Things to look forward to TBC

Many people seem to be unsure why some twinks are hyped for TBC. I'll try to break it down to you

1. Leg armor. You will be able to enchant your legs with some Leatherworker / Tailoring items called

2. Improved gear. It's almost as if a developer got into twinking in vanilla and started upgrading tons of stuff !

3. No rep requirements for WSG / AB vendors!

You no longer have to do some painful AB grind to revered to get your boots to finally be considered as BiS - https://classic.wowhead.com/item=20188/defilers-leather-boots rep requirement will be gone and will instead cost around 20 AB tokens and honor https://tbc.wowhead.com/item=20188/defilers-leather-boots

So stack up WSG and AB tokens if you still need items from the vendors!

4. New scalings on items that also scales with level ! Things won't have a percentage stats anymore, but will give rating and the rating seems to scale by level

https://tbc.wowhead.com/item=19024/arena-grand-master

Meadow Ring of Eluding

and naxx enchants e.g. https://tbc.wowhead.com/item=23548/might-of-the-scourge

https://tbc.wowhead.com/spell=25086/enchant-cloak-dodge

5. New enchants! Items above lvl 35 item level/requirement may get enchants that are BiS for lvl 70 !

Imagine getting https://tbc.wowhead.com/spell=34008/enchant-boots-boars-speed on your lvl 19s https://tbc.wowhead.com/item=19969/nat-pagles-extreme-anglin-boots

29s will have certain items like:
https://tbc.wowhead.com/item=2044/crescent-of-forlorn-spirits
https://tbc.wowhead.com/item=17039/skullbreaker
https://tbc.wowhead.com/item=2000/archeus/

New weapon enchants are
https://tbc.wowhead.com/spell=27984/enchant-weapon-mongoose
https://tbc.wowhead.com/spell=34010/enchant-weapon-major-healing
https://tbc.wowhead.com/spell=27968/enchant-weapon-major-intellect

https://tbc.wowhead.com/spell=27971/enchant-2h-weapon-savagery
https://tbc.wowhead.com/spell=27977/enchant-2h-weapon-major-agility

6. Faster WSG's !

The flag carriers will start getting the debuff https://tbc.wowhead.com/spell=46392/focused-assault if they carry the flag for "too long." So it shouldn't be 1 hr BG's anymore

Plus mounts from lvl 30 https://tbc.wowhead.com/item=8631/reins-of-the-striped-frostsaber will speed things up in 39s as well.

_________________________________

7. Daily quests on mains!

If you have a level 70 character with a flying mount then it should be easy to fund yourself new twink items and enchants by doing daily quests. I think you can do maximum of 25 per day and you get like 15g per quest. Quite sure you can team up with others as well to complete them faster

_______________________________

8. Talent and racial changes

Only orc stun resist gets nerfed, other than that most racials gets buffed or unchanged.

Some talents changes tier row. E.g. hunters gets incredibly good talents in the early tiers of the talent tree. Frost mages will get https://tbc.wowhead.com/spell=12472/icy-veins , https://tbc.wowhead.com/spell=19434/aimed-shot will get healing reduce etc

___________________

9. The PvP trinkets will now clear everything instead of some specific things for certain classes.

E.g. https://classic.wowhead.com/item=18849/insignia-of-the-horde --> https://tbc.wowhead.com/item=18849/insignia-of-the-horde

https://classic.wowhead.com/item=18846/insignia-of-the-horde --> https://tbc.wowhead.com/item=18846/insignia-of-the-horde

Downside?

Slightly changed WSG map. Biggest change is that Horde top of tunnel jump is fucked

unknown.png

and you can no longer jump up there from the ground

Also, the leg armors are so powerful so pretty much everyone who applies the enchants will become a decent twink despite being close to BiS or not

Wasn’t mounts in bgs a negative some week ago?

That's for another discussion, but yes, that's true. I still do not like it. It removes the charm of twinking.

One of the reasons why rogues are OP in 19s is because they have https://tbc.wowhead.com/spell=2983/sprint.

One of the reasons why hunters are OP in 29s is because.... they're hunters xD ..but also because they have https://tbc.wowhead.com/spell=5118/aspect-of-the-cheetah

I don't play horde, but I doubt any lvl 60 shaman even use https://tbc.wowhead.com/spell=2645/ghost-wolf as a rotation or strategic point in combat. It's just there for RP purposes and it's such a shame. I remember as a kid, I literally rerolled to shaman for a bit after I people using Ghost Wolf in the barrens. In 29s and 39s it's actually OP combined with https://tbc.wowhead.com/spell=8056/frost-shock. I really like when you make full use of abilities

And I REALLY, REALLY despised when they made mounts to lvl 20 in WotLK + giving cheetah and travel form sub lvl 20. Mid wotlk is where WoW went downhill imo

Now for 39s, druids shows their full potential once they get https://tbc.wowhead.com/spell=783/travel-form. I think it looked supercool as a kid when a travel form cat transformed into a huge tauren male with a huge staff with the cool +81 healing enchant. They were extremely OP and looked really well too. But clearly they won't be as OP anymore. https://tbc.wowhead.com/spell=46392/focused-assault also puts limitations of your speed and pretty much disables your entire fucking https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=1850/dash and travel form speed. Plus, as I said, everyone will outrun you in mid when attempting to cross the battleground.

Thanks for this thread. I did not know focused assault was part of TBC. That and the character boost is what I am more most looking forward to. Also lvl 30 mounts, I like the speed of wsg and ab with 40% mounts.

