Anyone know a good resource for pets on a 29 hunter in TBC?
Do all the pets have the same attack speed now?
What are the ideal pets, boar? are the ravagers deece?

Anything changed from Vanilla?
Can you level them to 29?

First off, the classic tbc wow petopia is awesome for this stuff, and the source of most specifics - https://www.wow-petopia.com/classic_bc/

Pets do all have the same attack speed now. Boars are still generally the go to (charge is good and fun to play with, they don't have the downside of slow attack speed anymore, gore is a nice addition for damage). Wind Serpents have an argument too due to improved pet scaling from your stats and the benefits of a ranged magic attack. A couple other types have niche uses, but it's harder to justify with the difficulty of leveling extra pets now.

You do still have to tame other pets for certain abilities. (list of abilities)

The biggest change from vanilla is experience. The XP from quests classified as level 30+ was increased, and the XP to level was decreased. In vanilla, you could get 3 level 29 pets with high enough loyalty without sacrificing any quest rewards. Now the Nesingwary quests take up all of level 28 and the level 28 boars in RFD were reduced to level 26. You can (and should) absolutely get one level 29 pet.

For planning purposes, here's the updated quest reward XP sheet for TBC - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...jpMT8E8b5jUci3Rp6r3NZLtp0/edit#gid=1854333165

And we discovered late in vanilla classic that you can save XP leveling pets by killing lower level mobs (ty to @Skeezin for the help there) . This sheet has the amount you can save: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1u7e2SrmGVT6HBmVxE-BBIXhmm-BxugtwNT5_Vzz7o2Q/edit#gid=65959718

It's kinda complicated and a pain to plan, but figuring things out ahead of time definitely helps a lot. I'm not on here a ton these days, but I'll stick around and keep an eye on this thread if you have any more questions or need/want some extra help. Can always hit me up on discord too (classic twinking discord or Swoops#0657)

Twink? Hunter? Pet? --- draenei start zone Ravager. As far as i know and remember. It stuns and does good dps. (Played tbc when it was expansion)

This is untrue. I feel like this was a thing at some point, but I can't remember when.

Sadly pets are probably least interesting in TBC. They fixed the unintended stuff in vanilla (like attack speeds) that made them interesting and didn't really add much. It's basically boar or wind serpent. They did add gore in TBC which is kind of similar to claw... which is good because, you know, boars needed a leg up on their competition.

The ravager does not stun, but it's ability is higher dmg than other pets for it's level, and this continues on to 70.
Boar still wins in pvp because of the stun, while the damage from all pets is comparable enough to not focus on dmg.
As for the wind serpent mention, I've found while below 70 that the boar's charge overcomes the need for a range on pet. Wind serpent really shines in pve when you're able to eat shaman's stormstrikes, but that's the niche

So how much loyalty (or is it happiness?) do I need to have in order to learn all the abilities I will need? Also is it better then to tame a pet earlier in order to build that loyalty etc

Swoops in this post says loyalty level 5 for boar but that’s vanilla. You also have to learn gore so I’m not sure. But more than likely loyalty level 5 will still be enough because they tend give you plenty of extra points for levels 5 and 6.

As for the other question (which probably makes the loyalty question irrelevant) the highest level boar you can tame is 26, so you'll more than likely have loyalty level 6 anyways. Loyalty was more of a concern in vanilla since the RFK boar was level 28.

Doesn't look like I will have enough XP to get my boar to 29, doesn't look to be mathematically possible (unless I have missed something). But I could probably get a rank 5 29 windserpent, which one you think would be better a lvl 28 boar or 29 serpent?

Edit: I was wrong it is possible, I was looking at those Vanilla numbers. Got a boar to 29 from 27 killing level 23s in Hillsbrad. Boar was getting 120xp per kill 27 to 28 then 103xp per kill 28 to 29.
