Veteran Level 20 Shadowlands Twink BoE Farmer's Guide/Compendium

I’m new to all of this, but always up for more gold making methods and I like farming old content.
I’m a little confused by the drop scaling though.

To be clear, if I want to be able to farm Uldaman and a few other dungeons like RDK AND have access to the best legion greens - I need two characters, a 20 for Uldaman and a 24-25 for the legion greens?

I’ll probably regret doing any of this on Blackrock…I suspect it’ll be worthless there, but I don’t really wanna transfer or divide my gold across realms.

Close! You are correct that for farming BoE rare/blue Uldaman weapons, you want a 20, but to farm Uldaman BoE armor (also rare/blue), you'll want a 22-23. For farming legion green/uncommon armor, you want 24-25.

Dungeon boes scale to level. Armor and weapons. Uldaman armor and weapons drop ilvl 25 lvl 20 for a 20.
 
Sheesh.
I don’t have time for 3 grinding twinks haha. Maybe I’ll just settle for the legion greens :)

Are you sure? I'll defer to your greater expertise, but I thought I saw blue armor BoEs dropping at req. level 18 ilvl 25, and I assumed (and this may be my error) that the blue armor would drop at req level 20, ilvl 27 for a level 22-23 character.

same thing. just like killing the foamspittle guys isnt gonna change the loot of the world drops from them just because they can drop foamspittle.
 
Please tell me, what if I have a character lvl 17, is it suitable for farming BOE for lvl 20? Do I lose a lot of characteristics when dropping things exactly lvl 17 and not 18, let's say. I hope it's not so critical

You need to be extremely specific what boe you are farming when you ask a question like this. Blindly farming for “epics” or “20 boes” is not what you want to do if you are looking for stuff 20s actually want

Blasted lands emerald encrusted chests are opened on 18 for epics, for ilvl 27 18 weapons, and possibility of looting i28 lvl 18 armor.
The reason to farm them is to try to loot the i27 boomstick or i27 hammer of northern wind.

the difference between 17 and 18 toon literally does almost nothing for epic loot, other than blasted lands and dungeon dropped vanilla epic armor. It’s not confirmed if all armor drops or just boxes at 18 will scale to ilvl 28, but there have been multiple cases where it’s happened.

You’ll get an epic out of those in 100-500 boxes average and there is over 15 epic items that can possibly drop, and only 1 armor has value, freezing band.

if you’re farming these for stuff to use yourself on your own twink due to AH supply/prices then obviously disregard the above.


Greens: i28 lvl 19 armor, looted by 24/25. i25 lvl 19 weapons/offhand/shield, looted by 22/23.

World drop Blues: i28 lvl 20 armor, looted by 22/23. Level 20 loots lvl 18, ilvl 26 armor.
i27 lvl 20 weapons/offhand/shield, looted by 20.

Dungeon specific Blues: all are i25 lvl 20, looted by 20.

World Epics: i28 lvl 20 armor,looted by 20. i27 lvl 18 weapons/shield looted by 17/18.

Specific sourceloot(Foamspittle Staff,Blackvenom Blade): all aregreen i24, blue i25, epic i26,looted by 20.

I meant naturally epics for 20lvl. I know that there are literally two / three valuable things from chests in the scorched lands. At the same time, I wanted to loot epics from classic dungeons. So I thought there would be a strong difference between the drop for lvl 17 and for lvl 18 ?

I know that there are a couple of things from the chest useful for lvl 20 twinks, but thanks for explaining that there is almost no difference between a lvl 17 twink and a lvl 18 twink

And what's with youtube? What do you think I came from YouTube? I have been on this forum for a very long time in reedonly, I accidentally saw that someone was farming with 18lvl twinks, and I already had a well-packed twink on the 17th, so I went to ask if I was losing too much because of this.
 
If anything there could be more research on level 16 toonn for classic epics. I know from classic emerald boxes they loot i26 armor. But idk the weapon ilvl. In tbc the 16s got lvl 18 i17 weap but idk if ilvl 24 or 26 armor.

16 gets better scaling in dungeons if you plan on solo farming on a geared farm toon or spam queuing dungeons on it. And the best epic weapons that are confirmed drop are tbc weapons and the classic boomstick, so you will want to farm tbc if you feel like looting a big ticket epic weapon for 20s other than the classic gun

there are some small gains for GEARING the farmer that you can get at 18. i think world drop blues go from lvl 15 ilvl 24, to lvl 18 ilvl 26. i have a level 18, i26 zom's misty hood and i26 hood of alchemical vapors. i will eventually level my twinked 17 druid to 18 to use these 2 items. there probably wont be much vanilla/tbc/wrath epic i26 lvl 18 armor that ill find and use for it, but its a possibility. legion epic armor is lvl 17, i26 so there is no gain there. theres no lvl 18 socketed greens that i know of, it goes 16/17 then 19. https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/character/us/bleeding-hollow/Epiclooterxd

tldr; 17 vs 18 is the same for epic loot, other than very rare cases where lvl 18 ilvl 28 classic epic armor from Emerald Encrusted Chest have been seen.

I have another question, as far as I understand, epics in tbk are also very good. it turns out and I can loot them with my 17 lvl twink and not worry that they will be worse than for the 18th twink, right, I understand?

I will not dress my twink in those things that I get in the drop, they will be needed for transfer to other twinks. especially weapons
