Resto Shaman Thoughts?

Quit it, you two. Back to discussion about my favorite class and spec, and about what works in which context and how to approach them!
I think the base issue here goes back to our years long discussion about scoreboard design and how blizzard could improve your average levelers play by just redesigning the scoreboard to highlight different metrics.

If all you're looking at is total healing output, you might be inclined to believe Rsham is in a rough spot. Especially if you're comparing it to its relative position in BFA as one of the bracket kings when it possessed all its utility AND topped healing (and often dmg) meters. Thing is, Rsham hasnt gotten worse really, its just a lot of other healers got significantly better and so *relative* to other healers, it feels like it diminished.

It's an incredible healer, owing not so much to total output so much as its mobility, counter mobility, "oh shit" heals, ranged kick, etc. But thats not what you see on the scoreboard.

something about kicking and like ccing? (whatever that is) and like other classes getting gud but resto not getting gud because it already got gud so it doesn't need to get gud anymore? I kinda stopped reading after there wasn't any numbers and got sad

Sometimes just hitting people in the face with sticks works tho/same with heals. Just got out of a game with Almond... did I care about the other hunters with bramble staves and i34s 1980's breakdancing and shit... no... his i49 tho hits you directly in the fucking nuts for A SERIOUS amount of damage per button press. I'm not whining on the i49, but it is COMPLETELY different when you have to heal though a bramble staff versus an i49.

The point is that sometimes the healing numbers matter and sometimes the number's are the only thing that matters.

I just don't think it can be so easily dismissed. Resto just seems to have an issue there :p when you are facing down big guns, and not just a smooth damage over time game.

I agree anything that follows BFA may feel like an automatic letdown for rshamans?
But I do still think they're strong, though not the offensive and defensive beasts they were a year ago.

One of big changes is that the bracket now has so many interrupts, meaning healers without the "good instant heals" referred to in the original post are facing some growing pains as they are forced to fakecast and position more carefully than before.
And yeah, with longer casts and frequent silence/interrupts the total heals do go down, rdruids are facing the same.

But if you enjoy playing a supportive role, providing peels as well as heals, and a 30 yard interrupt of your own, it's still great imo.

I'm not whining on the i49
that'd be a first

any healer is going to have a rough time when getting wailed on by a dps with an ilvl 49 weapon if they dont have help. It's not a shortcoming of the class. Sure, an Rsham doesnt have the output of an HPal or the bubble/fear/two-schools-of-heals shenanigans of a priest. But its strength is that it really shouldnt be as easy for a melee dps to stick on you as it is for us to stick on a priest or hpal.

Why does every thread on xpoff end up with a small penis contest?

People just view the last and the first post as the real information... and unfortunately as you can see from Chops's main complaint about the forums... is that nobody reads anything in the middle.
