Talasite farming

Two raids that are even better:

Magtheridon's Lair - the only boss drops a bag with gems, these can be talasites
Sunwell Plateau - trash mobs drop gems directly, these can be talasites

I got many more talasites (and gems in general, but gems in general are kind of not needed because you can buy analogs - with some exceptions - for marks of honor) out of these two than out of Hyjal.

Also: veins in Hyjal don't seem to respawn at all. Initially I thought they might. No luck.
 
Mind you don't have to do hyal all the way down, first two bosses are insanely fast since you just spawn kill the waves, and you get 4 or 5 veins before the horde camp. It literally takes longer to go to jaina and back to start the encounters than to kill bosses
Only reason to do the horde base spawn is if you want some of the mogs, but I would not (and did not) bother for the veins alone

In all my Sunwell Plateau runs, I've only gotten epic gems, not rare ones, so even if they drop, it's not worth the effort.
 
It basically comes down to whether you want to do a lot of work in a short period of time, or whether you want to do very little work over a long period of time. There's no *one weird trick* to talasite farming.
 
It’s particularly easy to find them on the AH if you don’t play on a realm where at least one person survives on them like oxygen and/or sells them for current gem prices

Tbh not as soul crushing as northrend gems. At least I don't have to drop multiple professions xd
 
If you are killing Ogres in Nagrand be sure and get those war beads off them, turn them into the Consortium in Nagrand. The Consortium gives you an envelope ( membership benefits package ) that have gems in it, the higher your rep. with them the more and better gems you'll get from the package. You may collect the membership benefits package monthly !

If you are a vet , don't invest the 21 dollars in pizza like @Chops but a WoW token and buy the stones in the AH ... the token will probably be worth around 200k gold or a little bit more and you will get stones for at least 2 or 3 twinks on a busy server. On Draenor, the stones cost 5k gold each. A win-win situation. You have the stones without stress and wasting time and you won't get fat with 3 giant pizzas ... ;-)

Just out of nowhere, different continents and you just sandbag him. I didnt see it coming.
 
Right now I'm doin p much all these since I need about 30 gems for a dumb stam stacked rogue build.

I wish I lived on a more think friendly realm.

I apologize in advance for bringing something somewhat off-topic. But what is the best caster gem(s) and where/how do I obtain it? Been searching left and right in the forum and my air-head isnt helping.
