all macro
Hopper logs out and into new server
Repeat

Optional:
Elvui has an option to auto accept party invites to speed things up
Auto follow addon which will basically spam follow on the designated player in case the follow breaks for some reason

With 6 'hoppers' i was able to pretty much kill non stop with the exception of logging in and out which took about a minute or so each time. This led to the third strategy.

round-robin

The round robin strat can either be done with multi-boxing or in a group assuming they are all on different servers.
This is very similar to the previous method although instead of logging out after each clear, every character in the party will rotate inviting all and kicking all via the macro. This is probably the fastest method as you dont need to log out and log back in but every character needs to be on a different server. I opted to do the previous method as there was a 80% chance I would get the item on my home server vs a 20% chance with this method. Should be fine for single-account players if they can find other people on different servers that want to try and farm it.

Dedicated Hopper

I was lucky enough to have a helper for about 25% of my overall kills using this method. Basically, the hopper just logs in to new servers and invites you to them, passes you lead, and starts logging in to a new hopper while you are killing. I was using 5 accounts so he needed to create a script to change the party to a raid, pass lead, and leave the party. Then I would convert to a party, kill, kick all, and wait for an invite from the dedicated hopper. Using this method I think we needed about 10 different servers in order for spawns to always be up. If there is interest I can ask him for the scripts he used and post them as well.

These can be applied to any farm really so I hope it was helpful and wish anyone else luck farming this stuff.

Edit: loot after about 75k kill https://imgur.com/a/P3AS3mM Ended up getting another destiny after about 20k more and im hanging up the towel now.

This looks great but thats alot of work haha I'm using 8 toon on one server no realm hopping or anything like that and I have 5k killsx8 I've gotten about the same amount of epics as you with 3 of them being skullflames/destiny ( I got 2 skullflames In 1 day) all I'm saying is if you have the man power and the time you can just clear and wait the 15 mins

It may sound like a lot but once you have the macros set up its actually really simple and very fast. All the power to anyone who wants to semi-afk it or get some kills for those who do remote work.

Adding to this without reading the entire post (cus I am done - got my eddy, my desties and my skullies).

I increased speed of the farm by the following:

1) use shaman looters in ghost wolf form with minor speed increase - they won't loose follow when monk cleaver uses that roll thing.

2) have loot-a-rang on all chars. (aoe loot without clicking corpses and no need to be standing on body)

3) use mouse wheel.
I would do the following.
Shamans: loot-a-rang bound to mouse wheel down. /follow monk on mouse wheel up.

Monk: loot-a-rang bound to mouse wheel down. Spin boundd to mouse wheel up.

Inviter / realm phaser: invite all bound to mouse wheel down. Log out bound to mouse wheel up.

The reason for this is that when running 5 windows in same screen with windowed mode, you can trigger spells with mousehweel, without clicking the actual window. You just need to hover the cursor over the window you wanna cast a spell in, and scroll up/down.
So for instance I could loot and follow monk by quickly just hovering mouse over the shaman windows and scroll real quick, saving clicks and time.
Also i had logout bound as mentioned so I would, while monk was spinning, just quickly move cursor to phaser window and scroll up to logout, to save the loading screen logout time, all while still spinning the monk. Using mouse wheel macros pretty much allows you to feed commands to all 5 windows in like 1.2-1.5 seconds if you have somewhat fast hands thus saving lots of time and upping the kills/hour. I don't know if am faster than others, but I would sit at around 940 kills/hour when I was alone at the spot, hopping on 14 servers or so.

Sorry if my post is a bit messy, but a lot of efficiency to be gained from my tip if you manage to make sense of it.

what's the level of the farmer if you want to farm these for 29 twinks? i see req=31 and i see req=26, there should be another level in there, i think req=28 or req=29?

Yep, item level 31 is 26 req and I'm not too entirely sure what the level req for ilvl 32 is but it is either 26 or 28( I just haven't seen an item level 32 epic yet). They drop for 26-28 looters and 32 is the highest item level we've seen so far, so no 33 (I think).

The question at hand is what's the best level for the farmer for inside/outside LBRS.

someone send me 29s discord channel link over PM please.
