19 2v2 Arena Tournament Summer 2021 (Classic TBC)

ALL MUST COME SUMMER 2021 2V2 TOURNAMENT
It's time to lace up and get our first 2v2 arena tournament of Classic TBC rolling! This has been a long time coming and I'm sure many of you are itching to flex in some loosely formal games these days. I've taken it upon myself to organize a 2v2 tournament for us to get it going.

My name is Rugs and I'm fairly new to the classic WoW twinking scene, but I've been a vet of WoW for many many years. I used to take place in these tournaments back in the old days of TBC/Wrath and they were always the highlights of my WoW career. It's my honor to share this with you all! If you care to know more about me you can always DM me at Rugs#6239 on Discord or catch me on Twitch at twitch.tv/rugsz.

This tournament will take place all in one night. Saturday July 24th starting at 9:00pm EST and ending when the best team has claimed victory (ETA 11:00-11:30pm).

PRIZES? Right now we're running this tournament on a budget. We currently have a donation of 200g on the line for the winning team and I'm still collecting any donations to sweeten the pot further.

The way it works is simple--you'll have your matchup assigned by our bracket and your teams will have a certain amount of time to queue and complete your match. Results will be reported back to me at which point your team will receive info on your next matchup. The first round will have a time limit for queues, but after that we will blast until the finals.

The format of this tournament will depend on the amount of applicants we receive. Ideally I'd like to run a single elimination tournament of somewhere around 8-16 teams. If you'd like to sign up as a free agent and be assigned a partner then you're more than welcome to, however I cannot make any promises that we can fill you with a partner or promise a spot in the tournament.

Tournament rules:
  • No rules against gear, bandages, Naxx enchants, grandfathered items, or anything of the like. If you can equip it and use it in an arena then it’s fair game.
  • No rules against comps.
  • There will be NO subs. You sign up with 2 people only and if one of your players is unable to play/finish then you must forfeit your match.
  • You are allowed to partner with someone on a different server.
  • You can only sign up on one twink. You cannot have multiple entries just because you have multiple twinks.
  • “PICS OR IT DIDN’T HAPPEN” - you must provide a screenshot of your match or it’s assumed it never happened. The only exception is when both teams can confirm the outcome (admission of defeat from losing team). Even better than pics is a twitch clip ✅
  • From current classic TBC arena experience there doesn’t seem to be a 45min limit on arenas which means arenas will last as long as they last. If for some reason a game expires at 45mins then you’ll need to remake and go again until a winner is decided.
  • You’re not allowed to ding 20 and then enter your arena match. (As if this was even remotely worth it. Just don’t do it.)

Great idea.
Hope I could have my char done!

Will you stream or upload to youtube? Would be great :D

Nobody is fightin this because it's not enough time for nerds who have mains to have both their main and twinkers done.

Good swing and a miss.

Good swing and a miss.

Lots of people had there twinks done in classic the only things TBC you really needed is a couple of stat changed pieces and TBC boot / pant enchants?

Wanted to give this thread one last bump before tomorrow's tournament. At this point we basically only have room for 1 more team! Sign up if you're on the fence about it & tune in tomorrow night for the show!

Will there be clips or uploads to YouTube for us EU fellows who will be sleeping while you battle it out?
Would be great.

gl&hf to all teams!

Working on the details of all of this right now actually. I'll be streaming the entire event from my spectator & host PoV. Also I know a couple of the players will most likely have their own streams turned on. Should be some decent vods after for you.

Ty to Rugs for hosting, the whole thing ran super smoothly. and ty to all the twinks who showed up to play!

Hey folks! One last reply to wrap things up.

Another final congrats to our winners Plants & Walle! Full results of the bracket can be found here.
And for those who were asking for a vod of the tournament, you can find it here.

Things weren't perfect, but they honestly weren't all that bad! I learned a lot from hosting this tournament and I think there's good potential for even better events in the future. Competition, prizes, production quality, and organization can only go up from here.
