Adamantite Battlegear set for Fury Warrior/Frost DK

Just wanted to show off a cool three piece set for these two classes (though any class can wear them and benefit, but the benefit shines most on dual-wielding classes)

The adamantite battlegear is a three piece blacksmith set from TBC with full sockets, and above average strength and stam. The SET bonus (which is NOT legacy mind you!) gives +1-2 weapon damage (depends if the the tooltip is correct or not)

You can craft this set with Relics of the Past, and since they are gemmed (six prismatic slots between them) you don't lose TOO much. However, between the +3 attack power and the +1 weapon damage, you do actually gain a LOT of white damage particularly for dual-wielders.

I need to test at some point using this set with daggers to see if it's effective, but it's for sures an option!

The entire set (save for the socket/set bonuses) would be 11 strength and 14 stamina, vs average at lvl20 items giving you 15 strength and 22 stamina

The set itself will probably get downscaled because of the relic to +1 weapon damage and attack power socket bonuses at our level we can probably just read as +1 strength

You are trading away 1 strength and 8 stamina (and potential socket bonuses on "regular" items) for +1 weapon damage

I dont play DPS much but I am not sure if I'd subscribe into trading 8 stam for 1 weapon damage

Yea stam is important for sure, guess depends on the Dps Class and if you got a pocket healer for you to go Zug Zug.

Well weapon damage is by far the biggest dps increase. As Prot it increases my damage and healing. Many Dps will seek out slower weapon speed items like https://www.wowhead.com/item=156998/cudgel-of-naralex even though it's lower level (24) the weapon damage makes it do more damage than higher level weapons. Since many abilities are based on weapon damage not Dps.

It's why we use Dense stones with +weapon damage as it's the biggest increase as well. If it's only +1 weapon damage then yea maybe it's not worth it but with that said if you want to Zug Zug. Then yea +1 weapon damage is worth it. Especially if you have a blue/epic Cudgel and are going that route.

I'm not suggesting for someone to use this set, just offering a statistical opinion on why you might want to.

+2 weapon damage is functionally the same as ~4.6 main hand attack power for 1H users, ~3.3 attack power for 2H users. If it's only scaling to +1 weapon damage, then halve that. No way it's worth using over standard TBC blues, but it's certainly not the worst gear you could equip because sockets go brrrrr.

I'd also mention you are getting +1 attack power as socket bonus on each piece, which adds up to trading ~8 stam for ~6-8 strength in damage (depending on weapon choice)

It's also a great idea to wear while you are grinding said TBC dungeon drops because some of them... oof and this is a craftable set with easy to find recipies.

No, I considered the socket bonuses. You are looking at 12 or 13 total strength/AP from the set, depending on whether the socket bonus from the bracers works. I question this because I'm fairly sure that every item with only 1 socket is bugged to not give its socket bonus. Compare that to 15 from the standard ilvl 25 fare, and you are starting at a deficit of minus 2 or 3 (and it's probably 3). With the weapon damage (if THAT works properly), you best case come out about 1.6 AP ahead, in exchange for the stamina and all of the secondaries on those 3 pieces of gear.

Both https://www.wowhead.com/item=29337/the-exarchs-protector?bonus=6710&ilvl=25 and https://www.wowhead.com/item=28167/shatari-wrought-armguards?bonus=6710&ilvl=25 are quest rewards you don't have to farm for and I don't think I've ever heard anyone complain about either https://www.wowhead.com/item=25942/faith-bearers-gauntlets?bonus=6710&ilvl=25 or https://www.wowhead.com/item=24387/ironblade-gauntlets?bonus=6710&ilvl=25 being difficult to get as they both drop from the first boss of their respective dungeons.
