How come more folks have not played on Warmane?

This is a Wrath private server that has been around 5+ years so it's very stable and dependable. Depending on the server you make toons on, you can earn points by logging in to earn gear. You can buy an instant 80 if you want. The cities are jam packed with people. It's bustling with activity. Has RDF to run dungeons.

I even got a game of 19s in the other day.

Just curious why more people have not played on this private server, compared to paying for someone's Ferrari at Blizzard.

So many have, the problem is the server continues to stay pay to win on its most popular server and is buggy af. You’ll find (like me) many have fully progressed and also twink and pvp at max level on warmane and have for years. It’s just not really worth investing that kind of time into for most these days

yeah, the twinking experience isn't the greatest since the server mostly focuses on endgame
the same could be said about blizz/live/classic tho so :Pepega:

well the game is an mmorpg, not a moba. If I didnt enjoy the process of leveling, gearing and maintaining a character I wouldnt play the game.

Feel like trying to force WoW to be something its not, even going so far as to play private servers that allow you to bypass a rather critical portion of the genre, is the copium. But to each their own.

I had a bis 10 mage twink on MoltenWoW. Spent quite a bit of money and time on him. Then they had the whole leadership hijacked and it transformed into Warmane. Never got my characters back so I gave up.

The thing about private servers is that your progress is never really safe (lawsuits, DDOS, leadership drama, etc).

but are you more safe on live where one expansion will one-up the shittiness of the last tho

Sure, but you can always focus on completionism if the exp sucks, or just give other things a chance (pve if u didn't really like it before idk) and you progression is saved for next exp when, hopefully, things change for the better COPIUM

I did not play Warmane or retail for 5 years...doing the whole life thing. I had two accounts there. Came back and saw at the login screen that my characters had no gear and no name. I thought, well someone got my pass and stole my stuff. But it turns out there just need some sort of forced rename for unmaintained characters, and once I picked names and logged in I had all my gear. Which is not bad after that amount of time in terms of withstanding external forces.

So there is some quirkiness, but no less than coming back to retail and to level and item squishes. To me, retail is unrecognizable so it isn't really playable and losing my levels (and thus a critical part of the experience) was a real kick to the neck from Blizz.

Quite true. I've been keeping up with Retail so I dont have that issue. But I understand what you mean. You can compare this to playing OSRS and going back to RS3.

Played endgame, 79 and a bit of 19 there in the past, it's a great server. If it wasn't for twinking at 20 and my guild I would've been playing on there still. And since 20 is no more I might download it again. How is twinking on there currently?

You're saying this a few days after retail 20s got nuked

Are you really replying to me? Maybe you quoted the wrong post as mine had nothing to do with what you're blabbering about

the moteldown incident sponsor's talking about happened earlier (end of january 2015), the tl;dr gist of it is they basically reset everything except donations bc they wanted to rid themselves of all the dupers from 2009-2012 or something, and a database wipe's the easiest way of doing that

you said 20s got nuked in response to someone saying progress could get taken away

I was just sarcastically asking if that meant your progress has gotten taken too.
My progress is irrelevant when I get hit for 4k by a 29.