I hope focused assault is what gets everyone to play TBC instead of a split with vanilla for bgs. Does anyone not like focused assault? It makes sense, that huge wood flag pole would be tiring to run around with.

FYI since people will ask, this is from Wowhead for TBC:

When both flags are held, the following debuffs are applied to the flag carriers;

+50% increased damage done to them after 10 minutes, and limits their movement speed (can not go above 100% movement speed)
Focused Assault

+100% increased damage done to them after 15 minutes, and limits their movement speed (can not go above 100% movement speed)
Brutal Assault

These debuffs remain until the flags are returned, meaning if you drop the flag and someone else picks it up they will have the debuff as well.

Can you do the jump from ground to ToT on the other side of the tunnel?

Really don't like the flag carry debuffs, the more I think about it, the less excited I am for TBC twinking. In practice it means a skilled FC will be killed by lesser players. Should have to earn your caps in the gulch. If that means enduring 2 hour turtles sometimes, so be it.

As I recall from back in the day, the flag debuff was a godsend. It didn't kick in for 10 whole minutes... that's a long time, long enough for at least 2 failed pushes by offense. And if you're FC isn't counting on speed boosts they aren't really that much more vulnerable because the enemies still have to get by your defense and get to the FC.

When it did kick in, it made you feel the pressure, kept you on your toes and actually made the matches more exciting : ) Surviving fights with even the 50% debuff felt way more badass!! And let's face it, most of the time it kicked in when the fights were already a bit of a slog, and you still can have it happen 3 times meaning a 40 or even 60 minute match is still viable, you just won't see many 2 hour games.

it is harder from what i understand from @Xyth 's video

I agree, I feel bad for those who enjoys being a flag carrier twink. But I remember BG's still continuing for hours despite the debuff in TBC. Rather that limitation than WotLK's 25 min maximum limitation

There was a time arcane mage became a crazy good fc at 39. I dont remember what patch in tbc it was. Maybe druidroid can chime in if he finds this.

I think its worth noting the effects of this change are going to be different on wargames vs pugs. For pugs I see this change as particularly negative. I think there will be a marked increase in the likelihood of heavy turtling, particularly if it favors your team comp (ie: imagine the enemy team has no hunters and you have 3 rogues, just turtle 7 and wait for debuff). I think the change also encourages safespotting by druids since they can no longer effectively kite. The realities of capped movements speed for FC, now undispelable free action potions, and increased damage encourages static defense, not kiting for a druid. Hilariously, while horde tot is gutted in TBC, you can still go underneath horde base or sit portal/hills behind portal in alliance base. For wargames I think the addition of mounts + the addition of debuff encourages only doing O/D splits when you have the advantage or when its neutral. For example, if the enemy team gets a faster O push than you, your offense comes back and wipes them until you either get an even O push or secure an advantage. This artificially slows the game down and when teams did this frequently in classic, people would get very upset.

Safespotting is exploiting, and is cheating. Only a small percent of players are even ok with playing that way and it is bannable (from what I understand.) People kind of consider the TOT fair game due to common usage.

In my opinion most pugs aren't patient enough to wait 7 minutes to turtle because it favors them. Much less do it 3 times to secure all 3 flags.

I play at level 19 and from my experience even back in TBC and Wrath, staying in one place rarely worked out well unless you had a particularly competent defense team. Thankfully at level 19 there are no mounts : ) If people want to play tactically to ensure their push has the best odds of success, more power to them, the game works best when people use strategy and coordinate on things!

I think things are going to be good in TBC, but not radically different at least in my bracket : )

We'll have to disagree here. Too often skilled FCs hold games hostage for hours if their team can not secure a return. This at least does something to combat turtles. If a team wants to grief with a 10 man banana turtle then they will have to keep the enemy from connecting at all. I look forward to this change and the 3 second delay on flag drop repick change. No more iceblock/divine shield into immediate repick, now it comes with more risk.

"Enduring two hour turtles" is stupid.

You can still hold games hostage by simply not grabbing the flag and not letting the enemy get any caps. So essentially farming them. Also I suppose you can drop the flag as your team returns so that you can get a fresh pick, resetting the debuff timer.

p much 39 arcane mage fc was great at this time in TBC. Whenever mana shield blocked both physical and magic damage. It was up until mana shield became a higher level ability than level 39 which then killed arcane fc. Also 29 arcane mage fc is pretty good too

Multi hour games are quite rare and typically only last that long if there's safespotting involved which this change does nothing to combat and arguably incentivizes by making cycling/kiting more difficult. Different strokes I guess, for me if the druid is outplaying your team, you don't deserve the cap. But Blizz never viewed WSG as an end game in itself anyway, just a 20-30 minute minigame.

Sadly only level 70s can use 2 minute trinket. The rest of us are stuck with 5 minutes. The 12 second CC cap will be wonderful in place of being chain poly and sapped for 1 minute+ in vanilla. No more poly > drink mage duel resetting. Or sitting a full duration rocket helm that makes you want to log off.

I'll love auto dismount in place of using macros or an addon. Felt so weird coming from retail to classic vanilla and hitting keys expecting it to dismount. Sometimes even forgot about water dismount but that one sticks in the memory better.

Pretty much all the changes are happening on the pre-patch in 18th May for NA, 19th for EU

1. Your EXP bar will take a big hit and be reduced drastically. Bad thing for twinks! Download PTR and copy your char right now to check what your exp bar will be at.

2. All the item changes will be done. Hype!
