Cross-region F2P (A linked yet real F2P)

As you know, there are different Account types in WoW, Cignus made a Youtube video explaining it last week.
Here is a Reminder:
  • Subscriber
Typical WoW player, paying a monthly subscription.
  • Veteran Account
You let your subscription run out. You are now limited to playing your characters up to lvl 20.
  • Free Trial Account (linked)
A Free Trial Account you create via your Battlenet web page. You can now choose between your usual account and this one from the BNet Application when you launch WoW. It shares your Achievements, Collections...
  • Free Trial Account (pure)
A Free Trial Account you create via a Battlenet account that never had any WoW Account associated to it. It is a blank page.

But what few people seem to know is that you can actually link a F2P account to your BNet and still make it a real F2P, if you select a different Region.
Open a Battlenet Web Page and scroll down to "Create a Free Trial Account" and select a different Region.

You can now start your adventure as a pure* Free Trial Account that you launch from the same BNet you normally use to play as a Sub or a Vet.
Here is a picture of the Accounts I can choose from when I launch BNet.

*Note you will still get a few Mounts and Battle Pets unlocked, these are linked to your BNet and not to your WoW Account. Hearthstone Mounts for example.

learn something new everyday :)

It's not a pure if it's linked that's literally the only difference between a pure and a linked :NotLikeThis:

this is the whole reason people note the difference between linked and not-linked F2P though...
True.
I checked and have 2 Mounts (hearthsteed and Sarge's Tale) and 3 pets (Mr.Chilly, Daisy, Core Hound Pup). Can we just call these Grandfathered ;)
Anyway, you still get to start from scratch, 0 honor, 0 achievement etc. Which is the point if you want to experience F2P conditions as someone who already knows the game.

So are pure f2p completely restricted to BfA in the dungeon finder? Like.... forever? Keep searching for info but not finding any recent stuff. Not exactly on topic but not gonna start a new thread for something if it's common knowledge to everyone else.

So either way you need a subbed account of some sort to utilize any dungeon other than freehold/atal... even just for party invitation/creation. See no point in even party-ing up, might as well just get run by a 60 then. Cant stay "pure" unless you solo everything then, in my mind, cuz wtf is the difference? Just grinding enchants and gems yourself, big deal.

Kind of sucks.

Ah well, I'm over it. Still good for those that enjoy. ;)

edit- not gonna quit, maybe things wil change in the future.... they always do.

Yeah, i get that but you cant party for those unless invited by/with a regular account.... not my concept of how it was going to be, my fault, no biggie. I'll keep doing my thing, if I'm gonna gear that way i might as well just use my vet toons.

I liked the idea of not being "able" to just get run by simply only using LFG. Sure you can pose that restriction on yourself, but if you actually want to get sockets and such now, that's just masochism for masochism sake. /shrug

LFG is just random peeps, not unified mindset grouping for a specific end. I can always just invite myself from my main account and speed everything up the same way, see almost no difference than partying and walking in - still getting "run" just by a few your own level instead of one high level.

Not crapping on f2play at all, or anyone that gets gear like that. Just not what I planned, or imagined rather.

Mine is a hunter anyway cuz I knew i'd have to solo some stuff.... didnt know it was the first 14 years of the game. Not a PvP toon so I dont need to worry about most of that stuff anyway. ;)

The main difference being how difficult it might be to get a single group of strangers together to run TBC content, using only /say chat (no trade or general chat) and only people who are a certain level range (i think it was 20?) to you can hear you. Anyone above that level range will never read your messages.

Being run by your own high level toon is, during the actual dungeon, just as easy. But getting that group is the hard part :( good luck!

Avoiding that was the whole reason they introduced the dungeon finder tool. If I'm going to go though all that trouble to interact with someone on an active account, might as well be me for no trouble at all. Even just my lowbie vets. It's fine your way too.

Just defeats my purpose, so I'll see what I can do without it. Other than the BfA ones, as fast as LFG runs those it's like cheating anyway, lol. ;) Plus there's a few quest rewards that'll do for sockets... as long as i'm not PvPing it's irrelevant. Might PvP for the gems, tho, might not. See how long it keeps me interested.
