If you see someone with a * next to their link it means they have Grandfathered Gear that is no longer obtainable.
Free 2 Play characters are going to be highlighted green.

Examples of Grandfathered Gear

• i44 Valentines Day Necks
• Garrosh Heirloom Weapons
  • If you have access to these they are likely BiS however the heirlooms are no longer able to be obtained unless you obtained them back in MoP
• HoA i59 pieces
• Classic i28 Epics (Destiny and Boomstick)
• Soultwisting Staff
• Artifact Weapons (these act like normal heirlooms now ignoring the relic slot but some individuals have GF'd enchants because for a time they were above 50 ilvl)

TBC Socket gear can be achieved through chromie time and queueing for specific dungeons, here's a huge compendium of gear you can get (not only TBC stuff):
