Weapon Enchant Off-Hand

Hello, I have a level 10 BM monk and I'm trying to find some new weapons since Bramble was nerfed. I farmed two weapons with sockets (two 1h swords and 2 fist weps) but noticed when putting enchants on my off-hand they do not proc....at all. Tried Lifesteal, Fiery, Crusader (for fun), and Elemental Force. EF does work but the others proc chance is 0% it seems. Is this normal?

@Hashbrowns
Ended up fighting a dummy for about 30 mins with different enchants on the off-hand. They did end up procing just at a terrible rate. Lifesteal + Crane Kick (Pve) seems to be monks bread and butter but the offhand Lifesteal is basically none existent. In my testing anyways it seems 2H weps are better. Lifesteal on both 1h vs a single 2h wep, the 2h wep procced twice as often doing twice as much dmg and healing overall. Was hoping two 1H was going to be a cool new thing but doesn't seem to be the case for me. AOE and ST with my Bramble is better than my two 1H with sockets.
Back to the drawing board for finding a new weapon :( Jealous of anyone with the Hellscream stuff hahah

I would think lifesteal should be some what similar between 1her MH and 2her but maybe wep speed is playing a factor, like Crusader. That might be why you are seeing a difference. OH has a 24% miss chance (and 50% less damage) which is why the procs are so low. It's usually treated as a stat stick so a pure agility chant would work well. EF I believe procs of damage not necessarily the wep swing, so you MH might be able to proc your OH EF chant. Might be tough to test tho. I believe the old glitch that let you apply EF to your shield works this way. You could also test with rogue and poisons if BM doesn't have a dot; put EF to your OH, apply your poison and don't melee and see if it procs.

Just tested it out with a rogue and yes EF does proc off any of my poisons. Dotted up 4 dummies, turned around facing away from them and EF was proccing pretty good. That was very interesting to see. Since typically I'm using Spinning Crane Kick with my monk I just did a test. I hit 4 dummies for a total of 1600 hits. The 2H with Lifesteal hit 533 times and the two 1H with both Lifesteal hit 309 times. Overall the damage difference was about 10k between the two. I was scared my stuff wasn't working correctly but it seems to be as intended sadly. Thank-you for helping. :)

If an effect is proc on weapon hit, it is tied to the specific weapon that carries the effect, and only procs on hits from that weapon. For monks, this generally means that off hand weapon effects only have a chance to proc on auto attacks as their melee abilities are all considered main hand hits AFAIK. This is what I observed when I tested https://www.wowhead.com/item=28311/revenger?bonus=6710&ilvl=25 a while back.

Elemental force is different because it procs on any ability hits not just weapon hits (i.e. it works for casters, on DoTs), so you get the full effect even if it's in the off hand.

There is also the issue of the PPM vs RPPM systems. Stuff like Crusader, Lifesteal, https://www.wowhead.com/item=28311/revenger?bonus=6710&ilvl=25 are on the PPM system, which means that they have a fixed proc rate on each hit with the weapon based on the weapon's attack speed. Slower weapon = higher proc rate. This makes them proc more on 2H weapons or stuff like https://www.wowhead.com/item=156998/cudgel-of-naralex?bonus=3631&ilvl=24 or https://www.wowhead.com/item=156999/mokmorokks-headcracker?bonus=6691&ilvl=25. EF, on the other hand is RPPM, which means that there is some fancy math going on behind the scenes that basically tries to normalize the number of procs per minute no matter the number of hits you deal. So again, it doesn't matter which weapon it's on.

I'd recommend trying Lifesteal on Mok's Headcracker or Cudgel in the main hand + EF or agility in the off hand. That should proc lifesteal just as often as on a 2H, plus you get to have EF/Agility in addition.

@mirrorbender Ah, that makes a lot of sense. Very good to know. That makes things a whole lot more fun. Thank-you very much for clarifying that. I was at a bit of a loss with it. I will probably put EF on the OF. Could only imagine it would be better than any agility enchant I can get at my level. Also just realized that Mok'Morokk's Headcracker is a minimum level 15 weapon :(

What about dancing steel or superior potency for OH? Lifestealing seems to be great option for MH.
And for 2h I suppose mighty agility is the way to go or..?

EDIT: just figured out this thread was for lvl 10. I was talking about lvl29 tho.
