I have never play pvp with rogue as a twink, only had experience with rogue at late cataclysm period. I made a level20 rogue, but really dont know where to move with specs, stats, etc.
Mostly playing random bgs solo or in small 2-3 ppl group.
My profs are engi/alchemy. I have access to any stuffs for a couple of days so I wanna stack as many things as I can :)
I couldnt find any good guide here from rogues (sorry if there are any here).
I like sub spec, but which is the best build recently. I know there are meta classes, but would be good to hide into the shadow for a while :D
Please discuss this with some worthly advice. (build, stat, profs, gear, consums, etc).

Assass is best, outlaw gets to use non dagger weapons though which makes for better mogs.

Just avoid mastery seems to be the concensus among assass rogues. I havent heard of anyone playing sub.

So sub is total crap :)

Weapon enchant for assas? I see 2 different way:
1 dmg+dancingsteel
2 2x eleforce
Haste works nice with eleforce, dancingsteel is the same?

Is shadowmoon "vanishing" ring is a must have?

Ele force for assass, dmg + Steel or savgery for outlaw. Ele force scales best with vers afaik.

You dont have to use it all the time but itd be pretty crazy to not have it available.

the best advice for the current state of rogues is to get over the idea that you're there to do damage. You're a CC bot that can, occasionally, do some dmg. You're there to sap, cheap and kidney people while someone else does the killing.

Understand this now so you dont come back in 3 weeks talking about how rogues suck because you cant one-shot people with ambush

Yeah, thats okay.
i dont want to perform as top dmger or killer in bgs. I want to act that way what you wrote.
Some sapping, healer disturbing, base assault when there is no huge defence.

i think its possible to do pretty good damage. not just sap cheap kidney. ofc its very very very rare to see a great rogue nowadays so most think all they can do is "cc bot" but they do exist. a rare breed indeed. i've considered getting back into playing rogue but the thought of making another competently geared 20 makes me want to throw up

Hes not saying rogues cant do damage, hes saying its not the point of them. A 5 second kidney is worth more than a 5 point envenom. Stack 2 agi 2 stam gems and be as annoying as possible and leave the damage to the classes that have damage and no ability to be the cc beast a good rogue can be.

yes it is obvious dmg is not the point of them

they just have a lot more dmg potential than some would have you believe. this has always been the case i'm just simply putting it out there for more current exposure due to so many around here constantly downplaying their dmg potential

you say a 5 second kidney is worth more than a 5 point envenom? i say it is highly situational. if the rogue 5 second kidneys a priority target when a 5 point envenom would have secured the kill, was it worth more? when you get into proper gcd and energy management you see that a great rogue can not only be a playmaker with the cc, but a clinical finisher as well

you're a fool, i would run circles around you

Envenom is not available at 20

I've been messing around with a 20 rogue too, @Vasquez, and I think it feels like the most-limited class I've tried at this level. Whereas hunter seems to have virtually its entire toolkit, level 20 rogue damage gameplay is a lot of spamming one builder and then one spender...

So far I've been stacking haste and versatility and running around Kul Tiras killing all the rares with dagger drops hoping for two socketed daggers (so far I've got one and I think I'm out of rares). I'm positive there are more knowledgeable players than me on here who will have better strategies though.

What race is your rogue? I rolled a Kul Tiran because I'm on a vet account but others might be better—that gnome snare-clear looks nice.

Dagger from last boss of Atal'Dazar can proc a socket

Nelf is super OP, not only you have acces to stealth abilities directly from shadowmeld, you can also annoy people opening with stun, applying dots or just generate combo, and as soon as stun is about to end you shadowmeld+instant stealth, watch them bleed out hopelessly and open on them again, this time having more combos

Btw Alterac valley epic daggers are good alternatives for starting?

Used to be able to, back in the Lich days. Was OP AF.

The Korrak's vendor epic daggs, I tested, and others have said, don't proc enough for me to run em.
There are better options. The BoA Garrosh gear with 2 gem slots prob BiS, if you have em that is.

Muts mastery doesnt apply to bleeds until a higher level, so they only get half of thier actually mastery unlike other classes/specs, it does buff envenom damage but that and deadly poison are it at 20. You are 100% better running vers haste for sure.

Has someone information about lvl27 rare daggers (5-9dmg 4crit+3vers) and the socket procced Soulrenders fang difference?
https://www.wowhead.com/item=118784/sliver-of-nathe?bonus=6659
They seem pretty close, considering the +3 agi is likely as impactful as the extra 1 dmg on the 27 dagger. Not to mention they can proc speed or leech as well.
That being said, it seems much easier to obtain 2x Souldrender's Fang than farming 2 of these. Never seen anyone with that so far.
The crit vs haste doesn't matter as rogues need both so you can always balance it out with other items or gems.

Thanks, I counted some things and overall thought the same.
